About

The world inside Tupac Shakur’s music and lyrics blazes to life in an entertaining new musical!

Broadway has always given voice to popular culture and social change.  South Pacific, West Side Story, Hair, and Rent are among the hits that hit home.  Now Broadway gives voice to the lyrics of Tupac Shakur, whose music has sold over 75 million albums.

Holler If Ya Hear Me is a riveting, non-biographical story about friendship, love, change, family and hope—an original work that is at once a love story and an unretouched picture of life in the streets.

The seating in the orchestra level of the Palace Theatre has been reconfigured to create a more intimate experience for the audience.  The stage has been moved closer to the audience and the seats are now stadium style, making every seat prime viewing.

Holler If Ya Hear Me brings together some of the theater’s most prominent creative talents.  Directed by Kenny Leon (A Raisin in the Sun, Fences) with an original book by Todd Kriedler (Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner), with choreography by Tony Award® winner Wayne Cilento (Wicked, How to Succeed…), and musical supervision by Daryl Waters (Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring In ‘Da Funk, The Color Purple, Memphis.)

Don’t miss this chance to experience the sheer brilliance of one of the 20th century’s most prophetic and influential voices whose message continues to echo throughout our culture today.

The show will begin promptly at the time stated. No late seating.

    OUTSTANDING, 2PAC LIVES FOREVER !!!

by Merc21 on 7/9/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

The play was outstanding. It was more than what I expected. I recommended to everyone. Even if you not familiar with 2Pac's music or poetry. The storyline is a everyday struggle. It's a story that is everyone could relate in someway. A story that its always reported on a daily bases.

Required for knuckleheads and little old ladies

by Woodyjam on 7/9/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

Familiar with Tupac Shakur but not his music. What a gifted poet and rapper he was. The play exposed me to his poetry and the story line was awesome. This play should be required for our young men and little old ladies like me who wish to expand their horizon. It was vibrant, moving and the talent first rate. Don't worry about where you sit - every seat is a good one. Disappointed that theater was not sold out. Every show should be!

    Loved it!

by sallysimply on 7/8/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

I am so happy that I ignored the criticism and the questions of "what is this?" and "who should see this?" because I LOVED this musical. I will admit that the book isn't the best, but the music and musical arrangements were wonderful, as were the dancing, acting, and set design. To answer the question of "who should see this?" I'm going to go with anybody who has ever struggled to break out of the box society or their parents or they themselves put them in, anybody who understands that life can be complicated at times, anybody who has struggled to discover who they really are and what they value, anybody who has fought the system or wanted to fight the system or just questioned the system, and anybody who wants to have a great time at a Broadway show. I imagine there are quite a lot of people who fit into at least one of these buckets, so it's a shame that there's this sense now that only young people from the hood should see it, or only Tupac fans, or whatever else. I'm not that young, I'm not from the hood, I'm not even a big Tupac fan, but I still loved it and received the message it was sending loud and clear.

    Pleasantly Surprised

by ProfessorFader on 7/7/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

wasn't sure how i would respond to Pac's music in a theatrical setting. I adjusted quickly as production was strong enough to carry the message but still present itself in a way that was enjoyable for both people who may or may not be familiar with "most" of Pac's writing. The production made a good attempt to show the struggle of opinions in his works. some technical issues with sound hear and there (mic drop outs) and some of the actors delivered lines stronger than others. overall a good show. I love seeing Hip hop music on Broadway. hopefully this wont be the last. Thanks

Great use of Tupac's lyrics. The cast was amazing and the delivery was just right. You don't have to be a Tupac fan to go see, but I'm sure you will become one after you do!

Holler If Ya Hear Me!!- I heard ya

by TAB17580 on 7/7/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

The entire show was great from beginning to end. It displayed how the decisions we make can impact the lives of others. The concept of change was also evident. Oftentimes we hear stories of violence in the community but never get to see that true happy ending. The music was orchestrated beautifully, I appreciated how Tupac's music was authentic throughout the show. Dyllon Burnside did a great job playing the role of Anthony, he displayed what many youth/young adults deal with and it felt very real. The entire cast was outstanding!

    Loved it!

by Anonymous on 7/5/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

We enjoyed this show. It was a great message and it brought awareness to issues that have been ongoing in inner cities (violence, retaliation, money schemes, drug paraphernalia, peer pressures to conform to street life, incarceration, broken homes.. etc). It was great how the Director used Pac's lyrics to create the story; it definitely brought Tupac's words to life. I think everyone should give it a chance and let go of their ideology of what a Broadway show is suppose to be. You definitely have to be open and willing to step out of the box you've given yourself. These stories need to be told!

Holler if ya hear me was amazing!!!

by Anonymous on 7/4/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

Was a little skeptical about seeing this play especially cause I didn't real know too much of what it was about, but I am definitely glad I went. The music & actors were amazing, the story line was great and kept my attention the whole way through. It's a play I would definitely go see again. 2Pac would be proud of how they represented his music in this play. A definite must see for everyone, no matter if your a 2Pac fan or not. This is an amazing play.

    Pleasant surprise

by MJD007 on 7/3/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

I was surprised at just how much I liked this show. As a 63 year old white broad, raised on classical music and show tunes, I hadn't thought this would be a good fit for me. However, I was hopeful that this would be this generation's Rent. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It has taken what Lin Manuel started in In the Heights and taken it that step further. The plot was predictable but interesting. The performances were first rate. Production values were high. I had been afraid that the sound would be blasting so much that I would miss the lyrics. That wasn't the case. I liked the choice of music so that not all the songs were pure rap. The brilliant Tonya Pinkins was under-used, but other than that, it was a terrific show.

    You Need To See HOLLER!!!

by DirectorOfMusic on 7/2/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

I went to see "Holler If Ya Hear Me". The cast and musical arrangements were stellar. Every performer was exhilarating and gave their heart and soul. The storyline is one that will draw you in from the start. I grew up on Tupac Shakur (was in high school at the height of his career) and I liked some of his songs, but they took on new meaning when brought to life by Tony-Award-Winning-Director, Kenny Leon, and this extremely talented cast. The lead characters gave compassionate performances and the ensemble was incredible. I highly recommend this show to all theatre goers, as it is becoming an integral part of Musical Theatre.

by Keta16 on 7/1/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

Holler if Ya Hear Me delivered a positive message and encompassed Tupac's music in the manner it was always intended. It was not about his life but the life of minorities and the opportunities to make choices and changes. All-in-all it was amazing...I'd see it again!

Disappointed....but good dancing, singing & rappin

by LeeLee8 on 7/1/14Palace Theatre New York - New York

I thought the script was disjointed especially in the first act. I couldn't follow what was going on! The second act improved but personally, I don't think it's a Broadway worthy production...off Broadway at best. The dancing, rappin and singing was excellent. Half of the comedic moments went completely over the audience's head. The story line was ok but they REALLY need to work on the script. I am disappointed...not Kenny Leon's best. Too bad they are billing it as the "Hip Hop Generation's Broadway debut." I am sure there are better scripts that would have a hip hop theme.
