This show with Rob Sonic and DJ Zone was well worth it. They covered Impossible Kid, some Mallon songs, and a couple Rob Sonic songs. They put on an amazing show and I highly recommend going to see them if you have the opportunity.
Aesop goes so hard. He had not been to St. Louis in awhile so he made it up to the city. He stayed after the show and hung out too! Great Guy.
I can't recommend this artist enough. He's one of the most articulate and eloquent writers I've ever listened to, and his performances are completely true to the bar set by his studio recordings. He spent time after the show to meet and talk with the fans and was so gracious to listen to me aggressively thank him for his dedication to his craft. I've admired his work for years, I've seen him twice now, and I will pay to see him and bring friends every chance I can.
I go to a lot of shows ... a lot of hip hop shows... and they never leave you dissapointed ... I plan to hit up every show they do in Ohio ..âĄ
It was a great show. The venue (20th Century Theater) was super cute and quirky. I was probably the youngest person there, but it didn't matter much. The artists made sure that it was a high energy show with crowd participation.
Aesop Rock is of course a great musician and performer, but what really made this concert was the venue. The stage was equipped with all the necessary bells and whistles, and the venue is cozy enough to feel like you're in a VIP area, while still allowing breathing room. I was really happy to find that I was allowed into the venue to see my favorite rapper perform, because some places don't allow persons under 21. Again, extremely pleased with this performance and venue.
I have listened to plenty of hip hop, but I have never been to a hip hop concert before. This was an excellent first experience. I loved Homeboy Sandman and Aesop Rock was incredible. The performance was amazing, I loved everything about it.
First off the venue I saw them at is one of my favorites so I was pumped they were playing at the State Theatre. Secondly they are lyrical geniuses and I have been a fan of Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic as solo artists and as Hail Mary Mallon. Then add Homeboy Sandman as an opener and it became one of the greatest shows I've seen in quite a while. Aesop played the entire Impossible kid album set in addition to his older stuff like Daylight and Labor Days alongside Rob. Then the two did some Hail Mary Mallon stuff, and the encore was the entire Lice EP with Homeboy Sandman. Also shouts out to the impressive DJ, DJ Zone who they let play a pretty awesome short live set of him remixing some of Aesop's tunes. All-in-all a great concert going experience and the best 3 1/2 hours of entertainment $20 can buy you.
Drove two hours. It was worth it. My review text is too short.
