Before The Beatles, The Beach Boys or The Rolling Stones ever played a note, Rock 'n' Roll was forever changed by Buddy Holly, a 19-year-old kid from Texas. BUDDY — The Buddy Holly Story tells the true story of Buddy's meteoric rise to fame, from the moment in 1957 when "That'll Be the Day" hit the airwaves until his tragic death less than two years later. The show features more than 20 hits including "That'll Be The Day," "Peggy Sue," and "Oh, Boy!" Buddy will have you on your feet and "send you out of the theater on an unstoppable high" (The Boston Globe)!

For one who had such a short time to display his talent, it's amazing how his music is enjoyed by all age groups.
The Buddy Holly Story was one of the best Broadway shows I have ever seen, ranking up on top with shows like Jersey Boys and Grease as an all-time classic. I love how the play brought history to life in a lively, dramatic, and sometimes humorous telling of the life and times of one of the greatest rock n' roll legends in American history! It truly was a delight attending this show and I would recommend it to EVERYONE, from the casual theatre attendee to the music snobs, this show really ROCKS!!!
This was a great rendition of the Buddy Holly story. The whole cast was amazing.
I enjoyed the show immensely, it felt almost like seeing Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Richie Valens in concert, certainly the next best thing. Noellia Hernandez stood out as Maria Elena.
The performance was outstanding! It had us on the edge of our seats the entire show. The acting was amazing, the music even better! It made you feel like you were actually in the recording studio with Buddy Holly and the Crickets... This was by far the best performance I have seen in ages!
The cast was very talented and full of energy. The entire cast appeared to enjoy the performance as much as the audience. Would highly recommend, would love to see again !
Saw this opening night in Chicago's Cadillac Palace. The music takes you back to that era with all the memories flooding in like a time warp. I always appreciate these biographic musicals when the subjects are look-alike to their subject. The players are spot on in their portrayals. Buddy is approached without any dark side, just feel good music. The crowd that night was not real lively, hopefully the crowds will be better as the dates go forward, ushers actually stopped an older lady from dancing in the aisle. Near the end of the show when the ages were revealed of the subjects when they perished in the plane crash in Clear Lake Iowa, an audible gasp came form the audience. People forget that Buddy Holly was only 22 when he died. Look what an effect he had in so a short time in the business. A joyful performance, I would definitely go again before they leave Chicago. Next time, I will absolutely dress in 50's gear!! What fun!
What fun! We were there on opening night and it was such an enjoyable experience. The audience really got into it and it made for a delightful evening. When I was leaving, I was thinking I would love to come back and see it a second time.
