About

Zebra on Tour

Zebra galloped out of New Orleans in early 1975. The trio, consisting of Randy Jackson, Felix Hanemann and Guy Gelso, concocted their moniker from a 1926 Vogue magazine cover and soon won over the South and East Coast. In 1982 Zebra's self-titled debut album went gold and was the fastest selling debut album in Atlantic Records' history thanks to the radio and MTV airplay of "Tell Me What You Want" and "Who's Behind the Door?". Veteran producer Jack Douglas (John Lennon, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick) also helmed the follow-up, "No Tellin' Lies". The songs range from the hard-rocking "Wait Until the Summer's Gone" to the Beatle-esque ballad, "Lullaby". With the release of their third Atlantic album "3.V", Zebra took their career one step farther: the album's credits read "Produced by Randy Jackson and Zebra". Thus, for the very first time, the group gained complete control of its creative output. A collection of the finest songs they have ever written, "3.V" clearly shows Zebra's lasting power and originality. In all, Zebra fans enjoyed a total of five videos aired on MTV and have given the band combined album sales of nearly 2 million worldwide. Zebra emerged from the studio again in 2003 with "ZEBRA IV", on Mayhem Records. This could possibly be the best effort by Zebra to date with powerful cuts which include "Arabian Nights", "Why" and "Waiting To Die". Zebra's live performances often last over two hours and showcase their new material along with all the classic Zebra tunes: "Who's Behind the Door?", "Tell Me What You Want", "Wait Until the Summer's Gone", "Bears", "One More Chance" and other all-time favorites including an occasional Led Zeppelin cover. "ZEBRA THE DVD", released in 2008 captures the band's energy and power on stage. The DVD features live concert footage from both Long Island and the House of Blues in New Orleans in addition to several interviews and bonus features. In 2010 Zebra was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame and is acknowledged as Louisiana's #1 Rock and Roll band by the Louisiana Music Commission. On October 18, 2012 Zebra was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame. Celebrating their 40 Anniversary in 2015 Zebra continues to WOW audiences across the country with their Hard-Rocking Live shows performing in select markets nationwide.-Making a Triumphant Return to NYC in November 2019.

Zebra @ Cleveland House of Blues

by RegionRat17 on 11/13/23House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

Great show, great musicians! I’ve been waiting a long time for them to come to Cleveland and they did not disappoint! It was heavily centered on their first album with at least one song off their other 3 albums. Their sound was great even if the songs were played slightly slower than the album tracks. Very enjoyable!!

by Horrible Little Man on 11/13/23House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

Randy Jackson & the boys (Felix and Guy) made my 40 year wait to see Zebra well worth it. Hooked up with an old friend I haven't seen in decades, and that made it more special. Come back to Ohio waaaaay sooner next time Zebra!!!

    Amazing Band

by Lyn on 6/24/23House of Blues Houston - Houston

Zebra was great as always. The seating @ the House of Blues (right side) was not so good. Could barely see Randy. Would love to see them with the Houston Symphony Orchestra.

    Zebra Great Show

by Carl on 6/20/23House of Blues Houston - Houston

I saw Zebra first in 1985 at the building formerly known as The Summit when they opened for REO Speedwagon. I had heard a couple of their songs but, I am sure you can all guess what those were. I bought both their albums immediately, well cassette tapes to be fair. And waited for them to break big because they would. Well, I did not get to see them again until this show for the 40th Anniversary of the first album. I always tried to find them playing near wherever I was but timing was never right. I heard just the day before that they would be in town so I looked for tickets and there were still good seats available. We had dinner at House of Blues which was good, we were picked out of the line and offered the opportunity to go to the Founder’s Room and enter through the stage entrance bypassing the line. Great setup, and great luck for us. The opening act really did not do it for me, but maybe someday they will get it together a little better. Zebra came out and was amazing. I was greatly impressed with how great they sounded, even more impressive was Randy Jackson’s vocal control and ability to hit most of the high notes he is known for. And to be clear most meant all to me, I did not notice the songs being played or sung in a lower key. All the hits were played as well as a great cover of “Kashmir”. I did not time the show but 90+ minutes seems about right. Best show I have seen since R40.

The House of Blues Show Even Outdid the Rise Rooftop Show

by scottsh115 on 6/20/23House of Blues Houston - Houston

This was a fantastic show. Randy's guitar playing is always on, but tonight, his voice sounded no different than 40 years ago. Felix was very animated and engaged the crowd. Guy was thunderous all night, and his solo during "The La La Song" was dramatic. At my age, the House of Blues balcony is a nice place to see a show because I have a dedicated chair, but sitting near the center is preferable to seats on the outer edges.

    Zebra Still Rocks!

by Ricky on 6/20/23House of Blues Houston - Houston

I grew up with them in New Orleans. They stated as a Led Zeppelin cover band that played at CYO gatherings. They were always great and moved on with their own music through MTV times. Randy is still unbelievable and his falsetto voice remains unmatched! Thanks for a great time! You Still Rock!

    1st time seeing Zebra live

by Krust on 6/6/23The Van Buren - Phoenix

Very easy to get around the venue, like the patio. The show itself was excellent, great musicianship. They played their debut album, all the songs were played so well. Randy’s vocals on point and still has the range. The other players supremely talented. Would see this band again, if they come back.

Amazing start to finish. Clean friendly venue and all 3 band

by Daniel on 6/4/23The Van Buren - Phoenix

First off I did not know there were 3 bands playing but was very surprised the first two were very good. The venue was great, very clean and polite friendly staff. I was happy chairs were set up instead of SRO and I was thrilled they were selling shirts!!! The one thing I did not like was that I was front row but with the way the lights were I was looking up the whole show and part of the show I could not see the performers very well but I loved every minute of the venue and the show and zebra kicked butt!!!
