About

An “out-of-body experience for ‘Lucy’ fans” according to Showbiz Chicago, I LOVE LUCY® LIVE ON STAGE takes audiences back to 1952 as members of the Desilu Playhouse studio audience where they await the filming of two hilarious and oh-so-familiar I LOVE LUCY® episodes, “The Benefit” and “Lucy Has Her Eyes Examined.”

A charming host entertains and enlightens the crowd to the behind-the-scenes filming process of a brand new thing called “television,” the Crystaltone Singers perform advertising jingles in perfect 50s style harmony and the sidesplitting antics of America’s favorite foursome – Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel – are presented live on stage and in color for the very first time! It’s a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience TV Guide’s William Keck calls “the most entertaining stage production I’ve seen in years – including Broadway!”

    Entertaining & Lots of Laughs!

by LucyFan100 on 12/17/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I have been an I Love Lucy fan my whole life and it was wonderful to see a live performance! The inclusion of commercials really put the era into perspective. The actors were amazing, Ricky was particularly great! And of course the venue was beautiful.

Very entertaining, I thought the actors were right on point and paid homage to the original cast from the TV show.

    Awesome Show!!!!!

by zipper64 on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

This was our choice for our Christmas play this year and I am so thrilled that we did. An absolutely amazing show. The cast was awesome and even my 7 year old granddaughter belly laughed so hard and she had not yet seen an I Love Lucy episode. She has now requested to take home my complete series of I Love Lucy DVD's to watch!!!! Highly recommend this play to everyone.

    I Love Lucy!

by CJoe2 on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

This was very well put together. You felt like you were back in 1951 sitting in the audience watching the show. All the actors were great. The man who played the announcer and the one who played Desi Arnaz were spot on. I also saw it a few years ago at the Water Tower theatre. That was a bit better than the Bank of America Theatre because it felt more like you were in a TV studio.

Accent was authentic and Lucy's voice was great

by capsized on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I enjoyed the length of the play with no breaks in the action. The MC kept the play moving with his wittiness. The commercials with all the singers were memorable, especially Dinah Beach with the Chevrolet jingle which was awesome. The band in the nightclub was well costumed. Fred, Lucy, and Ricky were believable characters who played their parts well.

Had a great time, great performances. If I had to choose and I will RICKY was the best. sounded and even looked like the real Ricky - great singing. I loved the commercials and the variety of entertainment comedy, singing, dancing all rolled into one great play. Thank you to the cast well worth the money. Thank you

I Love Lucy - cute but not really recommended

by MyReview100 on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

I lived through I Love Lucy era and found it was mildly entertaining on that level but also somewhat hokie - If someone like the I Love Lucy TV show they would probably enjoy the show although it offers nothing new. It was cute representing the old time TV staging and familiar characters . It is clean fun and suitable for family members of all ages.

I LOVE LUCY: The Time Machine!!!

by DurlsNightOut on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

This play was WONDERFUL!!! It was like being transported to the best of the year 1949. The costumes were beautiful, the music was inspiring. All of the cast was perfect, but watching EURIAMIS LOSADA as Ricki Ricardo was just like watching Dezi Arnaz, himself. When he sang "babaloo", I had tears in my eyes. He was brilliant!

    Family fun

by 4grace2u on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

This is a clean family friendly show. Kid will laugh even if they have never seen the TV show, but anyone who has seem the TV show will get more out of it. There is audience involvement , singing, dancing and comedy. The guy playing Ricky steels the show. He is great. It is an hour and forty-five minutes with no intermission. It is not a huge fast placed production, but our group age 11 to 50 all enjoyed the show.

    We ALL Love Lucy

by mrmrsmertz on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

A packed house at the 108 year old Bank Of America Theatre enjoyed the one hour forty-five minute trip back in time to the Desilu studio to be a live audience for the taping of the I Love Lucy Show. Very clever how the production incorporates audience as participants. The wife and I had smiles on our faces from start to finish. The costumes are of the era (fifties) as well as the commercials. I can't say enough about the actors/characters. Lucy, Desi, Fred & Ethel, ALL have their roles down to a tee.Their voices, accents, facial expressions, antics, and gestures are spot on. What a fabulous experience to be part of. As a surprise to my wife, I picked up front row seats to the show. She had no idea we were going to see I Love Lucy Live On Stage until we rounded the corner and she saw the name and lights on the marquee. This is a MUST see production if you are an I Love Lucy fan, and you have to admit...We ALL Love Lucy.

Lucy cute at Bank of America

by Traciel2002 on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

The production of "I Love Lucy" was very cute and well done. Everyone gave their all in the performances, even the advertisement singers (who were often the highlight of the show, in my opinion!). Lucy did fine but seemed a bit exaggerated at times; the rest of the main cast were great, especially Ricky. Laughed a lot, enjoyed myself and would recommend it to a friend. Thanks for a fun time!

This could have been so much better....

by SuzieJo on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

If they must borrow from actual Lucy episodes, choose better ones. But, they could have combined many of her best slapstick and other characteristic Lucy-Ricky moments and made it FABULOUS.

    I Love Lucy

by YeseniaG on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

The show took me back to old I Love Lucy episodes. I loved the actor who played Ricky, but I was unsure about the actress who played Lucy. It changed within minutes. She captured Lucy's characters perfectly! I recommend it to any I Love Lucy fans!

It's hard to play iconic stars

by Shaved on 12/16/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

Even in Lucy's comedy there was a timing and grace to her work. Can't be done with a costume. And boy could Desi play the drums. They needed a drum stunt man.

    I Love Lucy was fair

by NotaFanofILoveLucy on 12/15/14Bank of America Theatre - Chicago

There was something wrong with the sound system or something. I couldn't hear the singers very much, despite what looked like mics on their heads. The music itself wasn't that great. The number with the "maids" or whoever I think was purposely supposed to be bad. I don't like watching bad singing or music. Well acted, however, and the costumes were great.
