About

Rihanna is nothing if not prolific. Since her 2005 debut, the 25-year-old singer has released seven albums and racked up twelve No. 1 singles, setting a record in the process as the solo artist with the fastest accumulation of ten chart-topping singles – a feat she accomplished in just under five years. A quick scroll through the radio dial will confirm that Rihanna is the most ubiquitous figure in Top 40 airplay, and considering her rapid-fire release schedule, it’s hardly a surprise that she recently edged out her idol Whitney Houston to become the artist with the ninth most Top 10 singles ever (24 in total). After hugely successful collaborations with Eminem in 2010 (“Love the Way You Lie”) and Drake in 2012 (Take Care), Rihanna scored her first U.S. No. 1 album with 2012’s Unapologetic, which includes the hugely successful “Diamonds” and “Stay.” Rihanna is shining bright in concert on the 2013 Diamonds World Tour -- opening acts 2 Chainz and A$AP Rocky are worth the ticket price alone.

Born in Barbados in 1988, Rihanna grew up listening to reggae and began singing at age seven. As a teen, her Caribbean-influenced demos attracted the attention of label execs, and in 2005 she auditioned for Jay-Z, signing a six-album record deal with Def Jam Recordings the same day. Her first two albums, Mother of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006), spawned hit singles “Pon De Replay” and chart-topper “S.O.S.,” but it wasn’t until “Umbrella,” from third album Good Girl Gone Bad (2007), that she cemented her place as a serious contender to the pop throne. Originally written for Britney Spears, “Umbrella” peaked at No. 1 and earned Rihanna her first Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. A string of platinum-selling albums would follow, including Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011), both of which featured an increasingly dance-oriented sound, including chart-topping club anthems “Only Girl (In the World)” and “We Found Love.” After terminating her tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship with rapper Chris Brown, Rihanna released Unapologetic in 2013 to positive reviews – and a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

I had a blast at the Rihanna concert this past weekend!! Travis Scott opening up for her along with the DJ was a great show. They got the crowd hyped and ready for Rihanna to perform and then her show was the absolute best!!!

    Rihanna surprised me

by Luckyyyyy on 5/16/16American Airlines Center - Dallas

Rihanna sang more than I expected. She danced well. The overall vibe on chill. I was expecting it to be more hype tha. It was. It was to laid back for my taste. Lots of slow songs

    Forgettable

by Anonymous on 5/16/16American Airlines Center - Dallas

Didn't appreciate the lip syncing. Good music but she kept covering her face so you couldn't see her sing. No need for the cursing. Good dancing and sets. Band was great. Wouldn't waste my money to see her.

    Not worth the money...

    by blank1007 on 5/14/16Oracle Arena - Oakland

I honestly love Rihanna and I was really excited about the show, but I was disappointed because she barely even sang most of the concert was playback and the concert was super short!! It lasted little over an hour... I didn't feel like it was worth my money.

    Not what I expected

    by shay0001 on 5/14/16The Forum - Inglewood

First time going to a Rhianna concert and I was slightly disappointed. I I love Rhianna's voice but couldn't hear it because the music in the back was too loud. She was all covered up most of the show. Dancers were mediocre. More thought needs to go into stage presence.

    Rihanna! San Jose & Oakland May 6th & 7th

by Musicaholic1 on 5/13/16SAP Arena & Oracle Arena - San Jose & Oakland

I was fortunate to have attended both of Rihanna's Bay Area shows and they were exceptional. Both as a performer and musical artist, Rihanna showed power, grace and true affection for her fans. In a 25 song set spread across her catalog, with additional weighting toward her new album "ANTI", Rihanna put on two stunning performances with deafening crowd approval. Using both sophisticated technology & sheer talent, Rihanna proved why her beautiful voice, unique lyrical phrasing and presence is so popular. She had the crowd on their feet throughout the show(s). A hard working force to be reckoned with, Rihanna is a true Superstar. A joyful experience that was out of the ordinary. Bravo, Rihanna!

We had a blast!!!! Rhianna performed song after song, that there was no chance to even sit down :) Love her!!! I love how she played a vast variety of old songs and her ANTI album. The venue was a great size, but still intimate. The view was awesome!!! SDSU!!!

ANTI Tour best tour of the year!!!!

by Jayyelmo on 5/12/16The Forum - Inglewood

Rihanna definitely knows how to put on a great show!! She did come out a little late, but it was worth the wait. The venue is amazing from the seats all the way to the top to the bottom floor seats, and they are all for a cheap price. It was definitely a must go to tour of the year.

    Rihanna was amazing!

by Lita1995 on 5/12/16Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl San Diego State University - San Diego

The show was great! Travis Scott was the opening act and I don't listen to much of his music but he was good and he had the crowd pretty wild as we waited for RiRi. and then as soon as the lights started to dim and we all new she was starting everyone went wild and the anticipation was maddening. Then she appeared and from the very start it was unbelievable. Of course I wish I could have gotten better seats but the ones we had were very nice still. Everything was viewable and I had no complaints.(maybe wishing I was closer to her haha) None the less it was a very great show and I can't wait till the next time she is in San Diego.

    Rihanna was Spectacular!

by KingJasonTheG on 5/12/16Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl San Diego State University - San Diego

Rihanna was absolutely amazing. I've seen her on the LOUD Tour and 2011 and the Diamonds World Tour in 2013. It's worth saying that the sets, props, and outfits are much more toned-down and simplified from those tours, but Rihanna more than makes up for it. I love her because every time I see her on tour, her vocals, dance moves, and energy are significantly improved, and this time is no exception. Don't get me wrong. She was great in 2011, but now, she's hitting amazing notes and doing full-on choreography, not missing a note or a step for the full few hours. The beginning of the concert was the most magical for me. I was not in floor seats, but I was in one of the first rows for elevated seating. Rihanna started the concert in the back, basically right in front of me, singing what I consider to be some of her most beautiful songs, "Stay" and "Love the Way You Lie (Part 2)." Her voice and her smile were absolutely mesmerizing, and I could've sworn our eyes met. As a moving platform brought her to the front stage, she pulled off some of the sexiest moves while singing songs like "Sex With Me." The rest of the concert had minimal sets and props. The lighting gave the mood for each song, and the dancers gave it their all. The stage mainly only had her band and back-up singers. Rihanna's outfits were simple yet hot, often monochromatic with some kind of shawl that she would discard after one or two songs. As a result, her costume changes were not long at all, making sure not to deprive the crowd of her beauty. San Diego was supposed to be her first concert of the ANTI World Tour back in February before she got sick and had to postpone around the same time she had to back out of her performance at the Grammys. She acknowledged it and spent some time interacting with the lucky fans who had front-row seats and others in the front section. The end of the concert was nearly as magical as the beginning, once again hitting her more musically challenging songs. "Diamonds," of course, was flawless as always, with each note as inspiring as the next. "FourFiveSeconds," my favorite post-Unapolagetic song, was absolutely stunning as she delivered attitude and power. "Love on the Brain" was the stand-out performance to me, with her hitting the high notes seemingly effortlessly as if she hasn't been singing and dancing for the past couple hours. Lastly, she ended the concert perfectly with "Kiss It Better," complete with stellar vocals and killer guitar, just like the studio version. As she sank into the stage, I knew that I would definitely have to see her again.

by Chargerbee84 on 5/12/16Viejas Arena at Aztec Bowl San Diego State University - San Diego

Rihanna was so amazing, she made it happened. I would definitely go to another of her concerts. The only thing that sucked is that it was on a Monday.
