Ringo Starr on Tour

In 1989, the world's favorite Liverpudlian singer and drummer put together a new kind of touring band that would redefine his solo career as well as make major inroads in the classic rock realm. That was the year Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band played their first tour, with the former Beatle backed by a band full of rock stars in their own right, each taking their own turns in the spotlight to perform their biggest tunes when they weren't busy supporting Ringo. He's kept the band going ever since, and over the years it has included the likes of Joe Walsh, Dr. John, Billy Preston, Peter Frampton, Greg Lake, Sheila E., Billy Squier and Edgar Winter. Not that hearing Ringo perform his solo hits and his tunes from the Fab Four years isn't compelling on its own, but getting a constantly shifting batch of classic rock hits delivered by their originators is an undeniably attractive bonus.

Ringo Starr in Concert

As great a drummer as Ringo Starr is, he was always something more. From the very first Beatles album in 1963, Ringo made it clear that his homespun vocal style and personal charm could come across on record as clearly as his drumming. During his world-changing tenure with The Beatles, he sang lead on some of their most beloved songs, including "With a Little Help From My Friends," "Yellow Submarine" and "Octopus's Garden." Ringo's gift carried over to his solo career too, and in the 1970s he enjoyed a long string of huge solo hits, including "It Don't Come Easy," "Photograph," "You're Sixteen" and "No No Song." Though Ringo also maintained an occasional sideline acting in films and had a run on children's TV shows in the 1980s, he never stopped turning out new material. And when he hit upon the idea of an ever-changing all-star backing band for his tours, including a shifting selection of rock legends singing their own hits as well as backing the boss, Ringo brought a whole new slant to his solo career.

At the age of 81 Ringo still performs like he is in his prime. He sounds amazing, and his band is so energetic. A great concert truly! So beautiful

Ringo & his all stars were very entertaining!! Colin Hay took me back to my youth. Ringo was so much fun! Attended in memory of my Mom who instilled love of the Beatles in me & I passed on to my kids! Love the CMAC amphitheater. Great place for a summer show!

    A joyful night of music

by Randy on 6/2/22Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

Ringo came bursting out right on time. He looked amazing. He welcomed people and seemed happy to be performing for us. He sang, which surprised me. He’s funny. He’s handsome. He had so much vitality. He was very gracious and generous sharing the stage with other very talented people. I had my 15 year old grandson with me. He recently took up the drums! I wanted him to hear Ringo playing the drums! Ringo nailed it! It was a very exciting and joy filled night of songs and fun! Loved it!

Ringo and his Band are Great

Great concert. CMAC needs to improve upon its food service. They seem very disorganized and inefficient.

    Great concert w/Ringo

by Jascor on 6/2/22Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

Great group of musicians, nice mix of songs. Love that leader Ringo steps aside and let’s the spotlight shine on the other artists when they did their songs. It was like seeing 5 bands together. Ringo looks and sounds great, singing and drumming. He kept things light and fun as you’d expect from him.

Sizzling - Music, Weather, and Stage

by Mo on 6/2/22Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

The musical performances were excellent. The venue was also excellent -- good size, good sound, easy access, easy parking and exit. The only thing apparently not working was the air conditioning on the stage on a very hot night. Not particularly fair or healthful for the performers, who carried forward professionally nevertheless.

    Ringo is always great!

by Paploo on 6/2/22Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

4th time I saw Ringo at CMAC, making it to all 4 of his shows there (going back to 1992!). Great venue! The only thing that could be approved upon is maybe putting the merchandise tent a little farther away from the entrance, so that the pedestrian traffic could get through.

    Exciting

by Mick on 6/2/22Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

If there's a Beatle involved, you know it will be exciting. Ringo is amazing. He was very active and entertaining throughout the whole show. He still has a strong and accurate singing voice. The ALL STARR band is worth the price of the ticket by themselves.

Edgar Winter is a Rock God!

by RachelW on 6/2/22Constellation Brands–Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center: CMAC - Canandaigua

The concert was fabulous! All the performers were at the top of their game and it was an incredible experience. Edgar Winter especially was just so amazing. That being said, the venue had some glitches. They didn't open their gates when they said they would, leaving a lot of senior citizens standing in 88 degree, sunny, weather waiting longer than needed. They also didn't have their water fountains working so you were stuck with overpriced water. Their website said no outside bottles of water, found out when we got there they let people bring in sealed bottles - 1 each. They've been operating too long to have these stupid little problems.

    Ringo Starr, for goodness sake

by Smartwomn2 on 11/3/19The Saban - Beverly Hills

Good grief. I was 50 feet away from Ringo Starr. And David Lynch. And Henry Diltz. It was fabulous. The moderator (who was that guy?) had the most random questions and and was stunningly poor at including all three men in the conversation. Yeah, I went to hear/see Ringo. But Ringo gave Diltz four whole pages in his book, Another Day in the Life, and yet the moderator all but ignored Diltz. Good thing Ringo had stories to tell about each of the other guys on the stage. Would I go listen to Ringo read the phone book for an hour? Of course. (But would I rather hear him tell stories about his life and times...absolutely.) So its clearly disingenuous for me to complain about the questions. The theater was fine. The acoustics were fine.

    Could’ve been longer!

by Sierra Lisa on 11/1/19The Saban - Beverly Hills

While I enjoyed the showing immensely, I thought it was too short (not quite an hour). I didn’t know the content of the pictures in the book, and most were of random subjects. I had thought there would be more Beatle pictures and was anxious to hear the stories behind them. Overall, few pictures were talked about. Nevertheless, I enjoyed being there and the book given us as part of the ticket price.

LOVED RINGO!! Venue and interviewer, not so much

by A. on 11/1/19The Saban - Beverly Hills

Ringo is absolutely hilarious!! He had me laughing all night. The only reason I didn't give the event 5 stars is that there were problems with the sound system in the theater. The interviewer came out and his microphone didn't work. This went on for about 15 minutes. I also thought the interview lagged at times. The interviewer was low energy and didn't really seem engaged. Lastly, the slides of Ringo's photos from the book were projected behind the panelists, so they had to turn around in their seats to see them. At one point, Ringo mentioned that the slides were also supposed to be projected in front of them. I was surprised that the interview was only about an hour, but in the end, that was fine because it seemed like the interviewer ran out of questions and Ringo wanted to go home! I was happy to get home early on a week night. Overall, I had a GREAT time laughing with Ringo and being SO CLOSE to a Beatle!! Once in a lifetime opportunity for me that was well worth it.

    Glad went!

    by E. T. on 11/1/19The Saban - Beverly Hills

How often do you get to see a Beatle outside of a concert? Rarely. Not only did we get a copy of his new book, we also heard his comments about photos that are in his book and is life. Fun night!

    Three Amigo's

by Mojosmoothy on 11/1/19The Saban - Beverly Hills

This was an eclectic evening shared by three unique individuals who are clearly good friends. The discussions revolved around photography,The Beatles and philosophy surrounding meditation,T.M. to be precise,Mr.Lynch was extremely passionate in his description of the T.M. practice.Ringo Starr of course stole the night with his very presence, his Beatle stories and his irreverent humor.Henry Diltz per Mr.Starr is "The Last Hippie Standing" and one of the finest rock N roll photographers ever and a humble cheerful man.It was a special night.

    A softball book promotion

    by S. H. on 11/1/19The Saban - Beverly Hills

This was not a conversation, it was a gratuitous lap used to sell books. The so-called-interviewer made it worse.

    Dream Come True!

by BeatleFan4Life on 11/1/19The Saban - Beverly Hills

I attended this event purchasing one of the 30 VIP tickets which included a signed limited-edition of the featured book, a signed lithograph, a 1st/2nd row seat, and, most importantly a meet & greet/photo with Ringo! I am a life-long Beatle fan, and this was one of the great thrills of my life getting an up close and personal evening with my idol. One of those bucket list item type of events. Since it was at a smaller venue, it was a conversation rather than a music concert, and the VIP tickets were in a fairly small allotment, it felt much more up-close and personal than your typical rock star event. Being able to meet Ringo and then listen to him reminiscence about his Beatle experiences from just 20 feet away was just amazing. It was worth every penny of the $1500 ticket price. I can't thank the organizers enough for offering this opportunity!
