About

For nearly a decade, HAMILTON at New York’s Richard Rodgers Theatre, with its innovative mix of history and hip-hop, has remained “The Room Where It Happens” on Broadway. The groundbreaking Lin-Manuel Miranda production, based on Ron Chernow’s 2004 biography of founding father Alexander Hamilton, has gripped theatergoers since its 2015 debut. Immediately hailed as another milestone achievement by Miranda, who previously won a Tony Award and a Grammy for his first musical, In The Heights, HAMILTON became the most-nominated production in Tony Awards’ history and won 11 of its 16 contests, the second-largest haul in the ceremony's history. Among many other accolades, the musical earned a Pulitzer Prize in Drama, two Emmys for the stage film released on Disney+ in 2020, and a Grammy for the 2015 original Broadway cast recording, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and became the first Broadway cast album to reach Diamond certification by the RIAA in 2023. While it certainly made Lin-Manuel Miranda as much of a household name as the man behind his titular role, HAMILTON also launched the careers of his castmates, including Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr, Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler, Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.

    Impressive but not great

by shorty73 on 10/22/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Performance was enjoyable! Cast was impressive on their ability to tell the entire story as a complete musical. It was really fast at some points to understand what they were saying. It was VERY hard to follow in my opinion. Theatre is beautiful but tiny. I'm not sure the show is worth the huge price tag

Hamilton was everything I hoped for!

by Really! on 10/22/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Lyn Manuel Miranda is a genius, an artist, a compassionate individual, and possibly a clairvoyant. His "timely" masterpiece teaches, engages multi-age audiences, entertains, and artistically brings history to life. The seating in the mezzanine provided an excellent vantage point, but very little space for feet and legs, requiring hips, knees, and ankles to assume a severe angle of flex for 90 minutes without room to adjust. I'm a trim 5' 2" with a 29" inseam. The opportunity to purchase tickets through Ticketmaster's verified human process in greatly appreciated, it made it possible for us to see Hamilton.

    Superb Broadway Play

by J. K. on 10/21/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Hamilton was one of the best Broadway Plays ever! How Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote an historical play in rap is a tribute to true genius. The music, the choreography, the acting, all fantastic.

    FANTASTIC MILESTONE BIRTHDAY GIFT-BEST EVER!

by Babooette on 10/21/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I celebrated my 20th birthday by seeing Hair off Broadway. I celebrated my 70th birthday by seeing Hamilton on Broadway. Best production I have seen between those two birthdays. Loved it!

    Memorable Evening

by M. Z. on 10/20/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

We had no tfouble entering, even though the numerous emails about the potential problems with the e-ticket were concerning. The staff at the theater were polite and helpful. Our seats were great. We enjoyed the performance.

by s. y. on 10/20/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

We saw the show while in Seattle and wanted to also have the New York experience. It was worth it! Just as it’s hyped - amazing, talented actors. Thank you for a wonderful night

Amazing. I wanted to see it again immediately after.

by J.E. Portland on 10/20/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I see lots of theatre - big and small, and Hamilton is in its own realm. The writing, music, execution, story...brilliant. Exceeded my expectations and they were high. A must for your spirit :)

    Loved the show!

by RJRCole on 10/19/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

This show is phenomenal! Music and performances are stellar! I can’t say the same about audience members. People sitting right in front of us were talkers. We asked them to quote but they looked at us as if we were a problem. Woman 3 seats down from us had her cell phone on. I’d like to think this is isolated experience but in this day and she perhaps not. We still LOVED the show - what a treat!

    NYC visit to see Hamilton

by j. h. on 10/18/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The entire trip with my family to NYC was perfect. The main reason we came was the gift of Hamilton tickets last Christmas from my sister. I lived and worked in Manhattan for several years but have lived in Ga for over 30. My husband and I and daughters saw Hamilton at the Fox in Atlanta and couldn't wait to see it in New York. We were NOT disappointed. There is nothing like a broadway show and Hamilton was absolutely terrific! And we came on a Sunday matinee when the understudy played the lead role. He was great, the show amazing and the entire long week end a gift. Manhattan is my birthplace and my favorite city. We try to come every year and if possible will see Hamilton again next year when we visit!

    So fantastic!!

by Jan on 10/18/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

The whole experience was great. Ticketmaster website was easy to navigate. Purchasing the tickets was easy. Ticketmaster sent several reminders and tips for getting the app and arriving early etc. The show itself was amazing! We reviewed the sound rack in advance which was very helpful. 5 stars all around.

    Great play. Bad theatre.

by CP58 on 10/18/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Play is outstanding. Expect long lines and full on TSA type security to get in the theatre. $24 for a glass of $8 bottle/cheap wine. Concessoon prices are theft even by NY standards. Ushers shouting instructions in the lobby like a carnival barker. Long lines for rest rooms too. Did I mention that the play is outstanding. It has to be good for one to put up with all the other inadequicies.

    So good!

by Mmmmmmmm on 10/18/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I really enjoyed my experience from start to finish. Everyone taking tickets and directing people were very nice. My ticket was up in the mezzanine but I had a great view! The show itself was excellent (of course) - I don’t think I can get through “it’s quiet uptown” without being a teary mess. The actors were all fantastic!! A great experience all around!!

    Overrated

by Simon on 10/17/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Honestly kind of boring almost fell asleep during the show. For the price of tickets, it is overrated. What was pretty cool was that the types of music offered was a blend on modern and old school. There were rap battles, raping and lots of vocals.

James Monroe Iglehart is AMAZINGLY MAGICAL!

by PJ on 10/15/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

Decided to bite the bullet to finally see Hamilton and so glad I did! The cast was phenomenal and was ecstatic to see James Monroe Iglehart was still in the cast as I thought he had left the show. Loved him in Aladdin and loved him even more with a French accent as Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson. Don't miss this cast if you have a chance!

    As I Expected: Spectacular!

by Kamikinzzz on 10/15/19Richard Rodgers Theatre - New York

I’ve been listening to the soundtrack for this Show for the last 1.5 yrs. I could never afford the ticket but was given one as a gift. The show was better than expected. Absolutely amazing. I brought my friend who usually doesn’t like musicals and he enjoyed it so much. Definitely recommend going. It’s worth it.
