Zomboy in Concert
British bassmaster Zomboy named his 2017 release Rott N' Roll — and for very good reason. The EP hits you with four blasts of disorienting dubstep steeped in an aggressive energy more at home in the mosh pit than the dance tent, while exuding a sense of dramatic grandeur tailor-made for arenas.
With his Rott N' Roll tour of large concert halls, Zomboy has engineered nothing less than an all-out sensory assault, complete with a retina-frying light show, psychedelic big-screen visuals, and skeleton-themed animations that morph and mutate faster than your brain can process them. But arguably the most transfixing sight is Zomboy himself, who can be seen enthusiastically jumping, fist-pumping, and shouting along to his tracks from behind the decks as if he were seriously contemplating a stage-dive into the crowd below.
Zomboy Background
Born in the small English town of Penzance, Joshua Mellody cut his teeth playing in rock, punk, and metal bands before moving to London to study sound engineering in the early 2010s. While living there, his flatmates initiated him into the world of EDM, and Mellody developed a particular affinity for the harsh, tougher-than-metal dubstep of Skrillex.
Adopting the name Zomboy while playing the Xbox zombie game Left 4 Dead, Mellody released his first EP, Game Time, through London label Never Say Die Records in 2011. He swiftly became one of the buzziest names in U.K. bass music.
Within a year, he was making his U.S. debut at Las Vegas' Electric Daisy Carnival. Meanwhile, tracks like the dancehall-damaged "Nuclear (Hands Up)" and the earthquaking get-your-hands-up directive "Like a Bitch" vaulted him to the upper reaches of the Billboard Dance charts and festival lineups. His induction into EDM's elite inner circle was confirmed in 2016, when the ubiquitous Chainsmokers commissioned Zomboy to deliver the absolutely bonkers official remix of their chilled smash single "Don't Let Me Down."

I loved this whole tour is was amazing everyone did an amazing job throwing down on each set. However I want to say this about the Aragon or the production set the volume was way too low for badklaat and space laces. I’m sorry it was horrible I could hear everyone conversation even over the music. I honestly didn’t come to this event to hear everyone conversation i came here to get my face melted from the bass. I feel like it’s unfair to the openers that there music is low but once the headliners go on you guys crank up the volume it should be loud for every artist. But over all amazing show and amazing artist Chicago needs more heat like this.
First race was totally awesome went with another couple that also had never been to a rave!!!
Probably one of the best shows I’ve been to! The energy of the crowd and all of the artists was amazing. Hope they all come back!
I had an amazing time. My favorite sets of the night were def space laces, gammer, and BTSM. Zomboy never disappoints!!!
It was one of the best shows I ever been too! I went with a few of my friends and we had such a blast we can’t wait to see zomboy again! You’ll won’t regret it at all!!!
I LOVE BTSM so much!! This show with had the perfect blend of music for us bass lovers and I have to say that this show was the best I’ve been to in a while!! I didn’t see how coat check “was improved” at all but what really matters is the music and *kisses hand like an Italian* it was perfect!
Only stood in line to get in for 5-10 minutes(including securitycheck). Bathroom lines were so short, bar lines were no longer than five minutes long. And overall was an epic show. Best indoor rave I’ve ever been to hands down, thank you to Zomboy for putting this all together, all the DJ’s, and the venue/USC staff for making it such an incredible experience!
I had the best time at this show. Was a great experience and would love to do it again. One of the best shows I have ever seen
Great people and great vibes. lets us in 5 minutes late but other then that no big complaints.
It was amazing, one of the best shows ever, the lineup was perfect!!! The stage was amazing, I wanna to thank to everyone that worked very hard to make this show, everything was organized very well. Thank you for a night that I’m never going to forget!
It was so gooooood and i loved the BOOM or fireworks, whatever it was. Didn't scare me but did surprise me. Went hard throughout the whole show that my knees are super bruised and i got to go in a moshpit and be a ball in a pit. LOVED ET!
Zomboy and all of his openers were amazing. This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to ever! Besides the actual show the security at the Aragon ballroom was great too. They were very kind and even gave water to the people in the crowd. They enforced the rules without being rude which can be hard to find. Overall I had a great experience.
Some shows go too dark, some shows go too light. This was a very well-balanced lineup with the performance. I made it all the way to the end! LIT!
The sound was horrible. Could barely hear the first to artist.
All the artist were great but getting real tired of the aragon for having the beginning artist be so quiet, i hate it. The first guy ive been wait for over a year to see and my car wouldve been louder.
Super dope set, Zomboy never disappoints!! Plus a super dope crowd
Everything else was fantastic! Except for the sound throughout half of the show. Badklaat's set was way too quiet that it almost ruined it for me and many others that came specifically to see him. Space Laces's set was also very quiet.
Trampa and zomboy were on fire! Wall of death couldn’t really happen due toe rails dividing us but still a heavy set which has my friend wanting to go again and again!
Every set hit hard and heavy. Not repetitive like most other bass heads. Trampa b2b w/Skism left everyone in the audience practically scraping themselves off of the floor to find the courage to give Zomboy exactly what he deserved. Even after we had been completely obliterated from bangers, my favorite was still Zomboy. He just gives us (the audience) exactly what we came for every time I see him. I just wish that everyone had the same passion about the “wall of death” like he does. Because when executed correctly, it makes for some memorable moments. 10/10. Best set I’ve seen this year and that’s over Excision, Zeds Dead, and Herobust
