About

Before The Beatles, The Beach Boys or The Rolling Stones ever played a note, Rock 'n' Roll was forever changed by Buddy Holly, a 19-year-old kid from Texas. BUDDY — The Buddy Holly Story tells the true story of Buddy's meteoric rise to fame, from the moment in 1957 when "That'll Be the Day" hit the airwaves until his tragic death less than two years later. The show features more than 20 hits including "That'll Be The Day," "Peggy Sue," and "Oh, Boy!" Buddy will have you on your feet and "send you out of the theater on an unstoppable high" (The Boston Globe)!

    So disappointing!

by SharieN on 7/1/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

What a forgettable show! The lead singer didn't sound like Buddy at all. The comedy was inane and very weak. The story line and dialogue were boring and silly and didn't do justice to Buddy Holly at all. We were so disappointed!

    The Buddy Hooly Story

by Atsypa on 7/1/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I took my Grandaughter, age 15, to the play. She did not know anything about Buddy and had not heard any of his music. She said it was great and we both enjoyed the music and clapped along with the rest of the audience. I especially enjoyed the music because I was in high school at the time Buddy Holly was popular.

    Buddy

by Facsiga on 7/1/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The ending of Buddy was tragic and listening to the story-line was informative - but the 'talking should be cut back by 50% and replace it with the amaizing music by Buddy - and played by the outstanding musuicinas and singers...this should have been a tru musuical - and noty half play and half music....too much superb music got wasted on poorly played acts...

    Buddy was great fun!

by Bonniejane on 7/1/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

We had seen Buddy several years ago, and enjoyed seeing it again. Started a little slow and low energy but quickly built momentum. The only thing that detracted was the less than full orchestra section of theater. It would be great if you could set up a program to donate open seats (4-6 hours before show time) to local charities to fill the seats and get the business write-off. Or distribute these tickets to local hotels/concierge who book guests with you, like cruises do. Beautiful theater, enjoyable fun evening and great music. Can't miss!

    Pleasantly Surprised!!

by JulieandJim on 7/1/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

I bought tickets to see Buddy Holly for our Anniversary (my husband wanted to see it), thinking that I would just muddle through watching it. I was pleasantly surprised at how entertaining and "toe tapping" it really was!! I was literally dancing in my seat and clapping along!! The story itself was interesting, the only thing I knew about Buddy Holly before coming to see the play was that he died in a plane crash.

    Buddy was mediocre

by GMarlowe on 7/1/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The production lacked spark and was slow during the first half. The second half was simply a concert. I have seen a much better production in the past that had people dancing in the aisle and clapping continuously. People walked out on this production before it was over. By the time it ended the place was half empty.

We truly enjoyed the Buddy Holly Store. The music was great and brought back fond memories. The musicians/Actors were very good. It started a little slow but quickly picked up in speed. I would definitely recommend this show to my friends and family.

    Buddy Holly review

by Hollyfanfive on 7/1/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

Ok - loved hearing the songs and the performers were very talented. Story was not as it should - it seemed to be made up to fit the play. Buddy was ok but you certainly didnt feel like he was Buddy - only the glasses let you know it was supposed to be Buddy. He did not sing or move much like him. He seemed more like Chuck Berry. Play was ok for a community play but for the price - not a good value. It did get me to leave and order a Buddy Hollys greatest hits album on ITunes which I will enjoy.

a wonferful night of song and enjoyment

by happycitygal on 6/30/13Cadillac Palace - Chicago

The actors were very talented with do many both singing and playing instruments. Their energy levels throughout the entire show was fantastic. The only negative for me was with such a small troupe, they played multiple parts. It was sometimes confusing what role they were playing. You figure it out, and I don't believe it took anything away from the overall production

Truly enjoyed this show. While the story line isn't anything exceptional, the music is. The actors played their own instruments and were fantastic performers. I forgot I went for a play because it turned into a rock concert.

Especially great for those of us who Actually remember the music of the 50s. The musicianship and showmanship on stage was fantastic.
