Very cool show. Really brought you back to the old Nintendo days. Music was amazing and I would absolutely go back.
I'm a collector of video game music, so I have every Zelda soundtrack in my iTunes library. Very little of it is orchestrated, since Skyward Sword is the first Zelda game to have an orchestrated soundtrack, so when I saw this concert was announced, I couldn't believe it. I wish so many times I could go back to that night, simply because the child-like magic that filled the amphitheater was so palpable. The lights dimmed and as the first piece played in sync with videos from Zelda's history on the screen, I didn't even realize how big my smile was. This continued for 2 hours straight. Favorite piece from the show: A Link to the Past Symphonic Movement. Not the biggest fan of that game since I prefer the newer graphics/play styles, but damn was that 13 minute piece epic! The composers and producers being such big fans also helped the mood a lot as well. Flawless performance, flawless presentation - and be sure to stay for the 3 encores. 2 of the best hours of my life. :)
I had nothing bad to say about this performance. I left feeling great and thoroughly entertained!
This concert was amazing. The Pittsburgh Symphony was phenomenal and the arrangement was everything I expected to be played and more! There were definitely times when during the event that made me tear up. I can't say enough good things about it!
I really enjoyed the symphony. The staff at The Mann Center were great as well.
I wanted to attend this ever since the tour was announced. I dont have a car. So, I had to catch 2 buses, the Market Frankford line, and another bus to get there! It was worth every penny! The music was really nice! Pittsburg Symphony was decent and they played with feeling thru the entire show. As a musician and Zelda fan, I had a GREAT time! Only issues are that fans cheered loudly during some pieces and the zelda main theme medley wasnt played
I would like to start off by saying Symphony Of the Goddesses was an amazingly well put together show that was performed by an extremely talented group of people. The concept and overall flow of the show was perfect for any fan of the series. It was engaging and exciting as well as hauntingly beautiful. Now with all of that said, I was very dissapointed seeing this show at the Mann Center. I along with 3 others had lawn seats. By the time we got there the entire lawn was filled with blankets and chairs so there was no room left to sit. We stood on the pavement behind the lawn and even just from there the sound was so low we couldn't even hear over others speaking. Then after the intermission ( after standing for 45 min) we decided to atleast sit down at tables toward the back. If we couldn't hear very well before, it was now even worse. We couldn't even hear over the sounds of the generators from the food stands. That on top of missing the first 35 minutes of the show because of traffic getting in was extremely disappointing. I would not reccommend the venue or seating but I highly reccommend seeing this show. There were points I squealed with joy and excitement. Overall great show, bad seating and venue.
A lot of fun for all kinds of people, young and old, costumed and dressed from work. The videos were a lot of fun (I wished I had brought a controller, to further simulate my childhood).
I took my six year old and we both had a blast. Much different than the usual symphony crowd.
This was a great performance for both lovers of music and the Zelda franchise. While it did include songs that anyone would love, it was even better for those that played the games themselves. The movements didn't miss much of anything. Everything from the rocking Temple theme to the catchy tune of Saria's Song to the slower, more heartfelt Song of Healing to epic, grand tunes such as Ballad of the Goddess, the main theme, and Gerudo Valley made it an incredibly diverse concert.
I've been a long-time Zelda fan and had been looking forward to this concert since last year. The venue was absolutely stunning and the crowd was filled with fellow Zelda fans. The music was stunning and I was tearing up from start to finish. We kept the performers for 3 whole encores that really ended the concert on a special kind of note (no spoilers). The one thing I can say about this concert is that it was utterly unforgettable.
Great show. We have two teenage boys who have played all the Zelda Games and they loved this concert. It was fun for my husband and myself as well. Loved seeing folks dressed in the Zelda and Link costumes. Music was superb and the videos were beautiful!
This performance was completely and utterly beautiful. the performance of the century!
This show was unbelievable. I cannot wait until it comes around again!! I purchased lawn seats for this symphony event and I could not have been happier. The music was so beautiful.. the sound system at The Mann allows you to hear every individual instrument. The video that accompanied the music was wonderful as well.. Overall, a wonderful experience.
I do not get to play any Zelda type games but I do know some of the game characters and history. However my young Zelda game player knows it backwards and forwards. This show was made for fans of the game. The combination of the wonderful score, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the video screen showing images and film of the game and the absolute joy and excitement of the crowd really made this a terrific experience. The seats were a little far away but we could see all the was happening. My Zelda fan could not stop saying how much fun the experience was. Staff were very friendly. The show was very crowded-I had no idea there were so many fans. Cons: Getting to venue was a slow trek about a mile away. Not much direction of food or sale lines by staff. No announcement of intermission end. Food Expensive. Tickets Parking Food and Swag. Yikes Big $$$$
This is quite simply, a phenomenal performance. There was a lot of musical fan-service to fans of all ages, representing the games from the franchise's 25 years. Even non-fans will appreciate the video of the gameplay that was played with the orchestra. The orchestra played wonderfully and professionally, and they really cared about the music that they were playing. I highly recommend this performance to fans of the games or to anyone that enjoys good symphonic music.
Great show, beautiful night, decent seats. Wish it were a little louder (and that people were a little quieter), but not enough of an issue to take away from the performance.
A fun event. Not as good as Final Fantasy Distant Worlds, but then the music of Zelda tends to not be as memorable as the music of Final Fantasy (with notable exceptions).
The event was amazing. Felt like a little kid again. So many great clips and the music was fantastic
Had a really great time, performances were wonderful, the accompanying videos a blast to watch! Beautiful venue!
