Miami Hurricanes Football History
The Miami Hurricanes are a college football powerhouse with five national championships, nine conference titles and over 40 bowl game appearances – which includes six high-profile Orange Bowl wins. Founded in 1926, the Miami Hurricanes were independent for much of their existence until the team joined the Big East in 1991. Since 2004, Miami has been a part of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hurricanes' roster of famous players includes dozens players that went on to be NFL stars and Pro Football Hall of Famers, including quarterback Jim Kelly, wide receiver Michael Irvin, center Jim Otto, linebacker Ray Lewis and defensive tackles Warren Sapp and Cortez Kennedy. Miami also has two Heisman Trophy winners, quarterbacks Vinny Testaverde in 1986 and Gino Torretta in 1992. Several of Miami's most winning head coaches, including Jimmy Johnson and Dennis Erickson, went on to coach in the NFL.
The Hurricanes have multiple longtime rivalries, including one with in-state foes the University of Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles, as well as intra-division Virginia Tech. The feud between Miami and Florida State, which dates back to 1951, has been particularly fierce since the ’80s, as the two teams have taken turns spoiling each other's championship aspirations. During seasons when all three Florida teams play against one another, the squad with the most wins takes home the Florida Cup.
The Hurricanes have also played in several of college football's greatest games. On New Year's Day 1984, Miami cemented its first of five national championships by defeating the heavily favored Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Orange Bowl. The team locked down their second national title in 1987, with an undefeated season that culminated in the Hurricanes dominating the Oklahoma Sooners in the Orange Bowl. In November 1991, Miami eked out a win over Florida State in a game dubbed Wide Right I, due to the Seminoles' kicker missing a game-winning field goal. With the win, the Hurricanes not only ended Florida State's title hopes, but they also eventually earned a spot in the Orange Bowl, where they shut out the Cornhuskers and ranked first in that year's final Associated Press rankings.

Miami Hurricanes Football at Hard Rock Stadium
The Hurricanes play at Hard Rock Stadium, which is also home of the NFL's Miami Dolphins. The 64,767-seat facility in Miami Gardens is located just over 20 miles from the university’s Coral Gables campus and was most recently renovated in 2015. In 2017, Miami competed on their home turf during the annual Orange Bowl, which has been hosted at Hard Rock Stadium since 2016.
The University of Miami Hurricanes’ 2023 regular season kicks off in September at home as the Hurricanes face off against the Miami University RedHawks. The Hurricanes will play their final game of the regular season at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts against ACC opponents the Boston College Eagles. Coach Golden made my day after I saw he was coming back. I expect to see alot from this coach. I am impressed with him and feel that this is what we have needed for a very long time. I can't wait for next season!!!
My husband has always been a huge fan of Miami Hurricanes. Me being the GREAT wife I am, purchased tickets for him to see the game live for our wedding anniversary. I knew he always wanted to see a Hurricanes game live. I'm not a huge fan of watching football games on TV all the time, but let me tell you. The game LIVE is so much more exciting. I really enjoyed the game, and the fans! SEBASTIAN was AWESOME!! He really got the fans hyped up! If you ever get a chance to watch your favorite team LIVE, do it. If you don't have a favorite team, we always have room for TRUE Canes fans at the U!
Canes were clicking on offense and defense with just a few let-downs. Seats were extremely high in the upper deck west end zone, but the instant replay helped follow plays on the opposite side of the field. Sun Life Stadium is not a great football stadium as the setbacks from the field are so far, but it's the only option to watch a home game for the Canes. FSU is the next challenge. Go Canes!
Even though UM didn't win, it was still a good game. We had two chances to tie the game in the last 90 secs but I'm happy we didn't get blown out like the last game at the Orange Bowl against Virginia.

Had a great time. Tailgating was exceptional. The weather could not have been better. The fact that we won the game made everything perfect.

Great event. Was able to take my kids to a game were they was able to enjoy it with out and Drunk Adults nearby. Kids had a blast, as well as me and my wife. And we came away with a WIN.. Go U...............

Hadn't been to a game in many years due to a move that took me states away. It was great to tailgate with old friends and my tickets were great!!! Go Canes!!
I gave the tickets to my daughter and son-in-law for his birthday. They had an amazing time, said the seats were fantastic and the only thing that could have been better is that the Hurricanes should have won the game! We'll get 'em next time!
We got some Canes over here...whoo whoo! Amazing! From beginning to end. The fact that we won the game made the experience a whole lot better. I'm glad Al Golden got his first win as a Cane by beating those buckeye's.
good game parking was ok. the people were pretty evenly match as fars as miami vs ohio fans
Had a great time at the game with 3 friends. One of them an Ohio State grad student. She didn't like the outcome, but had a great time.Tailgated for a few hours. Friendly people all around us.
I know you could call this sour grapes, but I have been to Madison, Evanston, Ann Arbor, W. Lafayette, Columbus (as a visitor on multiple occasions), Champaign, San Antonio, Pasadena, Capital One Bowl (several times), Tampa, and others and this has to have been one of the poorest experiences. Mind you most of these experiences have NOT been as an OSU fan. I found the following to be my experience at the Hurricane game. --Walking to the stadium from the outer parking areas, you are forced to walk through tailgaters that had been at the stadium for hours with no clear walkways, getting heckled and sworn at, and bumped into by drunk Hurricane fans all along the walk. --We got into the stadium to see that the OSU fans were scattered all over the stadium, yet appeared to make-up about 30% of the crowd (with 10,000 empty seats) --Concessions were PAINFULLY slow... it took 45 minutes to get 4 bottles of water at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. There was absolutely NO sense of urgency by the concession workers. --Multiple food and beverage outages were being shared in line (pizza, beer, soda, popcorn, water, etc) --Paper towels in the bathroom were out --Sound system took away from the "college football experience" --The band is weak and the amplification of the band is distracting --Crowd in the stadium was generally well-behaved, but as anywhere a few bad apples can taint the experience. Cordial is NOT how I would define the crowd at all. --While we were in the stadium (paying $75 and up for our tickets), they were advertising next weeks game for $19 per ticket... made me feel like I had been taken to the Hurricane Cleaners. --Crowd after the game was expectantly rude, but we were ready for it. --It took over an hour to get out of the parking lot and over 90 minutes to get out away from the stadium area...simply unacceptable. Really, even if one of my teams was to play Miami in the future, I would have to think long and hard before I would spend my hard-earned dollars on this ThUg-like (Miami's word not mine)/Not Ready for Prime Time football experience. Miami fans certainly don't turn out. Thanks!
Enjoyed the game and seats-maybe being a little closer to the field wouldve been better. Being Miami fans couldnt have been at a better game. Looking forward to other games and using ticketmaster again!
The venue was great as it should be since the Hurricanes play their home games at Sun Life Stadium home of the Miami Dolphins. SOME of The Hurricane Fans were not so welcoming. I think the University should step up and give some fans a manditory lesson in how to behave towards the opposing teams fans. Ripping off the necklace was not the appropriate jesture when being asked not to swing a towel in an opposing fans face. I was very surprised to see spirited drinks in wide spread thru out the parking area and offered in the stadium for a NCAA event. I have traveled to other Universities and this was not an option for the fans at those games. Maybe Miami University should look at that policy.
I've never seen such a Angry crowd of people. As an opposing fan going into a Hurricanes game, trust me! You will not feel safe. There's not nearly enough security to control the maniacs there spitting their venom and cussing out elderly fans that are just trying to watch kids play football. It's an insane, uncontrolled environment. Miami needs an on campus location that doesn't allow in stadium alcohol.
