It's an okay event not great

by MichaelChangRocks on 8/31/16Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

US open Arthur Ashe Day is really for younger kids. I brought my 15 years old and there was not a whole lot for them to do. They are beyond face painting: juggling; animal balloons. Very disappointed with the freebies. Not much was given out. What was given out was a nice Kids Day blue cap but it was only for 12 years old or younger which sucks. Can't they give out to everyone who attends this event, I remembered past years when they gave out free T-Shirts; key chains; lanyards even tennis rackets. This year we got free sample coffee and a small piggy bank. What a bummer. I also thought the parking price of $23 was a bit much. Good thing was they did have nice air conditioned coach buses that shuttled you to and from the parking lot. The transportation was well organized. Now here's some positive feedback: It was nice that they did allow you to bring in food and drinks from the outside. Also even though the the concession food prices are high the food was very good. And a lot of different kinds of food was offered. I had Korean food which was delicious.

    Enjoyed,, but ....

by USOpen47 on 8/30/16Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

We had a very good experience and enjoyed the whole day, although was a great disappointment to see the lack of knowledge of the USTA personnel, I am not complaining of them but the organization that didn't provide the proper training to the employees.

    Parking situation was horrific

by lele517 on 8/30/16Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

This was my first time going to Arthur Ashe Kids' Day. I usually go when the US Open officially begins. I have never encountered problems with parking before and not sure if this was a one off incident or this always happens on Arthur Ashe Kids' Day, but we were directed so out of our way to park our cars, that it took an extra 40 minutes to park and then either had to take a shuttle to the venue or walk. I do know that when the tennis tournament begins, anyone who has a Mercedes Benz and parks doesn't have to pay for parking. Apparently that doesn't pertain to Arthur Ashe Kids' Day. We purchased tickets to see the concert inside Arthur Ashe Stadium. They didn't start on time (and when you have kids...it's very difficult to sit and wait) and then they started with just a whole bunch of nonsense stuff which just was completely non entertaining. I really would not recommend it at all.

    Get there Early

by Melinda5 on 8/30/16Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

Getting in and out of the city is torturous for me but there were signs and attendants directing where to go. Parking was steep at 23$. We walked in the gates at 11:45 and by the time we got to were the kids activities were the signs said line closes at 12:00 so unfortunately we didn't get to do any of that. I knew they ended at 12:30 but would've liked to have been forewarned about lines closing earlier. We liked the ease of walking into the seating to watch practice of players that was really neat. Cool to be so close up to Nadal and others. Getting in to the Arthur Ashe Stadium for the concert was ok but we beat the crowds a little by getting in around 12:30. However, the food stands were not all ready, the chicken finger stand was waiting on gas and took over 45 mins. That was not fun because i walked down to second level to check for food as well but they had other options. Good options, but not chicken fingers. everyone says how overpriced but i found it the same as all other venues i have been at. we had general admission tickets and they were good, no problem seeing the entertainers. however, would we go back probably not.

    Kid's Day

by rockinabuela on 8/30/16Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

My 13 and 16 yr. old grandkids really enjoyed watching the pros practice on the courts. The show in Arthur Ashe Stadium was a big disappointment. Glad I only spent 10.00 a ticket for general admission. Could have saved the money and just watched the practices for free. Then I could have put the money towards the bad food and ridiculously high-priced bottles of water, at 4.50 for a small bottle, it's outrageous. Glad I don't ever have to go again!

    Never Again

by Jack386 on 8/30/16Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

Beside the poorly or non-existent signs or directions for parking, the long waits for everything, broken escalators, unruly crowds of tennis-ignorant free loaders, it was okay but not worth the 2 hours one-way drive.

    Crowded

by Wayovercrowded on 8/30/16Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

Too many people. Way to crowded and the expected stars didn't show. Price point was good for what it was but don't think would go again. Last acoustics and sound were terrible. Could barely hear the folks on stage.

    We loved the NBT

by Froski on 9/6/15Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

Our kids loved the music acts in Arthur Ashe Stadium, but I thought the music at the Hess stage was also great. The numbers of kids playing the tennis games on the outside courts was exciting, but to play with them would have required sacrificing the rest of the grounds because the lines were long and there just wasn't enough time.

    Regret it!

by LazySunday on 9/4/15Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

    1. 45 min of slow moving traffic on Grand Central Parkway to get to the $22 parking lot 2. Short walk to entrance and short security queue 3. Quite a few kids activities (like face painting) but very long queues 4. Long queues for the restrooms The show: 1. Very bad sound system hardly anything audible: The performances, MC or the tennis stars speaking could hear nothing 2. Kids got completely restless 3. A completely disconnected order of events. Hardly any engagement from the crowd apart from when the stars came to the court. 4. The performances were sprinkled throughout the 2 hours with some random stuff happening in between. As soon as the crowd started to get a hang of what was being performed, it was over. My kids don't want to go again.

    Once again a tremendous event!

by happybluesfest on 9/2/15Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

We very much enjoyed the opportunity to see all of the greatest tennis players in the world practicing. The improved seating opportunities for practice sessions are a really nice addition. The musical performances were energetic and big fun. Would like to see improvements to the traffic flow and parking. Prior years have been much better in that regard. Some concession stands were out of certain basic food and drink items that typically are always stocked up. Autograph opportunities for kids could be better.

    Arthur Ashe Kid's Day

by Litnav on 9/2/15Arthur Ashe Stadium - Flushing

Kid's activities and the access to see the top players practice is great. The show was just alright, not the best this year. I would not buy tickets to show next year, instead go to all the practice courts and see exhibition playing.
