After being extended twice on Broadway, COLIN QUINN LONG STORY SHORT aired as an HBO Special in April 2011. Comically channeling the demise of great world empires, Colin Quinn uses his "articulate brand of comedy" in taking audiences through an uproarious history of the world in 75 minutes. From his personification of Caesar as the original Italian mobster to his complaints about Ancient Greece and Antigone giving way to Costco and Snooki, Quinn is at his satirical best, taking on the attitudes, appetites and bad habits that toppled the world's most powerful nations.
Enjoyable, entertaining, well-done, but I didn't leave wishing I could buy a recording of it.
Colin Quinn was on fire. After months of performing, he really has his bits down. Very funny show, and it makes you think. He came out after the show and was very nice.
Colin Quinn was very funny. He was entertaining, clever and his execution of the material was right on!! The show was well written and thought through. He really gives you something to think about, and so many funny comparisons that are so true but never really analyzed quite the way he did.
Colin Quinn is fabulous! I couldn't keep up--really want to see the show again!!
I would give this show a poor rating because it never gained any momentum, there were a few highs and then he just let them die. I like the concept of the world and all the historical references, excellent idea. However, it was not executed in the sharp, witty comedic banter I would expect from the team of Quinn and Seinfeld. Engagement of the audience perhaps would have kept everyone awake. Also, Colin's constant moving around the set sometimes made it hard to understand the dialogue, he seemed to be mumbling at the end of his sentences as he was trying to get all the information delivered. The video map kept him on task but it offered nothing to the show. The seating attendants needed to do a better job of keeping so much movement happening throughout the show. It was like being at a baseball game with all the up and down going on, plus we had 6 drunk people near us who we had to ask to be quiet several times and they never did. Someone should have escorted them out. I don't know if Colin heard them or not, but it was very distracting. Colin was spewing lots of dialogue so you needed to really pay attention, that was hard with all of the distracions that were going on. I guess my expections were ramped up pretty high and it wasn't the rolicking, funny delivery I expected. There were several times where he was very funny and then it just fell flat because he had to move on to the next country. I have spoken to several other people who went on another night and they found it very wanting and as I, would not recommend it to anyone. Just being honest.
We loved it, very clever. Nonstop laughs. Perfect length too.
Colin Quinn was entertaining...unfortunately he speaks so quickly sometimes...you can't figure out what he is saying or follow the joke.... Would have enjoyed it more if he slowed down a little.
Enjoyed the creativeness of this production. Colin Quinn did a great job of delivering the material. The downfall of the production was the use of obscenities. The most humorous parts to me are those used with "clean" lines. You know it's harder to laugh when you are also cringing at the language. He is very funny without it. I wish more productions would at least give it a try...
Very well written and produced! Loved it! Colin Quinn is excellent!
The show was very entertaining and quite insightful. Colin Quinn was superb!
Intelligent, sophisticated humor with insights and pokes at almost every culture. Lots of cursing but not mean spirited.
I like Colin Quinn, so I expected to enjoy this - wasn't so sure about my husband liking it, but Mr Quinn had us laughing from the opening line, belly-laughing through much of the show and smiling and nodding in between with his spot-on social commentary. I don't know anyone I couldn't recommend this to except for a few who are extremely sensitive to "adult language".
I really enjoyed the play. I thought he spoke a little to fast and at times I could not hear him. I wish I could see an instant replay. He was great though and the concept I thought was fabulous.
Very intelligent comedy, absolutely outstanding show.
Hilarious! Loved it. What a talent he is. Wish I could see more of him.
Hi. My husband and I attended Colin's performance (yes, we feel that we are on a first-name basis with him!). It was witty, insightful, and honest. I would recommend his show to my friends. Thanks.
Hilarious! Really smart comedy. He is definitely a thinking comic.
Colin Quinn is masterful in this fast-paced romp through the history of the world. His comedic treatment of the places, events and people that shaped our world was "spot on!" It would be worth seeing two or more times just to pick up on many of the lines that escape during an initial exposure. See it! See it! See it!
Excellent. insightful funny. good story in that it was a full circle
.I laughed out loud. Not all the time but I thoroughly enjoyed Colin's perspective of the history of man. His portrayal of the English and the French was wild.
