Seats were affordable!!!!! Was able to see everyone fine and had a fantastic time.
We went to see Mindless Behaviour but loved all the other acts. Music performances was great!!!!
My son and I enjoyed show. Loved M.B. dance moves.
You could not ask for more! Included activities for all ages, great facilities and an awesome concert! Making this event accessible to everyone was really the greatest part!
It was a fun day for the kids. There was confusion with the general admission seating. Most people did not know that even though the tickets had assigned seating, that is not where you sit. They failed to tell people that general admission means that you can sit anywhere you want in the top section of the stadium. Seats were first come first serve.
Way too crowded, tickets had seat and row numbers but they did not mean anything it was all first come first serve general admission. Sound system was not working really well and main M/C did not show up.
My 9 year old had a blast watching the tennis pros. I would have liked to see more games on the court geared to 9-12 years old as it seemed a lot were for much younger kids. We loved being able to see the players up close and personal. I do wish there was a rule that only kids can be in front rows to watch professionals as the adults made it difficult (and were sometimes plain nasty) for lots of kids to get down for autographs. But overall, great gifts, the volunteers were spectacular in helping move the crowds along and keeping order.
Love the whole event. The seats where very nigh and we were instructed to seat where we coud becase the tickets were GA (General Attendance) and not assigned seat.
Sounds great on paper! But the crowds for the free areas were too much and the "event" was actually being part of a studio audience taping TV segments to air the following day. Would have been nice to expose the packed crowd to some actual tennis rather than cheap gimmicks and mediocre bands.
I had an amazing time at Arthur Ashe Kids' Day 2012! I was beyond excited. My favorite performance was by The Wanted! I am a massive fan (fanmily :3) and just seeing them made me so happy. Nathan, Max and Jay waved to me! I can't wait for their upcoming tour! Carly Rae, Owl City, Rachel Crow and Mindless Behavior did great as well! Congrats to them all! xoxo
Fun but you need to get in early and have a kid that is ready to participate.
The wanted should have been the main attraction, and not the opening acts for Carlie Rae Jepsen. Though I enjoyed CRJ, I think "The Wanted" had MORE songs and BETTER hits than CRJ.
The Arthur Ashe kids day was awesome my family and friends love it
Excellent family time! A great show/concert for the kids. I had no idea as to the performers, but my kids let me know who everyone was and they all were great.
Nice event for the younger kids (under 10). Must get there EARLY to take advantage of the clinics. Show was decent, but was under the impression that our tix that said "GA" for General Admission allowed us access anywhere on first serve basis - not true. Only the very top tier access. A little disappointing, but still had a fun day.
As always, the USTA and Arthur Ashe estate put on a phenomenal day for children to get close to their heros and she-roes of tennis - there were lots of great activities and the concert was fun too. The only drawbacks were (1) the Mets game taking place the same day, which made parking almost impossible (Next year I'll definitely take the train!) and (2) the $10 tickets were affordable, but when you went to find your seat, the stadium attendants just said "find something 'up there' if you can". no bueno for me with a 5 and 6 year old in tow...
fantastic! best possible way to spend a family afternoon in nyc
