Chuck Berry is worth the trip and money

by inka65 on 10/20/14Duck Room at Blueberry Hill - St Louis

Being in his late 80s you will think he cant play anymore but I can guarantee than this man can rock harder than the new rock bands.

Time to hang it up Chuck

by Anonymous on 7/26/14Duck Room at Blueberry Hill - St Louis

It was a neat experience to see a Rock and Roll legend up close, but Chuck Berry is clearly past the point where he should be performing on stage. He could not keep up with the rest of the band. He often played the wrong tempo and chords and forgot words to the songs. Every once in a while he got a good guitar riff going, but could not sustain it for an entire song. Go for the experience of seeing Chuck Berry, not for the music.

    In Poor Taste

by SensitiveSally on 6/24/14Duck Room at Blueberry Hill - St Louis

If this wasn't Chuck Berry's last performance, it should have been. There are times that its nice and pleasant to be in "the moment" with a senior adult and there are times where it just uncomfortable to watch and isn't nice to put things on display. Chuck Berry has had a wonderful career and been an amazing artist, it's just not right to put him on display in such an insensitive way. My goodness, let the man retire with good memories.

    a sad sad evening

by syrinxroxx on 6/22/14Duck Room at Blueberry Hill - St Louis

First let me say all respect to Mr Berry, a true legend's legend. He is (was) a bucket list show. That said, this evening can only be described as a sad disappointment. Mr Berry should not be allowed to embarrass himself and tarnish his reputation in this way. His handlers/family must stop trotting him out there for their gain. Shame on them. The show was a mess. Mr Berry barely seemed to realize he was playing for an audience. At various times during the show he didn't know what song he was playing, what key they were in, forgot lyrics, stopped and started songs abruptly and seemed just completely lost. The band tried to follow him and cover for him but it was nothing less than a disaster. I don't know what to make of the rambling poem he attempted to recite before the show was suddenly and mercifully ended. I realize his age is advanced so his playing likely wouldn't be what it once was but this was abysmal and again, just sad. Sad to see this man unable to represent himself and his musical legacy.

Chuck Berry is a legend. He may be 87,and the fingers don't work as well as they used to, but it was a great show.

Never thought I'd say it, but I play a lot better than Chuck. And I'm strictly a sloppy amateur. I wasn't expecting much and he more than met my expectations. I went more to pay homage. If that's your intention, go and pay tribute. Otherwise don't bother.

    Chuck Berry

by Vending on 6/21/14Duck Room at Blueberry Hill - St Louis

He was very humble and darling but it was SO SAD to see how he has deteriorated! We feel he should retire with his dignity and let everyone remember him for His greatness NOT how he is now. When he couldn't remember the words To the songs it was devastating to us and we felt SO SORRY for him!!!
