DAMIEN RICE IN CONCERT:

Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice began his career in 1991 with indie-rock band Juniper. After the group disbanded in 1998, Rice traveled around Europe for the next year before returning to Dublin to pursue a solo career. Over the course of 12-years Rice has released two full-length albums, two live recordings and an EP. He is best known for his 2002 debut O which was certified Gold in the U.S., selling approximately two million copies worldwide, and featuring the songs “Volcano,” “Cannonball,” and “Blower’s Daughter,” the central pieces of music in Mike Nichols’ Oscar-nominated film Closer. My Favourite Faded Fantasy is Rice’s first album in 8 years and was produced by Rick Rubin and Rice.

    Damien Rice music master

by StanAngela on 6/21/15STAGE AE - Pittsburgh

So far the best concert I have ever gone to. The only regret wad not having somewhere to sit. Packed in like sardines . I would have loved to see him in a bigger venue. He is an amazing performer. When he came out for the encode tears poured from my face.

    Damien was unbelievable

by AshleySax on 6/21/15STAGE AE - Pittsburgh

I've been a Damien Rice fan since his songs appeared in the movie Closer. When he announced a new album I was borderline schizophrenic in anticipation. I've never been disappointed with any project he's done, and his live performance was the best I've seen. I didn't think he was coming to Pgh and nearly bought tickets to his Nashville show - it definitely would have been worth the drive, but I'm thankful he was here in my hometown instead.

Exemplary venue with views galore of the stage. Excellent privledges to the concert goers: bring your lawn chairs blankets and picnic suppers. Performance was exceptionally energetic as a one man show. We ate drank and danced to the slow songs and enjoyed the whole of the crowd.

    A bit rude

by Stella4S on 6/20/15Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell - Brooklyn

The concert was amazing, actually it was beyond expectation. Once the music is so peaceful and touching i thought it would be a quite concert, but Damien alone puts up a amazing show. Recommended for music lovers like me, but that´s a concert i won't attend again because he was extremelly rude. Refuse to take photos when i saw him outside saying he «doesn´t do photos» and in the concert he practically forbides the people to take pictures or whatever. I understand, obviously we are there for the music, but i mean: you wait so many years to meet him in concert, you spent money in a ticket and travel far so that he pretends like he is almighty and you can´t have not even a photo. I mean...the music is amazing, the concert totally recommended, it´s just the superstar ego that make me write this review. After all: it's the fans who put him where he is.

Best concert I've ever been too and I've been to many concerts. Damien Rice was mind blowing, the venue was beautiful, and the staff and audience were so kind.

by Maddiewongart on 6/20/15Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell - Brooklyn

Everything was great! They were cheap on the food portions but that's to be expected with concerts and what not. For what you paid it was really good. Damien was unbelievable!!

    DAMIEN RICE WAS DYN-O-MITE!!!!!

by jenaloi on 6/20/15Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell - Brooklyn

The Damien Rice concert in Prospect Park, Brooklyn was a magical & delightful evening & experience! Everything from the acoustics to the weather positively enhanced such a wonderful & joyful concert! Every single Damien Rice concert that I have seen so far has been stellar! Overall this concert was all things positive except one thing negative which was that the venue end time is 10:30 pm! Damien did his best to play to the very last second which was extremely funny & i was in total agreement with him & his message that he was not cool with the curfew time as well!

    Incredible!

by Kristine1 on 6/20/15Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell - Brooklyn

Damien Rice's performance was absolutely incredible! He commands attention, humbly, and gets it! When he came out on stage, the entire audience was quiet, rare for an outdoor event. I love how he interacts with fans. You will never see the same show twice with Damien, he always changes up his set list & he just keeps getting better and better! Great lyricist, talented musician.

    Damien was TERRIFIC

by Anaqah on 5/9/15Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I have been a long time fan of Damien Rice since he was first introduced to me on KCRW. I have followed his career ever since. However, this was my first opportunity to see him perform live. And he was even better than I expected! His musical performance was top-notch. He played a lot of the songs from his latest cd. And he played some of this older songs as well. In particular, his solo performance of 9 Lives was spectacular! (look for it on youtube). Perhaps even more remarkable and a little surprising to me is that Damien was very interactive with the audience and quite funny! This was the opening night of the Greek Theater (which is my favorite venue - thank you Nederlander). It was a little chilly - even Damien admitted he was cold. But it was a most memorable evening. I am thrilled that I had a chance to attend and I will not think twice about seeing him again. Damien is a very important musical artist and should not be missed.

    Incredible, incredible show!

by QTinDwny on 5/3/15Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

The Damien Rice concert was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. The sound was incredible. The engineers and everyone who makes that possible deserve major kudos. I hadn't been back to The Greek since the last Damien Rice concert some eight years ago. I had forgotten what a special place it is. It is really lovely. The performance itself was unforgettable. I can't think of anything that could have made it better...unless it could last into the wee hours of the night ;-)

Hands down the best concert I have ever been to! Damien Rice was enchanting with not only his beautiful music but also his playful storytelling to the audience. He had me captivated from the second he stepped on the stage and continued to surprise and enthuse us all throughout the entire evening.

    Extraordinary of course

by Evie1212 on 5/1/15Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

It's all about the music and the musician. We know how good that is. But when Damien walked out in a scruffy tee shirt, I knew we would have a remarkable evening, a "here we all are together, let's have a good time" event. He sang everything I could have wanted and told personal stories to go along with the songs. It was intimate and personal and universal just like his music, and fun and funny and Irish charming. The evening was freezing, he was ready to quit, but some thoughtful audience person threw a huge jacket on stage for him, and he carried on. The audience was loud and appreciative from the start and his fans had a unique and enchanting time. And we know how good the music is. He has been my number one artist for years.

    super show

by tapmonster on 4/28/15Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

This was an excellent performance in a great venue. If you have a chance to attend one of his later dates, you should make it a priority. Also if you've never been to the Greek, this is a great venue for concerts. Great size, great surroundings, great sound. Oh! and wine.

    Worth the 10 year wait!

by Healingbiz on 4/28/15Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

I came up from Las Vegas to see Damien & was not disappointed one minute. He came out, just him and his guitar and he was amazing. His music live was even better than recorded. Not too many artists like that! It was very raw, deep and full of emotion. He was an INCREDIBLE guitarist and surprisingly witty. He told the story of most of the songs and talked about his life in Ireland. I took a very manly guy and despite my hesitance of how he'd like it (I thought it would be too chick/love song-ish), he might've loved it even more than me! He talked about it the entire weekend & is a huge fan now! I would see him over & over again. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. This is one of my favorite venues & the night was magical!

    Damien Rice is beyond words!

by BabyGrace on 4/28/15Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

There are no words to describe the amazing evening of music presented by Damien Rice. Just no words. It was well worth waiting 10 years from the last time I saw him live.

    Damien Rice - Brilliant

by TehanMechanic on 4/28/15Greek Theatre - Los Angeles

Nothing like the confessions of a tortured Irishman to warm the night air at such a wondrous, intimate venue with his guitar and endearing story-telling. His use of the 'F' word was often and well-placed. I would come back again, and again, and again...
