About

Zebra on Tour

Zebra galloped out of New Orleans in early 1975. The trio, consisting of Randy Jackson, Felix Hanemann and Guy Gelso, concocted their moniker from a 1926 Vogue magazine cover and soon won over the South and East Coast. In 1982 Zebra's self-titled debut album went gold and was the fastest selling debut album in Atlantic Records' history thanks to the radio and MTV airplay of "Tell Me What You Want" and "Who's Behind the Door?". Veteran producer Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick) also helmed the follow-up, "No Tellin' Lies". The songs range from the hard-rocking "Wait Until the Summer's Gone" to the Beatle-esque ballad, "Lullaby". With the release of their third Atlantic album "3.V", Zebra took their career one step farther: the album's credits read "Produced by Randy Jackson and Zebra". Thus, for the very first time, the group gained complete control of its creative output. A collection of the finest songs they have ever written, "3.V" clearly shows Zebra's lasting power and originality. In all, Zebra fans enjoyed a total of five videos aired on MTV and have given the band combined album sales of nearly 2 million worldwide. Zebra emerged from the studio again in 2003 with "ZEBRA IV", on Mayhem Records. This could possibly be the best effort by Zebra to date with powerful cuts which include "Arabian Nights", "Why" and "Waiting To Die". Zebra's live performances often last over two hours and showcase their new material along with all the classic Zebra tunes: "Who's Behind the Door?", "Tell Me What You Want", "Wait Until the Summer's Gone", "Bears", "One More Chance" and other all-time favorites including an occasional Led Zeppelin cover. "ZEBRA THE DVD", released in 2008 captures the band's energy and power on stage. The DVD features live concert footage from both Long Island and the House of Blues in New Orleans in addition to several interviews and bonus features. In 2010 Zebra was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and is acknowledged as Louisiana's #1 Rock and Roll band by the Louisiana Music Commission. On October 18, 2012 Zebra was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. Celebrating their 40 Anniversary in 2015 Zebra continues to WOW audiences across the country with their Hard-Rocking Live shows performing in select markets nationwide.-Making a Triumphant Return to NYC in November 2019.

Venue was Filmore in New Orleans 11/22/24. I have been with their career since 1976 being from New Orleans. This is a case of the best days are behind us. Yes, they were fabulous previously. My previous shows were in 2022 and they were good. Last night felt like a garage band practice. Vocals are at the forefront of the songs and the years of high falsettos are behind us. I am sad in sharing this but I spent a lot of money for last evening traveling hundreds of miles for this to see a repeat of the Mike Tyson match - not a fight. Rush had it right; stop while on top. Rush’s 2015 final tour went out with a bang. Not so here. We the fans are customers and this was not a good experience. I walked out after about 6th song.

  • Zebra At The Echo Lounge

by Rockchalk David on 4/29/24The Echo Lounge & Music Hall - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

What an unbelievable show! Zebra rocked for 2 hours. Played music from their 4 albums and then finished with Stairway To Heaven. Great venue to see a concert. If you ever get a chance to see these guys make sure you do.

  • Zebra rocked!!!

by Brian Moore on 4/29/24The Echo Lounge & Music Hall - DallasRating: 5 out of 5

After 40 years of following them I FINALLY saw them live, and they still got it!!! Randy's voice, which gets so high at times, is still there somehow! Felix on keys and bass and Guy on drums are both still rocking it! If they come to Dallas again me and my buddy Scotty will be there!

  • Very nice venue

by Srob on 4/29/24The Echo Lounge & Music Hall - DallasRating: 4 out of 5

Very nice, first time there. Only 2 suggestions. Drinks could be better at $39 for 2, and The Venue was advertised as cashless, but the Bands merchandise was cash only, so that put me in a bind not being able to purchase what I wanted.

  • Great music and venue

by Scorpions Joe on 4/5/24The Factory - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

First time to the Factory in Chesterfield. Very nice venue. Zebra was out standing. So cool that these three guys have been together since 1975. Sounded great and put on a great show

  • Better than expected

by Bigdog on 4/3/24The Factory - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome concert. They were even better than I expected and I wished they could have played even longer. They are great musicians and they were tight as a band. The drummer was incredible. The energy he had was amazing. I’d go see them again in a heartbeat.

  • Killer show

by Chris on 4/2/24The Factory - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Zebra is the tightest and biggest sounding 3 piece live band I have ever heard. As expected they put on an absolute incredible show. Randy's voice on the high end is showing its age a bit understandably, but he still sings like the album and his guitar chops persist unabated. You could feel Felix's bass playing from your seat and his prowess on keyboards made the songs really come alive. Guy really needs to be seen to be believed. While his performances on the record are never over the top but precisely what is needed, his live playing interjects an added character to the rest of the band that is just a joy to hear. And his drum solo is in Neil Peart territory. They are getting older and I am too, so Im not sure I'll get "one more chance"(to quote Randy)to see them play in St. Louis again, but if they come back I'll be there! Im so glad to have seen such a huge sounding band once again.

First time at the factory, beautiful venue and enjoyed some old rock and rollers still kickin it. Beer a little pricey but that's every where.

Was the first time attending a show at The Factory. Everything about the event and experience was great. The staff was friendly and helpful, the venue is awesome, and the sound was phenomenal. All of the bands sounded very good and Zebra was over the top.

  • Zebra ROCKED!

Old dudes can still bring it. Randy Jackson hit all the high notes and Guy on drums had a great solo.

by Jojo on 4/2/24The Factory - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

Absolutely fantastic show, band sounded great and sound was awesome. Randy can still play and sing at a very high level, probably one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time.

  • Excellent

by Mimi on 4/2/24The Factory - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

The band was excellent as always. I love the venue. Great sound. I love the wide seats on the lower level. Not shoved in there like sardines and sitting right on top of complete strangers. Great parking. Handicap parking is right in front of the venue where they are supposed to be. The only negative is the water option. We are not drinkers and we are not soda drinkers. The only option for water is Liquid Death in a can which is disgusting. You can taste the aluminum from the can. Once it gets a little warm it is even more disgusting. They offered ice water in a cup which is a decent alternative, however it would be nice if bottled water was available. Less chance of spillage.

  • Always a great show with Zebra!

by Lisa K on 4/2/24The Factory - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

So good that I can't wait to see them again. Go and you won't be disappointed..

  • Absolutely Fabulous

by Randy on 4/2/24The Factory - St. LouisRating: 5 out of 5

First time at: The Factory. Excellent staff starting with Security Team. Beautiful Building, 2 Seats were upper level and perfect for viewing, sound and access to our seats were safety lighted at all times. Was met immediately by a lovely Lady who helped us with our seat location. Zebra was a birthday gift for my Wife Julie, now 63. Greatly looking forward to seeing The American ELO, on my Birthday - April 25, 2024, turning 63 with my Wife. Thank You Ticketmaster and The Factory. Exceptional Experience!

  • Hopeful

by Nick & Pepita on 11/26/23The Paramount - HuntingtonRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I bought the zebra tickets in hopes that we would get to the show because we really like late 70s early 80s rock. Unfortunately, my husband has cancer and had treatment the day before. Because of the treatment we were unable to go to the show and had to eat the tickets. Sorry we missed it, we’ll just keep trying to be hopeful.. God Bless!!

But because my husband, Nick has cancer and had treatment the day before we weren’t up to making the show. Really sorry we missed it but we took a chance and bought the tickets and had to eat them. No regrets always hopeful God bless everyone!!
