With her multi-colored hair, eccentric fashion, and string of decade-defining hits, Cyndi Lauper has become synonymous with ‘80s pop. Her 1983 debut She’s So Unusual was an overnight success – her bubblegum-meets-punk aesthetic resonated with the nascent MTV generation, making her a new wave icon and earning her a Grammy in 1985 for Best New Artist. A talented singer with a mercurial voice, Lauper showed off her impressive range with the 2010 release of Memphis Blues, which remained at No. 1 on the Blues Albums Chart for an impressive 14 weeks and received a Grammy nomination for Best Traditional Blues Album. Born and raised in Queens, Lauper began writing songs at age 12, inspired by legendary jazz vocalists like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. After playing in various cover and new wave bands in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, she became an instant critical and commercial success with her 1983 debut She’s So Unusual. The album produced four Top 5 hits, setting a record for an album debut by a female artist, and included perennial ‘80s anthems “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Time After Time.” On tour in 2013, Lauper impressed ticket buyers with her powerful voice and energetic live concerts, performing her greatest hits along with the entirety of the She’s So Unusual record.

Cyndi was awesome as always, I think the venue could have been a little more accommodating. They kept trying to make it a night at the symphony rather than the great musical concert Cyndi Lauper is. Even with this obstacle Cyndi satisfied with her classics and a great homage to country greats.
Cyndi sounded amazing and was dynamic on the stage, but bottom line, she spent wayyyyyyyyy too much time talking and too little singing. Not only did this cut down on the number of songs she could perform, she would lose the audience during these long stories, the folks around us would begin having conversations, and then when she'd begin singing again, we were distracted by all of the talkers around us!
She had a short playlist maybe 12 to 14 songs so she felt she had to talk between songs sometimes long drawn out boring topics about how the Watermain broke outside of her hotel room and then she had to make girls just want to have fun into a 10 minute song by asking for audience participation
Cyndi is always engaging, entertaining and an incredible performer. Can't wait to see her again... and again!
Great concert, great venue! No bad seat in the house.
Great vibe. She's funny and sharp as a razor. She took us on a wonderful trip back to the 80's. We loved it.
Both performances were excellent! Cyndi did 2 encores, and in the second she performed "Time After Time" and "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" both very spirited and rousing, to a raving crowd.
What could have been wonderful wasn't. Venue - Seats too small and too close. Sound system either not loud enough or muddy. Fellow concert goers - So noisy that along with the poor sound, Charlie was not hearable. Cindy also suffered from interruptions. Performers - Charlie was as much as I could hear as usual; a class act. Cindy was very uneven. Her "stories" were boring and unintelligible. When she was "on", she rocked; both the Cindy standards and her country oldies.
1. Concert scheduled for 7:30 PM. Approx. 7:45 Charlie Musselwhite and crew come out and perform, very entertainingly, for approx. 45 minutes. Then 15 minute wait for Cyndi. So we're at 8:45. 2. Cyndi spent about a third of her time on stage talking. I came to hear her sing!
The opening act "The Mussleman band" was fantastic. Stubbs the guitar player is a very good player and Musslemans harmonica soared. THE ARLINGTON THEATER WAS ABOUT 90 DEGREES ALL NIGHT!!! Which ruined an otherwise great performance by Cyndi Lauper & Mussleman. I will never go to the Arlington again.
First time attending her show... Totally love it! Don't get discourage on the country theme. She sings a few nice country songs but her songs as pop rock!
She can still rock all of her hits plus some country and I'm not much into country. She is definitely worth seeing.
I paid a lot of money to see A idol from the 80's. She was TWO hours late which was cool I had been to many of her concerts and watched her reality show, she's always late! But then she only has like 10 people to see her and she couldn't even be bothered with asking OUR names or even saying hi. Just a quick photo and GET the hell out!! Very sad. That being said she is awesome on stage she sounds amazing but the cute sweet funny person you see is all A act. ALSO this theater has no AC
Cindy sounded and looked amazing. She has a great message. I loved the show and love her!
Her new music is great. Her show is fabulous. She is one of the greatest out there. A living legend. Go see her!!! I plan to go see her again if she tours next year. Love it!!! The opening band was fabulous as well. I had to get their CD. Totally check him out too if you like the blues.
Amazing performance I would highly recommend it to any Cyndi Lauper fans.
Cyndi introduces you to her country side, but does not forget to play hits from what made her popular in the 80's. A great entertainer and full of energy!
Great concert, she rocked it! So impressed that after all these years....she still has IT!
Cyndi sang 3 or 4 songs & spent 15-20 minutes trying to be a comedian. We paid to listen to music, not Cyndi's failed act as a comedian. The F bomb was totally unnecssary so we left the venue early.
