DAMIEN RICE IN CONCERT:

Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice began his career in 1991 with indie-rock band Juniper. After the group disbanded in 1998, Rice traveled around Europe for the next year before returning to Dublin to pursue a solo career. Over the course of 12-years Rice has released two full-length albums, two live recordings and an EP. He is best known for his 2002 debut O which was certified Gold in the U.S., selling approximately two million copies worldwide, and featuring the songs “Volcano,” “Cannonball,” and “Blower’s Daughter,” the central pieces of music in Mike Nichols’ Oscar-nominated film Closer. My Favourite Faded Fantasy is Rice’s first album in 8 years and was produced by Rick Rubin and Rice.

    an introverts review

by notsarahjane on 8/15/15South Side Ballroom - Dallas

So, I'm in my early thirties and have not been to a concert since I saw Raffi at the SMU campus when I was, like, 5. I don't like big groups of people (or usually just people in general) but I've been a fan for the past 10 Years or so and decided to step outside of my comfort zone. I bought these tickets the day they went on sale and have had anxiety for the past several months over the thought of having to go stand around in a large group of strangers. But, I did it. And it was one of the best nights of my life. I was so captivated by Mr. Rice's talent and showmanship that I could ignore my discomfort of being surrounded by people I didn't know and just be there. In a room with him and the music. And the whole thing was an almost religious experience. I loved it. The concert was amazing. Mr. Rice was amazing. The experience was amazing. Would gladly brave another incredibly uncomfortable situation again to experience it.

    Dream Come True

by MostPrecious on 7/2/15Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell - Brooklyn

Amazing is all I can say. I'm so happy after all these years I finally got to see Damien Rice perform. I would of gave it 6 stars but the show wasn't long enough and he didn't perform 3 songs that I was looking forward to hearing. The venue is amazing. Laid back and relax feel. Not expensive at all. We'll worth it.

    Damien Rice...killin it on ohio

by JulsSEO on 6/29/15LC Pavilion - Columbus

Aside from the juvenile folks next to us who insisted on stage whispering "SHHHHH" at other grown ass adults, this show was a total smash. Mr Rice is truly one of the most talented musicians I've had the pleasure of seeing in person and I can not wait to see him again. Mercilessly made love to our ears and our brains, and I'm sure that everyone left feeling lighter in spirit after the shared experience. Much love to you Mr Rice...and I send kudos to those manning the sound table because it sounded like heaven.

Damien Rice was moving and awe-inspiring

by Blownawaydamienricefan on 6/28/15Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell - Brooklyn

While Damien Rice has been my favorite musician for quite some time, this was my first time seeing him live. I would have been estatic just for him to sing two songs while strumming a guitar, but this show just blew me away. He did open with two acoustic and beauitulf renditions of delicate and cannonball, but his third song brought the use of a loop machine, incredible displays with the lighting, and just awesome musical ability, presence, and power. Every single person in the crowd looked at each other dumbstruck, having no idea of just how good it would actually be. After the third song I turned to my friend and said, "we've already got our money's worth of performance, I could leave now and still call it one of the best shows I've seen". With his charming personality, raw honesty, and passion in the music, the crowd was completely moved. The woman in front of me cried her eyes out. I know it sounds like I'm talking him up because he's my favorite, but every person I talked to at the show said the same things, even my friend who hadn't listened to Damien very much before.

Rice is great but LC Pavilion was the wrong venue

by willvancet on 6/23/15LC Pavilion - Columbus

His acoustic-based performance this time around warranted a classier, more intimate venue with seats. LC Pavilion is cavernous—a modern pole barn of a building without any charm. His warmth and wit fought the space the entire night, but he could not overcome the deficiencies inherent to the venue.

    Awesome!

I was hoping for his band to come out and perform a few songs with him, but Damien Rice solo is just fine by me.

Great music, one complaint about A/V

by campstover on 6/23/15LC Pavilion - Columbus

Damien Rice is always fantastic. Brilliant songs, funny, romantic, angry, all perfect. However, unless you're in the front 'row' on the 2nd floor you have a hard time seeing the performer. Projecting the show on the screens would be appreciated.

Damien Rice was hands down the best artist I have ever had the pleasure to see live. When he played Volcano, I melted. I hope to catch him the next time he's in town!

    Magnificent live on-man band

    by GibbsHu1124 on 6/23/15LC Pavilion - Columbus

Damien showed us how brilliant and versatile he had been by playing guitar, organ, drum etc by himself with phenomenal stage effects. I should not tell you guys more because you need to attend his concert and experience it enjoying the music with Damien by yourself.

How can one man make you feel so much music?!?!

by ADiscriminatingFan on 6/23/15LC Pavilion - Columbus

Damien Rice is a humble, talented and mesmerizing performer. There are very few musicians who realize that the stage is there to be used in its entirety. Mr. Rice is all too familiar with how to fill it with his special personality, charm and talent. I flew in from Maine, so I could take my musician brother to this concert. It was worth all the time, expense and effort. Hey Damien, come visit us around Portland any time. I'll buy you a pint!

Damien Rice was a dream come true

by craewill on 6/23/15LC Pavilion - Columbus

If you want to cry like a baby and see a truly talented performer, see Damien Rice. He popes his heart and soul out on that stage and makes you feel like someone gets you. He knows the deepest corners of emotion and they come through so strong in his music. It was incredible. He seems so down to earth and truly cares for his fans.

    GREAT PERFORMER

by ahbi on 6/22/15Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell - Brooklyn

I went to his concert because of his voice -- his "i want to kill myself" and "it hurts so bad" voice. I loved his albums, and was excited to hear him live. But what stole the show, besides his monster voice, was his performance. He put on such a great show -- it was entertaining, emotional, and the last song (he played 10+ instruments and used a looping machine) was spectacular.

    Fantastic musician and performer

    by JDBaron25 on 6/21/15STAGE AE - Pittsburgh

What an excellent show. It was so much more than just a man and a guitar. Even though that would have been great, he filled the venue with music. Using looping and multiple instruments, he left me amazed.
