WOW just WOW!!!! Will definitely be attending another Aesop Rock show! Venue was perfect and people were amazing (artist, fans and venue staff)!!!! Still so stocked that I got to attend this event!!! Definitely recommend if anyone that loves true "hip-hop" if have the chance to attend one night under the performance of "Aesop Rock" to do so, you won't regret!
Dopest wordsmith around. Sold out show. Then he signed autographs.
This is my 2nd time seeing Aesop and it was again incredible. The first time was a year and a half ago, skelethon had been out for like, 3 and a half years and Hail Mary Mallon bestiary had recently come out. Aes performed a lot from Hail Mary Mallon bestiary with rob sonic as well as a medley of his awesome catalogue. Amazing performance, rapped every word the whole show. Now when I say him June 2016, The Impossible Kid had just come out like a month and a half ago. Rob sonic was there again to play some cool Hail Mary Mallon songs, but the majority of the show was new songs from The Impossible Kid. Now most artists would not do that, but Aes has that type of fans that he can play mostly all new shit, and we all love it. I will go see Aesop as many times as he comes to Portland Maine.
Like always! Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic were on point. DJ Zone did a great job but I preffer to see Aesop with DJ Big Wiz or even better DJ Abilities! The feeling in the place was great especially when the whole place sung the hook for "Daylight" per Aesop's request. PS: The VIP was nice with the early entrance, balcony area and poster
When Aes came up on stage, I involuntarily yelled profanities in excitement. Even at 40 years old he keeps his style and doesn't miss a beat. I forgot about everything else for three hours.
Regardless of your musical taste or preference, you can't help but appreciate the musical stylings of this rhyme sayer. I have been disappointed by many live shows, especially "rappers" who only sound good with an auto tuner and 20 takes. Aesop and even homeboy sandman and rob sonic are legit. Worth the 30 bucks every time.
The only thing that made the concert unpleasant was how crowded it was I think he's ready to move it to Newport that would probably be a little better.
I have been a fan for the past 15 years or so since Aesop came on the scene. I have been battling cervical cancer and I put it on my bucket list to see him at a live show. This wish came true this past weekend. I beat the shit out of cancer and was deemed cancer-free three weeks ago. I am so grateful I was able to see Aesop live. It truly was a dream come true. He was so close I could throw a paper airplane and hit him. Rob Sonic killed it, too. I only wish I had the opportunity to meet them or at least take a picture. I'm not sure if these reviews are even read by anyone, but if so, I'd like to let Hail Mary Mallon know that they made my dream come true and they demolish other acts out there. What they do - I call it beautiful rap. Long live underground music and live shows!
Absolutely loved seeing Aesop & Rob Sonic ! This was a birthday present for my boyfriend & he nearly had a heart attack when he saw them. Plus being able to meet them after the show was so awesome ! it's nice knowing they take the time out to meet & greet their fans. Such good people. Plus Revolution Live is an awesome venue ! Definitely will be coming back !
This show was like all holidays rolled into one...
Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic, and DJ Abilities know how to put on a performance. Watching them spit lyrics was amazing and seeing them after the show made my night.
Staff at Sinclair was extremely helpful; we requested seating due to several back issues. Aesop was at the top of his game although I didn't care for his DJ's mini concert.
First time I have been to the A and R Music Bar, I must say that the venue was pretty cool. It was much larger than I expected it to be and the sound system was nice and clear without sounding distorted. I took a couple videos of the show and the videos came out really clear. As for the show itself, Homeboy Sandman and Hail Mary Mallon w/ DJ Abilities really impressed me, both sets were very energetic and the artists ran through a good amount of material.
This was a great show in a very intimate venue. If it were a more urban act performing and less of s hip-hop act, i would have been worried about people getting weapons in since after the pat down, you could easily go out the backdoor and have a buddy toss you up your weapon of choice. The sound was very good, you could clearly hear the rappers voices. It was a great show, plenty of parking, no line, they opened the doors early... OH! And they had delicious pizza creations. I have a 'pizza dawg' and it was wonderful! They also had cheap deals on Miller High Life... If you're runnin' deals on the champagne of beers, you're ok by me.
The artists were amazing. I wasn't too familiar with Homeboy Sandman, but I liked his stuff. He was confident and strong even though, like me, a lot of people weren't familiar with his stuff. Totally dug him. Aes and Sonic put on a killer set. They did solo stuff that was well interwoven with their Hail Mary Mallon stuff. Just a brilliant set. Aes said he was sick, but to watch him, you would have never known. He, in my opinion, is the crowned prince of hip hop, and he wore it even in sickness. He and Rob were both rough and unkempt in appearance, but polished as hell on the MIC. They killed it. DJ Abilities was backing them up, and Abilities was excellent. He could have just sat back and let those two go, but he took control of the stage when he was given the chance. Killer mixes, and his scratch work made it obvious as to why he's called Abilities. Dude was sick at every given chance. Unfortunately, the venue has a series of poorly placed support columns, and it made viewing from various places very hard. The venue is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars. But the pizza was good.
pleasantly surprised with the whole show, i went in not expecting to much seeing as id never heard of busdriver, but he blew my mind and everyone poured there hearts out on stage and Aesop actually stayed after the show for pics and signings! my only regret was that i didn't bring my 2012 record store day picture disk with only 2000 ever made, if i knew he would have been signing, that would have been awesome, next time i definitly will though! great show, would recommend to anyone thinking about it
Aesop Rock, Rob Sonic & Busdriver put on a amazing show. The paradise is a great venue. Got my haircut on stage during racing stripes! So unbelievable I have No Regrets
Plain and simple, the show was great! Definitely one of the best shows I've been to! The setlist was good, a lot of Skelethon, which was expected. He also played a decent amount of older songs.
The opener Busdriver was incredible at getting the crowd going. DJ Big Wiz nailed it like a boss, Rob Somic was dope as well. Aesop played a bunch of tracks off Skelethon but also a bunch of older tracks like none shall pass, holy smokes, no regrets and Big Bang. The chemistry between the Hail Mary Mellon crew was insane. I would totally go see these guys again.
