FLEETWOOD MAC IN CONCERT:
The Rumours are true: Fleetwood Mac will be joined by Christine McVie for their 2014 world tour, and the band is just as excited about it as their fans. McVie left the band for personal reasons back in 1998, making the Mac's subsequent touring somewhat of a bittersweet experience for concertgoers. Bittersweet no more, however — fans lucky enough to score a ticket to Fleetwood Mac's 2014 On With the Show tour will get to experience McVie classics like "Everywhere" and "Little Lies" alongside Fleetwood Mac staples like "Dreams" and "Rhiannon," marking the first time in nearly 20 years the band's classic lineup has toured together.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Legendary British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac was formed in 1967 by Peter Green and Mick Fleetwood. After moderate success as a no-frills blues band in the late '60s, the group underwent a turbulent period marked by lineup changes and lawsuits in the early '70s. With the additions of Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks by 1975, the band entered their most successful period, riding to both critical and commercial acclaim with a string of No. 1 albums including Rumours (1977) and Mirage (1982). The group's chemistry both in and out of the studio resulted in some of the era's most enduring hits, and the continued popularity of songs like "Dreams," "Gypsy," and "Sara," have made them one of the top-selling acts of all time. Following Christine McVie's departure in 1998, the band continued to tour with a scaled-down lineup, thrilling fans in 2014 with the announcement of McVie's return for their On With the Show tour.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"This was the best concert that I have seen in years. They can still rock the house. Stevie Nicks still has a fantastic voice. Lindsey's guitar playing was out of this world."
"Stevie hasn't sounded this flawless in almost 20 years. Just absolutely awesome. GREAT energy by everybody in the band. The chemistry was excellent and I think the band had as good of a time as the audience."
"Extremely enjoyable----the band is absolutely PROFESSIONAL---onstage for 2 1/2+ hours and appearing to enjoy every minute. Their sound is magnificent----unbelievable for 40 years in the business!!"
Concert was great and brought back a lot of memories. Too bad Lindsay Buckingham and Stevie Nicks can't get along well enough to share the stage. He was missed.
Great concert ~ almost 3 hours of nonstop music! Great memories brought back by FM
Have to say, I LOVED it all!! Loved the vocals by Christine and Stevie- they still are spot on! The instrumentals were outstanding- really enjoyed Mick Fleetwood at the drums- WOW- wonderful to watch him doing his thing! John McVie was awesome too- just great to sit back and hear all those great songs from years ago come alive again by the band who created them and made life great!! Fantastic concert- highly recommend!!
I thought Fleetwood Mac performed great for the Fleetwood Mac songs they played. I saw Fleetwood Mac three years ago when Lindsey Buckingham was still with the band, and the actual play list of the Fleetwood Mac songs without him was limited.
It was a wonderful show. I think what they did at the end for Tom Petty was awesome. Everyone that I talked to enjoy the concert a lot. Would go again and again and again
One of the best shows I have been two. Every song they played you knew, and could sing along to. Very entertaining and there was never a dole moment. Had me on my feet the entire time!
Too many songs from too long ago that most people don't know or care about. it was obvious when those songs played because you saw a mass exodus of people leaving to use the restroom or concessions. Maybe thats the intent. this concert was good, but it could have been so much better if Stevie Nicks had sung some of her songs when she was solo instead of the band singing some of those old songs of when they first started that the majority of people have never heard of.
They played for over two hours and the sound was great
The concert was great. Show excellent. Prices ridiculously high.
They played songs from Peter Green which is not what made them famous. It appeared they avoided any songs written by Lindsay Buckingham
Concert was amazing. Only down side was starting 20 minutes late.
Bucket List Complete!!!! Amazing show - best concert ever!!!
Good but didn’t play all the songs I was hoping for and played others I had never heard of
Great show - loved all the sot in ngs played and the musicians are fantastic! First time to see them in concert and will go and see them again. Van Andel is a great place for concerts as it is really easy to park and to exit the facility. Staff are great.
Great concert with an emphasis on all members contributing to the performance. Loved the tribute to Tom Petty.
I really appreciated the Tom.Petty tribute and the songs from the archives. Third time seeing them the last 5 years and they did not disappoint! Had to say I missed Lindsay a bit but the new members are awesome musicians in their own right! Great show!
They played all the hits and played them like they have been for many many years.
We really enjoyed this Fleetwood Mac concert as did the couple that came with us. We went to the Concert Club at the United Center first and had cocktails and appetizers. Then we had dinner using the many concessions at the UC. Our seats were fabulous. The concert brought back many great memories!
One of the best shows ever! The Fleetwood Mac band was amazing. They rocked better then any young group! The crowd was amazing and the venue was too!
This concert was grand! Absolutely loved seeing this timeless band!
