About

Sting is a 17-time Grammy-winning artist and a founding member of the pioneering new wave band The Police. Born in Wallsend, England, Gordon Sumner, a.k.a. Sting, became one of the best-selling artists of all-time as the bassist and frontman of The Police. The band released five studio albums and six Top 10 singles, including the Sting-penned No. 1 hit “Every Breath You Take,” before disbanding in 1986. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, and their 2008 reunion tour was the third highest-grossing tour of the ’00s. Since releasing his 1985 solo debut The Dream of the Blue Turtles, Sting has been recognized with a British CBE and an Emmy, featured at the Kennedy Center Honors and inducted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He has also received four Oscar nominations, and his 2014 Broadway musical The Last Ship, which was inspired by his childhood and featured music and lyrics by Sting, was nominated for two Tony Awards. A constant experimenter of genres including jazz, pop, classical and world music, Sting won the Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2019 with Shaggy for their 2018 collaborative album 44/876.

    It was Serendipity!

by DivaSari on 10/19/23The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

AMAZING! I was so happy to hear that Sting was coming to Houston. I was certain that I would attend this concert, even though money is very tight and I was being irresponsible, there was no way I would miss this opportunity to see him perform. I'm an 80's girl, big fan of The Police. I went by myself, had a blissful, emotional, fun time! I cried, clapped, sang and danced. My happy cup was full. At 72, he's still rockin' and looking hot! His voice touches my soul, I'm so grateful for this opportunity, I will never forget this experience.

    Sting still has bite

by JR on 10/19/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

Wasn't sure what to expect from this concert when I purchased tickets months ago. I'd been heartbroken watching an ailing Phil Collins attempt to perform all his hits I grew up with. I knew Sting was up in years and as we age we tend to lose some things. For singers it's usually their voice, the most important instrument of all. But Sting is an entertainer, a philosopher, and a wonder. His age is apparent but his health is probably better than mine and I'm 20+ years his junior. His voice was damn near perfect as he rattled off hit after hit from his immense catalogue of a lifetime of songs. He along with his band of accomplished vocalists and musicians jammed all night impressing us all. Sting interacted with the audience and regaled us with his wit and charm as he gave us a glimpse into some of his songs. It was an emotional experience for me personally seeing a true professional in his element, doing what he loves and doing it well. I checked his playlist for this concert and was very excited to hear those songs live and he did not disappoint. An added bonus was seeing his son perform as the opening solo act as well as joining in for some songs at the end of the concert. It was a magical night and makes me kick myself for not seeing Sting sooner. A true living legend.

    Absolutely Phenomenal!

by P2tun!@ on 10/19/23The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

This event is one not to miss. Sting is witty, charming and musically mesmerizing. He played music from the Police and as Sting. The are some vocal spotlights of band that really round out the evening. One of the best concerts I have been to in a long time. Its a definite vibe and if you grew up with his music --- the nostalgia is palpable. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

    Sting, a magical musician

by Orin on 10/19/23The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

Sting is a most talented musician, a gifted voice, a creative song writer, and an excellent bassist, with energy and emotion to captivate you. Sting captured me from the first song and built up emotions that sometimes led to tears of happiness. In addition to the mesmerizing music, he interwove stories and comments that were shared from the heart. See Sting in person. You'll be glad you did.

The quality of Sting's voice still remains fantastic! His storytelling and his connection with the audience made the evening so enjoyable. We appreciated that Sting delivered all of his hit songs....exactly what we paid for and expected. Along with Sting's musicians and singers, they executed a first class performance.

    Good vibes!

    by Experiencemusic8 on 10/19/23

Sting sounded awesome. Sang his hits and it was a fun/carefree experience. Great open air venue. My only issue was that the parking lots for the venue were a little far and that I had to sit right behind the people that would not sit down! I buy a seat to be seated. Most of the audience was seated except for the people in front of my section. This isn’t a hard rock concert!

    Sting was SUPERB

by NEB on 10/19/23The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion presented by Huntsman - Woodlands

It was a flawless concert. Tight performance! Sting was terrific as we have heard he would be and the other band members shone in their own rights. We were impressed that the show started darn close to “on time.” A rare thing. First time at the Cynthia Woods. Very nice venue, though our seats 10 and 11 in Row G were no longer comfortable after thirty minutes. Restrooms were clean and spacious.

    Amazing concert

by DWmusic on 10/18/23The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory - Irving

Getting to and from the Toyota Music Factory was really pleasant compared to some of the concert venues around the area. The venue is nicely spread out with multiple entrances to the seating areas and spacious fast food areas. Coming out of the seating area during the concert you have the ability to still see, since there are screens around with live footage of the show. We had great seats but of course its all dependent on the act. Sting was amazing. No breaks between songs - each one rolled into the next and he interacted with the audience. The music was great and from where we sat the sound was great. Joe Sumner was a great opening act and even better when he joined in for a song or two during Stings performance.
