    Porgy and Bess was Awesome!

by Wonder59 on 9/18/12Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I truly enjoyed the acting, singing, and dancing. The challenges in life Porgy struggled with reminded me of First Lady Michelle Obama speaking about life growing up with her father.

    Porgy and Bess was worthwhile.

by AmyJK on 9/17/12Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Very nice show. I know that they wanted to portray a poor neighborhood, but the scenery was a little lacking. Also, the costumes were a bit too modern - especially the Sunday outing on the boat. One of the ladies wore a satin dress - she should have worn cotton like the others. The story line was well done.

    Enjoyable

by JoeMur on 9/17/12Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Beautiful show, beautiful music and lyrics. Unfortunately for most of the production, you could not understand the words. I would compare it to an opera. Very moving but you do not know what they are saying.

    Marvelous Performance!!!

by Bwhitgreen on 9/17/12Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Acting, music and acoustics were superb. The show was a masterpiece -- never a dull moment, touching on many themes. This show is what Broadway is all about. Everything about the show and performance was top notch. The theatre is charming, but lacked amenities. There were not enough convenient bathrooms. Having to walk down and back up multiple flights of stairs to go to the bathroom was terrible, especially for certain patrons.

Porgy & Bess was amazing! Audra McDonald was phenomenol! She was on point and so was Norm Lewis and David Allen Grier. Real actors like this are hard to find. The entire cast had voices that were out of this world!
