About

ZHU launched as an anonymous electronic music project for Bay Area producer Steven Zhu, but has risen steadily over a decade to reach global headlining notoriety. ZHU’s musical venture began in 2014 with the release of his debut EP The Nightday, led by the deep house single “Faded,” which charted on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording in 2015. The producer expanded his scope on 2015’s Genesis Series EP, featuring crossover collaborations with AlunaGeorge, Skrillex and Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, before releasing his 2016 debut solo album, Generationwhy, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. ZHU’s 2018 follow-up Ringos Desert boasted collaborations with Tame Impala and Majid Jordan, and he released joint singles with Sofi Tukker, DJ Snake, Tinashe, and Jeremih. ZHU’s third album, Dreamland 2021, marked his sixth Top 20 release on the Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. In 2023, ZHU unleashed singles like “Revelations” and “Changes,” and his fourth album, Grace, is set to arrive in 2024.

    Above Expectations!!!

by Rae on 10/20/23Revolution Concert House & Event Center - Garden City

I started listening to Zhu about 10 years ago but had never seen him. The production was phenomenal. From the performance and live instruments to the lasers and LED screens.., it was a blast!

    WOW

by JB on 10/20/23Revolution Concert House & Event Center - Garden City

Top 5 performances of all time. He crushed it. Lots of new tracks plus the oldies that made me fall in love with Zhu in the first place. Can we do it all over again? Bring him back, please.

    Ada access

by One legged Sam on 10/17/23Armory - Minneapolis

This show was amazing. The staff was very kind and welcoming. The dude in the elevator is an absolute riot. He’s been manning that position for two of the shows I’ve seen there recently. My names Sam, I’m a one legged Air Force vet. I lost my leg above the knee last year. I was really intimidated about getting back out there. Pros of the Ada access at the armory: they provided a place for me and one friend to sit. Cons: -I could only have one friend with me and I went with three. So I couldn’t be with my other two friends. Which was really a huge bummer and we wish we had known before. -it wasn’t clear where Ada was suppose to go. The staff didn’t know either until I was deep into security and then had to turn around. -there wasn’t an early access for Ada. I recently got a prosthetic but I can’t stand on it long so waiting in line is sadly not an option. All in all the staff was super kind. If I go to the main floor I have to hold on to the rail or I’ll be in paint security is good about keeping an eye on me and my prosthetic and most fellow concert goers have been understanding. Ways yo make the experience better would be clear directions to where Ada should enter, early entrance or an Ada entrance, an actual designated Ada spot where we can still be close to the stage (the spot given to me was on the very very far back) and allow more guest if the area permits. Or allow us to buy tickets in that area so we know before hand. Thank you for all you do! Can’t wait to be back.

    bad venue

by hannah on 10/10/23South Side Ballroom - Dallas

i thought it was a very interesting performance which i enjoyed. however, the venue was not it. artists like zhu and within the electronic music area dont do well at south side. it always gets way too crowded and hot because its too big of a flat venue. south side is just not very enjoyable. i would of had a better time at stereo live.

    Zhu was great

by Alf on 10/10/23South Side Ballroom - Dallas

Zhu was excellent, as was Nouizu. Rail Seating is great. People should learn concert etiquette. Leaving your trash on the bar rail is not cool. Throwing your junk on the floor is not cool. People wear nice shoes to these places; there is no need to be trashy.

    Great Show, but also, PSA

by Bando on 10/10/23South Side Ballroom - Dallas

Zhu crushed that set! Loved every minute. Attendees, however, need a reminder on show etiquette. Pushing and shoving to get to the front is unnecessary, you can politely ask people to inch up just don’t ruin their vibe.

    Too Many Changes

by Nicole on 10/10/23South Side Ballroom - Dallas

This event was originally scheduled at 8pm at the Toyota Music Pavilion. Right after ticket purchase/ pre-sale it was changed to The Southside Ballroom. Then the week of the event the time changed from 8pm to 10pm. When you're older and don't want to be up or out so late this is very annoying. I was also hoping for seating like Toyota Music Pavilion either on the lawn or in the stadium seats since I am pregnant. So this really irked me with all the changes.

Noizu the opener was better than the headliner

by Bruce on 10/10/23South Side Ballroom - Dallas

The concert was shortened, the opener (Noizu) was way better than Zhu. I actually left halfway through Zhu’s performance he couldn’t hold a candle to Noizu…lol

    Not what I expected

by GLass on 10/9/23Bayou Music Center - Houston

I don’t usually review things, but this show I felt to need. I’m not a hardcore Zhu fan, but it I’ve been him a couple times and enjoy his music. I showed up expecting a DJ set, but I was pleasantly surprised. I mix of live mixing, live vocals, and band tied together with thoughtful visuals that had my jaw down. It definitely was a good switch up from the constant rave I’m used to! 8.5/10

    Incredible show, so so venue

by Dylan on 10/9/23Bayou Music Center - Houston

Really enjoyed the show and the production but the venue was severely lacking and solely focused on extracting every bit of spare cash you have.

    The best night

by Rucky on 10/3/23The Anthem - Washington

This show exceeded my expectations. He played longer than I expected and truly covered every song a die hard Zhu fan could hope for. His band, messaging, lighting and singing were everything and more. Noizu killed it as his opener too <3 wish I could see this show again.

    Something else

by DS on 10/2/23Citizens House of Blues Boston - Boston

If you want to listen to something in between of Elderbrook and The Weekend, that’s your cup of tea. Didn’t enjoy it much, unfortunately.
