About

For nearly a decade, HAMILTON at New York’s Richard Rodgers Theatre, with its innovative mix of history and hip-hop, has remained “The Room Where It Happens” on Broadway. The groundbreaking Lin-Manuel Miranda production, based on Ron Chernow’s 2004 biography of founding father Alexander Hamilton, has gripped theatergoers since its 2015 debut. Immediately hailed as another milestone achievement by Miranda, who previously won a Tony Award and a Grammy for his first musical, In The Heights, HAMILTON became the most-nominated production in Tony Awards’ history and won 11 of its 16 contests, the second-largest haul in the ceremony's history. Among many other accolades, the musical earned a Pulitzer Prize in Drama, two Emmys for the stage film released on Disney+ in 2020, and a Grammy for the 2015 original Broadway cast recording, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and became the first Broadway cast album to reach Diamond certification by the RIAA in 2023. While it certainly made Lin-Manuel Miranda as much of a household name as the man behind his titular role, HAMILTON also launched the careers of his castmates, including Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr, Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler, Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.

It’s been exceptional and we had a fantastic evening!

by M. L. on 3/3/20Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The show was great... but have to say that obtaining the tickets was a hassle. It’s strange to only receive the tickets a few hours before the event and could only reach someone from the ticket office by phone. Happy it worked and the show exceeded our expectations!!

    Blown away!

by Helen B on 3/3/20Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Efficient admission and security at the theatre and whilst our seat was high up we still had a great view. The show itself was incredible, easily the best show I have ever seen. The concept was clever and energetic and the performances of the actors were faultless. I downloaded the soundtrack as soon as I got back to my hotel room!

    Great show painful experience

by History Buff on 2/28/20Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Hamilton is a very long show at 3 hours. That would explain why it starts at 7PM instead of usual 8PM. The story line requires every minute of the 3 hours so that's not my complaint. My complaint is the seating in the theater. I'm 6'-4" and our seats were in Front Mezzanine. Apparently, when the theater was built, people were a lot shorter than today. Once I squeezed myself into my seat my knees were touching the persons head on front of me and there was no place to move. About 3/4 through the first act I lost feeling in my legs and had to get up and leave my row. Stood up in the exit for the rest of the show joining a few other over 6' tall guys. The ushers brought me a folding chair to sit in for the rest of the performance. Apparently a common occurance. My warning about this theater: if your over 6' tall make sure you reserve the front row in the Upper Balcony, aisle seats, or seats in one of the 8 Booths on either side of Theater.

    Awesome show. Singing was WOW.

by Illy on 2/26/20Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

My seats were top tier (middle) 2nd row seats 1,2 &3... we saw the show fine. I would have liked to sit in the 3rd row next time. The show is GOOD but I still think the tickets are way over priced. I went to see "Aint to Proud" and that musical was unbelievable prices were reasonable. Thats how it should be so that all families can experience a good time without breaking the bank!

    A Good Show

by F.mcD on 2/25/20Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

All in all, a very good show. The highlights were the actors who play Hamilton (JJ Jeter) and King George (Euan Morton), both of whom are incredible, and the choreography; Thwayne Jasperson is especially good. The only weak point of the show is the actor who plays Lafayette (James Iglehart), who tries a French accent and so badly muddles the words that he is very difficult to understand. that is a minor complaint, though. Go see the show for yourself -- it is a good show.

    Worth the wait!

by Kjwhey on 2/23/20Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

A trip to NYC to see Hamilton was our children’s big Christmas gift. They’ve been singing the soundtrack the past five years, and have every line memorized. The production did not disappoint!! We were all riveted!! The pit, the choreography, the performances were all amazing!! The cherry on top was that most of the actors came out and signed playbills, took pictures, and were extremely gracious!! The perfect evening!!!
