Dallas Summer Musicals (DSM) is the preeminent non-profit presenter of Broadway theater in North Texas. DSM produces, presents and promotes excellence in live musical theater with year-round performances for diverse audiences of all ages, impacting the lives of children and families through community outreach and education, and enriching the cultural landscape of Dallas/Fort Worth, North Texas and the Southwest Region.
DSM is the largest producer and presenter of live theatrical entertainment in the Southwest, the second oldest summer theater organization in the United States, and the fourth largest non-profit theater company. In addition to presenting national Broadway tours, DSM also produces shows on Broadway, presents and tours local productions, and is involved in developing new works. DSM is the winner of six Tony awards and two Drama Desk awards.
Sets were amazing, staging was great. My 12 year old grandaughter, said it was best show ever! The actor that played Scar was a show stealer, but all were excellent. Would go again when show comes back to town.
WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL MUSICAL!! THIS IS THE SECOND TIME SEEING THIS MUSICAL AND IT IS STILL MY FAVORITE! THE COSTUMES JUST LEAVE ME IN AWE! HOW DO THEY MAKE THOSE THINGS MOVE THE WAY THEY DO! LOVED IT BEFORE - LOVED IT AGAIN - AND WOULD SEE IT AGAIN!!
I have all ready seen this show before but I loved all the new update and this show is amazing
This production was full of color, beautiful voices, amazing dancers, and astonishing staging and costuming. I don't know when I have enjoyed a production as much as I did this one. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves music and dance. If I ever get an opportunity to see it again, I would definitely try to go again.
Excellent. However, we were unable to enjoy the first hour of the musical because the ushers were seating those people who were not on time. Those people should be required to wait until the intermission if they cannot arrive within 10 minutes of the beginning.
Mufasa, Simba, all those guys were awesome!!! I thought the elephant coming down the aisle was awesome.
This was awesome! My kids loved it! I would highly recommend this to all ages. Costumes were amazing.
The logistics for the show were terrible. Traffic was terrible. Parking was terrible. The lines to get into the fair were terrible. All in all, although we left FOUR hours early we missed the first half of the performance. Won't ever attend another fair park musical again.
Saw the Lion King in New York years ago and it was just as great in Dallas! The costumes are so intricate, expressive and mesmerizing. If you have not seen the Lion King, you need to add it to your must see list.
The Lion King was a breathtaking musical full of sights and sounds to delight the senses. The amazing puppetry was one of the highlights for me. The actor manipulating Tim on was so skilled that he almost disappeared leaving you believing the meerkats to be real. The voices and special effects are some of the best I have ever seen. This is a production that I would attend again and again. Anyone who has not seen it should put it on your bucket list.
It was amazing and the costume design blew my mind.
A group of four moms and our four young daughters went to see The Lion King on a Saturday evening. It was the first live theater experience for some of the little girls, and everyone loved it. Fancy dresses, dinner together, then this magnificent musical. The costumes were amazing, the characters were excellently cast, and the music was great. The Music Hall staff were all very accommodating and courteous. And I must say that with eight ladies in our party, our trip to the ladies' room at intermission was the fastest ever! The women working in the ladies' room have a system, and it works perfectly!
The musical of The Lion King was astounding!! Brought tears to my eyes.
Costumes are amazing. Easy to follow the storyline. Music is wonderful. Singing is okay.

Anyone who grew up loving the Lion King will love this show just as much! It was intriguing! From the dancers to the ensemble to the main characters, everyone gave an amazing performance. The production was also amazing. I want to see it again!
What a terrific show, from the costumes, the stage setting.. and the unforgettable cast. Unlike most shows, there is usually 1 character/actor that stands out; however in the case of the Lion King... everyone was on the same level as each of them were just remarkable! My only complaint which has nothing to do with the show itself, is the frustration my family experience with parking and the chaos with the State Fair. My husband missed the entire show and had to drop off me and our 2 children so we didn't miss the show as he drove around for over an hour to try and find a place to park when he just gave up and sat in McDonald's waiting for the show to end to pick us up. It definitely was disappointing not to have my husband with us; not to mention money wasted on his ticket!
This show was AMAZING. i loved everything about it. The only bad part was parking outside of the event. It was a madhouse and I was afraid i wouldn't make it to the show on time. Events have been in this area of Dallas for literally DECADES and they have still not figured out a better system for parking. It blows my mind.
Seats were horrible with 80% of the view blocked. Ushers assisted people into the performance 1 hour after it had started which was very distracting and disrespectful to the other patrons. Performance was sub-par after seeing it at the Pantagious theater in LA. For the price, it wasn't worth it.
The costumes and face makeup was awesome. Dances and songs were also very good. Somewhat disappointed in the scale of the performance. Seemed to be a smaller cast? Than in previously seen performances of Lion King. Difficult to understand a lot of the dialog. Sound was an issue with the conversation sections.
