    BEST show ever

by JJuar on 10/21/13Los Angeles State Historic Park - Los Angeles

I have been going to shows and concerts and music festivals since I was like 14 (now 23) and this show was one of the best I have been to. Every detail was amazing, the big top with carnival acts, the beer garden, the food, the shopping. Everything was amazing! Most (sober) fun I have had, I would rather experience this sort of event on a weekly basis then go out and spend money at a bar. Aside from everything, the band was as fun as I imagined, the singer Alex did such a good job involving the audience. He even involved someone in the audience who provided some testimonial that made me tear up. You could feel the energy and good vibes, esp when people would join him in going around the audience and dancing/hugging them. The cherry on top was the revolving stage that allowed everyone there to enjoy every part of the show. Truly awesome and amazing. Loved it!!!

    A Unique and Unforgettable Exerpeince!

by Musepocalypse on 10/21/13Los Angeles State Historic Park - Los Angeles

Hands down, one of the best concerts I've ever been too. Not only was ES&TMZ amazing (I'll get to them later), but the Big Top had such cool and unusual entertainment, the experience as a whole was unlike anything I've ever seen. Before the show even started, we could stroll through a circus town, which had everything from a Ferris wheel and little shops to a beer garden / fun house. Entertainers walked around on stilts or strolled through the crowd in costumes, which definitely helped add to the circus vibe. There were also plenty of food stands, which had an outstanding variety of stuff to eat. Instead the big top, which with the space and seating allowed for an intimate experience, nearly a dozen different acts took the stage before ES. These acts ranged from a burlesques show and a comedic magician to a contortionist, a puppeteer, and a sword swallower, all interlaced between two other opening bands. The acts lasted over two hours, which was sort of long, but definitely helped set the mood for an unforgettable night. When Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes took the stage, the place when crazy. Dressed in costumes varying from cowboys and circus performers to Slash and hobos, the band played great, sounding even better live than they do on record. The set list was open to the crowd, who could call out the next song they wanted to hear. The stage rotated, allowing us to see everyone in the band perform. Alex even ran around the tent, dancing with fans and telling stories. At the end of the night, both the band and the crowd were reluctant to go, but we all had one hell of a night we’d never forget.

    Very Cool Venue

by RoccoDelucaFan on 10/21/13Los Angeles State Historic Park - Los Angeles

I purchased these tickets because Rocco Deluca was scheduled to play this one night of the four night engagement. I was disappointed that his set was a very very meager 20 minutes. There were a variety of acts that came onto the stage, in rapid succession, and made for an eclectic variety show in a one-of-a-kind venue. The rotating stage allowed every seat under the Big Top tent a terrific view of the action, and an intimate experience for one and all. As a neophyte to the musical stylings of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, I expected to suffer through the headline act. I could not have been more wrong. The band was situated around the perimeter of the circular stage, with Alex, the lead singer, in the middle, directing the action. By the end of the 90 minute set, I was a believer!

    Best Show Ever!

by SammItotallyam on 10/21/13Los Angeles State Historic Park - Los Angeles

Edward Sharpe Big Top was one of the best events I have ever been to. It was easily one of the best night of my life! Every performance (especially Edward Sharpe's) was lively and captivating. The night was unforgettable and so much fun! I hope they repeat this event (preferably making it a daily thing! :P) I would quickly buy my tickets as soon as they came out!

    Amazing!

by schecter43 on 10/21/13Los Angeles State Historic Park - Los Angeles

Show was simply amazing...ES&MZ interacted a lot with the audience which made the show very fun and memorable. Jade looked a bit upset at Alexander at first, but seemed to have warmed up towards the end. Band sounds amazing live.

Absolutely...the best concert I've been to in a long time....and it's the only concert I've been to of its kind because of the circus part of it. We loved it!!

    It is what it is

by Fan512 on 10/21/13Los Angeles State Historic Park - Los Angeles

It was just okay. We had to stand even though our tickets had seat numbers. Had I known it was first come first serve, I would've showed up earlier to make sure I had a place to sit. Way overpriced for what it was. Oh well. It was an experience. I liked the music but probably wouldn't go back at 60$ per person.

Edward Sharpe was quite an experience

by Anonymous on 10/21/13Los Angeles State Historic Park - Los Angeles

This show was definitely worth the money. Not only did Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros create a fun, inviting atmosphere and play wonderful music, but there was also a whole carnival set up! The acts were funny, interesting, and extremely entertaining. The only thing I would have changed is the time they went on. Doors opened at eight but they went on at 11. I would have liked to see them perform for a little longer.

Edward Sharpe Big Top, an experience to remember

by USCgirl2 on 10/20/13Los Angeles State Historic Park - Los Angeles

All-around wonderful, original event idea. I was blown away by the circus acts in this event-- the acrobats, the puppet show, everything. The vendors and entertainment outside made this event very well-done, every aspect of the event tied in very nicely and contributed to a great experience. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros' performance was incredible as always, but something about the stage set up and the venue made the show very intimate. People in the audience were making the point that they felt as though they were a part of the band during the performance. I just loved the way the different members in the band were able to do their own performances, it added a lot of variety and flavor. The acrobats were jaw-dropping incredible. The acts that were shown were truly unique and showed a diverse array of talent, something you definitely wouldn't be exposed to had it not been for this event. I also was happy that the venue was small and not overcrowded, it made you feel like you were a part of something special.
