    Cats Review

by Dianne on 8/3/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

The July 31st matinee performance of Cats was amazing! I especially liked the costumes, sets, and lighting. The vocal performances, especially the solos and duets, were fantastic, especially Memory. Great dancing too! Just a little hard to hear the words on the choruses from the balcony. Overall, I really enjoyed the performance!

    Best show seen yet!

by C Cat on 8/3/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

I was mesmerized! The movements - real cats? The dancing....this ole grandma was out of breath watching, I can't imagine how they dance like that and sing at the same time! I wanted to go back to Chicago(I live 100 miles west) the next day and see it again! I especially liked the big black tomcat. He was great! I will see this show again if I get the chance!

    "Smashing"

by Stets on 8/3/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

Typical "Cats" production which represented the universal joy and pleasure this the show has provided audiences over the decades. Magnificent dancing numbers and the voices were rich and unique. A full house at the matinee performance on a Wednesday afternoon is a testament to the endurance of this musical, and this touring company delivered, full stop.

Since seeing Cats in 1980s in Detroit it’s changed.

by Moderate Attendee on 8/3/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

I took my granddaughter to Cats, which I’d seen in 1980s. It wasn’t the Cats I’d remembered. The singing here was very good. But my first visit had much more makeup on the “cats” and they spent their time in true character, prowling and moving like a real cat. It had been mesmerizing. This production focused on good singing and dancing. Entertaining? Yes. Mesmerizing? No

First time seeing Cats. Really enjoyed the singing and dancing. The storyline (if there is one), was tough for me to follow. I certainly recommend going.

Although I have seen this show many times, I was blown away by the new additions added to the performance. It made me feel like I was seeing it in a different way. I did miss the Growl tiger scene. I would go to see it again!

    Absolutely amazing!

    by R. b. on 7/31/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

I first saw this performance when I was 5, it has been my all time favorite musical of all times. I was worried it wouldn’t live up to my memories. I am so happy to say it surpassed what I remembered and I left in utter amazement once again. Great cast, great Musial accompaniment over all a great day spent with my mom.

I Was a Little Kid Again

    by G. B. on 7/30/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

I have grown up watching my VHS copy of CATS since I Was 4 years old, practicing the dance moves and songs in my living room. The last time I saw it live on Broadway in Chicago was when I was 12. I have seen a few smaller productions whenever I got the chance and often revisited the film version when I bought it on DVD, so as much as I adore this show it's not very often an adaptation makes it brand new. This is exactly what this performance did. It made it new and fresh while also keeping everything that charmed me from the moment I first saw CATS. In fact, it even expanded on the things I loved! The songs I loved were longer, the actors were fully invested in their characters and I was clapping my hands and bouncing in my seat the entire show (when I wasn't feeling emotional during Grizabella's stunning performance of course!). I may have also gotten more excited than I thought I was when Tugger made his entrance. It renewed my love for all of the characters and I truly feel that I will never forget it. It is my favorite version of the show I have seen so far and I am sad to see if leave Chicago! We are seeing it again this weekend before it leaves and eagerly await the next time the show comes around. If you haven't seen CATS before, this is the perfect way to be introduced to it!

I went to see Cat's with 2 of my Aunts. We all had a great time laughing and singing. The only thing I did not like was how cold the Theater was .....other than that had a great time.

    Absolutely Amazing!!!

by Mademoisellekitty on 7/28/19James M. Nederlander Theatre - Chicago

As a little girl, I asked for tickets to see Cats, for birthdays and such. Time kept going by and then, 36yrs later, my twin sister told me Cats was coming to Chicago. I was ecstatic! The day tickets went on sale, I treated myself and my twin to two orchestra pit seats, one being an aisle seat.. what a wonderfully extra treat those seats ended up being, with Cats up and down the aisle next to me. So exciting! I cried a lot.. pure happiness and enjoyment. I loved this show.. so much! Bravo!
