Willie Nelson is one of the most successful country music singer-songwriters in history, releasing 68 studio albums and 10 live albums. He wrote his first song at the age of seven and joined his first band at ten, playing concerts as a lead singer and guitar player while still in high school. He spent the ‘50s and ‘60s writing songs for established acts such as Ray Price and Patsy Cline, as well as releasing a string of albums on Liberty and RCA beginning with his debut …And Then I Wrote in 1962. In 1973, he signed to Atlantic Records and put out Shotgun Willie, which veered into outlaw country, a stark contrast from the mainstream Nashville sound and clean-cut country artists of the era. 1975’s Red Headed Stranger and 1978’s Stardust followed on Columbia Records, both garnering commercial and critical success. The ‘80s saw the release of No. 1 albums Honeysuckle Rose, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, Always on My Mind, and The Promiseland, as well as Nelson joining Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Kris Kristofferson in the country supergroup The Highwaymen, touring and releasing three studio albums between 1985 and 1995. Nelson continues to release a new album almost every year and delight ticket buyers in live shows to this day.

Too many people and chairs too close together people allowed to stand up in rows not allowing people to see
He’s 91! If you came expecting the 50yr old man , you might have been disappointed. Asleep at the Wheel was awesome!
Willie Nelson is a must see, even if you don’t like country music like me. He is an iconic performer who is a big part of our culture. His concert was great. Despite his age he sang one song after another, barely pausing between songs. The sound system at the Rady Shell was magnificent and magnified his voice throughout the venue. If you have the chance to see Willie Nelson take it.
Could not see the stage. People were seated but rows were not tiered enough. Also the smoking and vaping was bad in our section.
I concur totally with the review that appeared in the Union Tribune, and I couldn't say it any better. I will add that the food prices at the shell are outrageous and the food isn't that good. Management should let people bring their own food, or lower the prices. And the mta should add trolleys after the concerts. We waited a half hour for the Green Line trolley to Old Town.
I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to see Willie Nelson in concert. I’ve adored his music for most of my life. That being said, it’s time for him to retire. My husband is a musician and Willie couldn’t play a correct note on his guitar the whole night. I thought my husband was going to ask to leave after the second song. His singing was mainly him speaking the words and struggling to keep up. After a bit, he did better but it was very rough for the first few songs. Add to that the fact that a bunch of people sitting directly behind us talked loudly the entire show…. It was a disappointing night.
Great show in an awesome venue. Dynamite acoustics. Dinner at Sally's on the bay just a short walk away. Great way to spend a Dan Diego evening.
He’s still got it. Was a little hard to sing along with him. Great venue. Great show.
Willie still has it after all these years! Band is fantastic and his son Michah is hilarious. Great show!!!!!
