About

Now on Broadway through January 1 only! SOMETHING ROTTEN! is the hilarious Broadway smash from the director of ALADDIN and the co-director of THE BOOK OF MORMON!

This mash-up of 16th Century Shakespeare and 21st Century Broadway tells the story of brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom, two playwrights stuck in the shadow of that Renaissance rockstar Will Shakespeare. When a soothsayer foretells the next big thing in theatre, the Bottom Brothers set out to write the world's very first MUSICAL! With the most singing, the most dancing, and the most gut-busting laughs on Broadway, it's something wonderful... something for everyone... It's SOMETHING ROTTEN!, "the funniest musical comedy in at least 400 years" (Time Out New York)!

    A little bit of everything

by Anonymous on 12/20/16St. James Theatre - New York

Something Rotten is a classic, over-the-top musical comedy. It's not avante garde or gimmicky. It's just a witty, well-written, well-acted...well-danced musical. The characters are hilarious and there's just something about tap dancing that stirs the blood. Go see it if you can!

There's Nothing Rotten in Something Rotten

by Embermom on 12/19/16St. James - NYC

I just saw Something Rotten for the fifth time. And I'm feeling a loss, because that was (likely) the last time on Broadway. This show should have been one that ran forever. It is so hilarious, and, as importantly, it is smart and clever. The visuals are terrific, all the cast members are fantastic, and you want to hum the songs immediately after leaving the theater. I can't recommend this show highly enough. There's only two weeks left, so get thee to the St. James.

    Incredibly Entertaining!

by Yonatan on 12/18/16St. James Theatre - New York

My wife and I enjoyed every minute of the show. After fighting the December traffic in the city where it took us an hour to get from the Lincoln Tunnel to the theater, all the stress melted away when the curtain went up. Rob McClure was fantastic and was easy to see why he has had so many leading parts on Broadway. If you can't catch the show on Broadway before the January 1, 2017 finale, try to get the road show when he comes to your area!

    Funny, funny and funny!!!

by Katie1959 on 12/17/16St. James Theatre - New York

Something Rotten! has something for all Broadway lovers - finger snapping, foot tapping music with clever, sassy lyrics and lots of tap dancing. The costumes are to die for and there are plenty of set changes. I've seen it twice and it was quite obvious I was not the only one there who'd seen the show multiple times. Hugh fan base!

    You won't be disappointed

by richinpa18 on 12/17/16St. James Theatre - New York

I've heard good things about the play and wanted to see it before it closed Jan 1st and were able to get discounted tickets with code srtrvnov. I'm glad my wife and I made the day trip to NYC to see the matinee performance. It was a fun, enjoyable and entertaining two and half hours of theater. The musical comedy was witty and fast moving keeping you interested and a smile on your face throughout the performance. The actors were very good with the costumes, dancing, and musical score just as wonderful. I would see it again. Also, going over to Rockefeller Center after the show to see the Christmas tree, lights and window displays around Rockefeller Center made for a perfect day in the Big Apple!

First trip to NYC. First On Broadway Show. Loved it so much!! The only thing rotten about this show was that I couldn't see it twice!! Loved the musical references and the cast, orchestra, crew, set and St. James Theatre staff were amazing! If you love plays, you'll love this one because they not only act but sing and dance at the same time!

    Wonderful musical!

by KTanny on 12/13/16St. James Theatre - New York

I would see this again & again! Anyone who enjoys musicals will be laughing throughout as they are referenced during the show - and the choreography is outstanding, as is the singing. When I came home, I immediately checked their touring schedule and plan to go to Baltimore to see it again. Highly recommended!

    Funny, funny, funny

by dougiesmom on 12/13/16St. James Theatre - New York

One of the funniest musicals I have ever seen. The players sing and dance as well as deliver a funny line like few others. One suggestion, although not imperative: brush up not only on your Shakespeare but on your history of Broadway musicals as well. It will make the show even funnier,.
