About

Based on the iconic characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams, THE ADDAMS FAMILY is the smash hit musical comedy now starring film, TV and stage star Brooke Shields as Morticia and Tony Award® winner Roger Rees as Gomez. THE ADDAMS FAMILY features an original story. It's every parent's nightmare. Your little girl has suddenly become a young woman, and what's worse, has fallen deliriously in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family. Yes, Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has a "normal" boyfriend, and for parents Gomez and Morticia, it's a shocking development that turns the Addams house upside down when they are forced to host a dinner for the young man and his parents.

THE ADDAMS FAMILY has a book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice (librettists of the 2006 Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Jersey Boys), music and lyrics by Drama Desk Award winner Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party), direction and design by Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch (Shockheaded Peter, The Metropolitan Opera's Satyagraha) and choreography by Sergio Trujillo (Next to Normal, Jersey Boys).

Sit close so you can hear the funny fast lines...Gomez spits them out so fast you must pay attention. Grandma was hilarious. Lurch was better than the old TV show and boy can he sing. Funny lines referencing NYC..gotta pay attention! Very entertaining show...not award winning but for a fun relaxed evening with good clean humor...refreshing and glad we went

The scenery was just beautiful! I wonder why photos cannot be taken...This rule should be changed. People could share photos with friends and family and it might boost sales.

    Addams Family was boring

by Anonymous on 12/23/11Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

I found the overall performance quite boring, the storyline in particular. There was nothing of the Addams.

Witty, Charming and Funny!!! Brooke still looks great but Gomez, Grandma and Wednesday steal the show.

It was my son's 11th birthday. It was his first time seeing a Broadway show. HE LOVED IT! As for me. it wan't my first choice, but I was pleasantly surprised My favorites were Gomez, Uncle Fester and Wednesday, but really everyone was great. The show was funny and songs were good.

    Questionable casting

by Skillroy on 12/21/11Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

I felt the actor cast as Gomez was too old. There was no hint of marital bliss/chemistry between he and Morticia which was a huge part of the old television show. The acting was fine, the settings extraordinare, and the costumes were very authentic.

    It was ok

by DSLer on 12/21/11Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

It was funny, colors were nice and didn't feel like it was over two hours which is a good thing, especially when it was a packed house. I thought the play was good but wish it would have been more dark like the original show. Wasn't crazy about the story line; Wednesday was older with short hair, was in love and getting married and the grandmother would break out into spurts of modern songs and hip hop dances. I took my 13 year old nephew and he also thought there were too many modern touches. Other than that It was entertaining. Brooke Shields did a really good job and looked just like Morticia, too bad Raul Julia couldn't play the part of Gomez, he would have been perfect for it.

The Addams Family you will laugh till you die

by DCSTAR on 12/20/11Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

I sat in the front row, but any seat would have been worth the price. I laughed so hard that I missed some of the jokes that were told next. Was one of the best 2 1/2 hrs at a theater that I have been too. If I had to see any musical twice this would be it.

This was a great comedy! The acting was superb and the sets were outstanding. This was billed as family entertainment and it lived up to that in most respects. However, there were many sexual inuendos that were not appropriate for preteens. There was no need to add those into the script because the play was wonderful without them. We also were disturbed by people coming and going.

A Must See while in NYC

by ILOVENYC on 12/20/11Lunt-Fontanne Theatre - New York

Took my daughter and her two children 8 and 10 and it was hilarious. They all had watched some of the old black and whites from television show and thought this was incredible. Was a tad slow after intermission and possibly could have been a little shorter with no intermission for my grandchildren but every single one of the cast members was incredibly superb in their roles!!! Felt as if they were not acting but just being the characters. Kudos to all and especially to Brooke, the actors and all the understudies who do this 8 times a week for our pleasure!! Thanks Adams Family!!
