I took my 2 1/2 year old to see this performance - THRILLED to be able to share the amazing Edward Sharpe concert experience with her at a matinee show. I arrived at noon, when the show began - after driving 45 minutes from Orange County to LA. Absolutely worth it for Eddie Sharpe and the 0s. To my great chagrin after arriving a chalk sign indicated that the band would not go on until 2: 30 which was actually 3pm. Having been there since noon in the noon heat, in a tent my kid was a trooper, but as I and all the other parents of toddlers and infants there where thinking "Oh god - we could have come after the child's NAP?" There were nursing mothers in the audience for crying out loud. After 3 hours in the mid day sun or the hot tent my child was exhausted and cranky. Sure the tambourine making booth was fun - but I could driven up the street to the church fair for that. And yes she enjoyed some of the other acts, but she was a hot mess by the time the Zeros came on. Also I didn't pay $40/person and drive far out of town to see a puppet show I could have seen at the public library. I was almost in tears by the time they came on, and my child certainly was. I LOVE live music and I get the whole musicians can't be on a schedule opening bands/acts take forever kind of a thing. But had I left the house at 1:15, arrived at 2-2:15 I still would have had plenty of time to make a tambourine, catch a few opening acts and my daughter and I would have enjoyed Edward Sharpe's ENTIRE performance together instead of only seeing a few songs and then carrying a crying child out to the car. She was thrilled to be there and totally focused on the stage when we arrived - but she's 3 - that lasted less than an hour. She nor I got to enjoy the music we came there for.
