About

One of the main originators of the modern prog-metal movement, Birmingham, Alabama's ERRA burst onto the scene in the early 2010s. The five-piece took influence from acts like Misery Signals, As I Lay Dying, Born of Osiris, and Saosin, ERRA have released numerous albums and toured with like-minded bands such as As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Tesseract, Ice Nine Kills, Glass Cloud, Within the Ruins, and Texas in July.

ERRA was formed in 2009 by high-school friends Alex Ballew, Jesse Cash, Adam Hicks, Garrison Lee, and Alan Rigdon. Coming out of the MySpace music era, ERRA wrote and self-released two EPS: 2009's self-titled and 2010's Andromeda. Tragic Hero Records, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, took notice of what ERRA was up to and signed them in 2011. The same year, ERRA released their debut studio album: Impulse.

The following year, Hicks left the band and was replaced by guitarist Sean Price. ERRA also began recording their sophomore studio album, Augment, which came out in October 2013. In 2014, Lee and Rigdon also left the band, and bassist Price moved to rhythm guitar, while vocalist Ian Eubanks replaced Lee.

In 2014, ERRA signed with Sumerian Records and released a new EP, Moments of Clarity, which reached No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart. In 2015, ERRA opened for August Burns Red (on their Frozen Flame tour) and Tesseract (on their Polaris tour). Eubanks also left ERRA in 2015 and was replaced by former Texas in July member J.T. Cavey.

In 2016, ERRA released their third album, Drift, which also hit No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. ERRA also toured that year on Sumerian's 10-year anniversary tour with Born of Osiris, Veil of Maya, After the Burial, and Bad Omens.

Two years later, ERRA released their fourth album, Neon, which, like its predecessor, hit No. 1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart. That fall, they went on tour with After the Burial and The Acacia Strain. The following summer, ERRA hit the road with Northlane, Crystal Lake and Currents and released a cover of Queens of the Stone Age's "You Think I Ain't Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire."

By 2020, ERRA opted to part ways with Sumerian Records and signed with Australian heavy-metal label UNFD. From there, they released a string of singles and announced a new, self-titled album, which dropped in March 2021. Six months later, they released an instrumental version.

In early 2022, ERRA released a deluxe version of their eponymous  effort along with the single "Nigh to Silence." Price also announced his departure from the band. When not touring with ERRA, Jesse Cash performs with his side project, Ghost Atlas.

    Absolutely killed it 🙌 👏

by Daryn G on 5/29/24House of Blues Chicago - Chicago

I've only seen the headliner for this tour and Void of Vision so I wasn't really ready to know what to expect from MTS and Novelists. But Novelist were an electric opener with some great breakdowns and vocals. Void of Vision also didn't disappoint at all, really great crowd energy to get hyped for MTS. MTS went absolutely nuts and got the crowd fired up for what was to come. I crowd surfed and got a guitar pic from Nick. Then Erra came on and they blew the roof off the place. Sold out show absolutely didn't disappoint. Never went so hard at a show in my life , got heat stroke when I got home so that was not so much fun. Now it's ready to see The Amity Affliction tonight!🤘🤘

    Great Venue and Great Show

    by DJ73 on 5/28/24Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

This was our 2nd time seeing Erra this year and they did not disappoint again. All the acts were awesome, Novelists, Void of Vision, & Make Them Suffer all out performed my expectations, especially Make Them Suffer, they, along with Erra were incredible! The venue (Varsity Theater) was a great place for the show, their setting is wonderful. Would highly recommend all of these bands for a live show if you have the opportunity as well as The Varsity Theater. I can’t wait to see any of all of these bands again.

    Excellent concert overall

by Djenting on 5/27/24Varsity Theater - Minneapolis

Erra was fantastic. Novelists was poor but this mostly seemed to be due to the vocalist change. Void of vision did a solid job and make them suffer was great. The audio engineers for the novelists and void of vision were terrible. The bass was turned up so high you couldn’t even tell what song they were playing most of the time. It improved when make them suffer came on and improved further when ERRA was on.

    Better Every Time

by always excellent on 5/19/24Ace of Spades - Sacramento

Every time I see Erra they somehow put on a better show than the previous one. excellent performance and the supporting acts (make them suffer, novelists) absolutely killed it as well. A dream lineup for a show, who cares that it was on a Wednesday night that place was packed.

    Great show

by TrashMan Jones on 5/14/24The Observatory - Santa Ana

Great show, good performances by all bands on the bill. Second to last band audio kinda sucked, but it was because the guitarist stepped on the XLR snake and messed it all up.

    Awesome night

by GLH on 5/14/24The Observatory - Santa Ana

ERRA is a first class rock band and showed off their talents in a small venue which was great. They were supported by 3 top notch warm up bands which made the night a great Metal night.

The most melodic and heavy concert ever

by Ali on 5/14/24The Observatory - Santa Ana

This is a band that knows what they’re doing. They’ve honed in on their sound and mastered it. The lead guitarist who also sings (I think his name is Jesse) is one of the best musicians I’ve ever seen

    Great show, poor sound

by Manda on 5/14/24The Observatory - Santa Ana

The sound guy didn't get the sound fixed until 3 bands in, but at least it was fixed by the time the headliner went on.
