Ringo Starr on Tour

In 1989, the world's favorite Liverpudlian singer and drummer put together a new kind of touring band that would redefine his solo career as well as make major inroads in the classic rock realm. That was the year Ringo Starr and his All-Starr Band played their first tour, with the former Beatle backed by a band full of rock stars in their own right, each taking their own turns in the spotlight to perform their biggest tunes when they weren't busy supporting Ringo. He's kept the band going ever since, and over the years it has included the likes of Joe Walsh, Dr. John, Billy Preston, Peter Frampton, Greg Lake, Sheila E., Billy Squier and Edgar Winter. Not that hearing Ringo perform his solo hits and his tunes from the Fab Four years isn't compelling on its own, but getting a constantly shifting batch of classic rock hits delivered by their originators is an undeniably attractive bonus.

Ringo Starr in Concert

As great a drummer as Ringo Starr is, he was always something more. From the very first Beatles album in 1963, Ringo made it clear that his homespun vocal style and personal charm could come across on record as clearly as his drumming. During his world-changing tenure with The Beatles, he sang lead on some of their most beloved songs, including "With a Little Help From My Friends," "Yellow Submarine" and "Octopus's Garden." Ringo's gift carried over to his solo career too, and in the 1970s he enjoyed a long string of huge solo hits, including "It Don't Come Easy," "Photograph," "You're Sixteen" and "No No Song." Though Ringo also maintained an occasional sideline acting in films and had a run on children's TV shows in the 1980s, he never stopped turning out new material. And when he hit upon the idea of an ever-changing all-star backing band for his tours, including a shifting selection of rock legends singing their own hits as well as backing the boss, Ringo brought a whole new slant to his solo career.

    Ringo!!

by Enkinephilim on 11/28/16Bob Hope Theatre - Stockton

What a great rock show!! So many heavy hitters on one stage. Even the borderline girly 80's songs came off well live. Ringo looked great, sounded great, drummed like a champion! Ringo drumming to Santana! Rock!

Ringo and The All Star Band were AMAZING

by BigT228 on 11/23/16Bob Hope Theatre - Stockton

This was one of the best shows we've seen, we had Great seats and the sound was incredible every member of the All Star Band were fantastic musicians. We recently saw Paul McCartney at The Golden One Center and it was very pricey for not so great seats don't get me wrong it was a great thing to see Paul but as a fan it's so much nicer to be up close and not break the bank. Ringo kept it affordable and in a smaller venue. The Bob Hope Theatre is a really nice place to see a concert, as I said the sound was incredible crystal clear.i

Ringo Starr at Bob Hope Theater

by travelkat on 11/21/16Bob Hope Theatre - Stockton

Loved seeing Ringo, he is fun, energetic and was so friendly with the audience. After 50 years at least I got to see one of the Beatles. My only complaint was that he did not sing enough. While his band is excellent, it seemed it was more about them instead of Ringo. I would have liked to see him sing more of his songs from his CD's. And he looks amazing!

    Ringo's band's BEST!

by FCDOBBS on 11/21/16Bob Hope Theatre - Stockton

Third time seeing the All Starr Band over the years. Best show ever, because Ringo played the whole 2-hours with the band. In past performances Ringo would exit the stage, while each band member performed their own songs. The band is fine-tuned and one can see they love playing together. They really related to the audience, too.

    Ringo Rocks!

by GeminiDiana on 11/21/16Bob Hope Theatre - Stockton

Ringo Starr is a fabulous performer. He's able to solo, he is a master of the drums, he chats engagingly with the audience, and he works seamlessly with his team. He's also a very generous performer: he put on a tremendous show, had an incredible energy level, and put his all into it and the band played at least 22 songs. Amazing. He's 76 and has the energy level and fitness of a 30 year old. He also gave ample show time to his band members and they additionally put on a tremendous show. He was correct when he said they were all stars in their own right. It takes a confident and great team leader to so willingly give the stage over to others. He's amazing and their repertoire of songs was varied and great music to rock to. Really a tremendously good show & they really jammed. It took me 2.5 hours to drive there and I am soooo glad I went. Happy 70 year old fan :>)

    A truly great Concert!

by CaliforniaRocking on 11/20/16Bob Hope Theatre - Stockton

I believe the tour has ended already, I would still like to enter my review in case the participants read reviews. The musicians gave it their all, and they all was stellar! Lead by Ringo, my fave Beatle, each and everyone's contribution to the show was wonderful! I grew up with the Beatles, and later listened to Ringo solo, as well as some of the other band members mostly in the 1980's. I am so happy for the opportunity to have seen and heard Ringo! I hope he will continue touring for many more years. I had not been to this particular theater before, the "Bob Hope" in Stockton. The sound was really great in this venue, Ringo even remarked on that fact. Overall the concert exceeded my expectation.

    It took 40 years

by Meishy on 11/20/16Bob Hope Theatre - Stockton

I finally got to see Ringo! The concert was fun, the vibe was great, and the seasoned musicians exuded a genuine love for music and each other. Also, the theater's sound and seats were great! I'm a little shortish, and it was so cool to be able to view the entire stage comfortably without craning my neck the entire show.

I've seen Ringo and a couple of variations his all star band over the years, and each time they all put on a stellar performance. And they all seem to be having so much FUN! And when the band has fun, so does the audience. Also, the musicianship of the band is nothing short of phenomenal. Thank you!

Great band, good vocals. Ringo was on time and played continuously for 2 hours with lots of music that was fun and appreciated. For a guy that is 76 he can still do a great job and inspire the audience.

    Starr shines!!

by LoriDee123 on 11/20/16Bob Hope Theatre - Stockton

The theater was so beautiful.. cushy seats, great sound, small crowd of about 2000... Ringo took the stage and the magical musical experience began.. Beatles songs, Toto songs, Mr. Mister songs, Santana songs and the character of Todd Rundgren.. The stage with the stars on the backdrop, the trippy lights and the great music that had the whole audience singing and dancing.. the ending was perfect.. all we are saying is give peace a chance.. peace and love Ringo!!

3 concerts for 1 - best concert I've seen in years

by Sacratomatoe on 11/20/16Bob Hope Theatre - Stockton

Being age 65, I recall the first time I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. Seeing Ringo in person was a very special concert for me and my wife. Ringo sang over 10 of his songs. Amazingly he still has his very unique voice after 50+ years. I wish I would have purchased the "meet and greet" package to meet Ringo in person. I recall clearly when Greg Rollie sang the Santana Band songs at the Woodstock concert. He sang 3 or 4 of those songs at this concert which was almost perfect. A special surprise was how good Ringo's Allstar band is. The guitar player and bass player from the band TOTO made the concert perfect. Their performance of "Hold the Line" was a perfect 10. The bass player sang TOTO's songs perfectly. The guitar player far outperformed himself 30+ years ago when that song was originally recorded, and he played all the Santana songs 10 times better than Carlos ever played them. Ringo could easily have eliminated Todd Rudgren from the band and I believe nobody would mind. Todd's voice is gone. Perhaps Ringo can replace Todd with David Crosby or Tom Petty or Bob Dylan.

Awesome performance at a great venue. Sound was excellent as always. I had no idea that Ringo had such a good voice. So much energy from the band. Santana songs were awesome, lead guitar shredded it! Thanks for the show!
