About

Young M.A. Background

Young M.A. dropped her official debut single, "Ooouuu," in 2016. It's now a triple-platinum trap hit that peaked at No. 19 in the Hot 100s and boasts 284 million views on YouTube. She has been killing it ever since.

The Brooklyn emcee (nÊe Katorah Marrero) of Puerto Rican and Jamaican descent began spitting bars at 9 years old, taking cues from 50 Cent's hardcore lyrics yet easy flow. In 2014, she name-checked her borough "Brooklyn (Chiraq Freestyle)," a song that went viral on Facebook for its grim and menacing lyrics.

Yet the 26-year-old is shattering stereotypes as she openly rhymes about her sexual identity (and conquests), a rare move within the aggro-rap scene that's further helping unify LGBTQ artists in hip-hop. Since her breakout debut single, the self-made rapper has gotten plenty of notable shoutouts, like from her hero 50 Cent, who called her "the hottest sh*t out right now" on Instagram.

That respect led the tough-talking veteran to remix "Ooouuu," along with other heavyweights like Nicki Minaj, French Montana, and A$AP Ferg. Beyoncé tipped her hat at the young lyricist when Queen Bey featured the song on her Instagram page. With 2017's ‘Herstory' EP, and a slew of chart-topping 2018 singles under her belt, Young M.A. keeps broadening her appeal. She's already earned nominations for MTV's Artist of the Year and BET's Female Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, and even a feature on the 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30.

Young M.A In Concert

Armed with a gritty, street-style flow and a tough, boyish swagger, Young M.A. (meaning Young Me Aways) has been captivating crowds with her sly-but-chill showmanship. Her potent rhymes, often set against eerie trap atmospherics, caught the attention of 50 Cent, who wrote "I don't like a lot of sh*t but this is Tuff" on social media.

The rap upstart has opened for Beyoncé at the MetLife Stadium and made TV appearances alongside Alicia Keys on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.' In 2019, audiences get to see Young M.A. showcase her linguistic prowess at the Pot of Gold Music Festival along with Lil Wayne, Post Malone, Cardi B, and Young Thug.

    AWESOME!!

by StephyBaby on 5/9/22The Underground - Charlotte

That joint was fire🔥. She sung her new hits and was very involved with the crowd. Unfortunately I'm so short I couldn't manage to make a way up to the stage but she even did that a couple times. Pull a bunch of people on stage and dance. Really Really great performance!!

    Fire

by MZBUTCHER10 on 5/6/22Theatre of Living Arts - Philadelphia

Young MA was everything I thought she'd be. Down to earth, energetic and talented. Her live performance was out of this world. We've followed her since the #HennyHoes days and wow. Now I was only a little disappointed in the goodie bags. Per the website for her tour there should have been a lot more in those bags and the meet and greet was just a rushed through photo opp.

    I was disappointed

by Ro on 3/21/22Revolution Concert House & Event Center - Garden City

The drinks were overpriced and Young MA’s performance was to short. I waited for hours to hear her music to just hear 30 seconds of a few songs. I was confused when the concert ended so abruptly as she just walked off stage.

    by Telly on 12/8/21

I am a big fan of Young M.A and I was actually gifted a ticket to see her on 12/6/2021. Absolutely loved it. The performers before her had great energy. Finally, I was able to see her live instead of on YouTube. Man, mind blown, she’s so humble and the crowd was rocking and rapping every song. Wish I was able to meet her but overall, I really enjoyed every minute.

    Awesome Show

by MAFan on 12/2/19The Masquerade - Purgatory - Atlanta

All I can say is she was awesome and sooooo super duper fly! Apparently doors opened at 7 (which was listed as show time) so we were there and waiting at 7:30. No opener. DJ came on stage around 8:30 or 8:45. M.A came on around 9:15. Set lasted about an hour. Entertained the whole time! Mannnn, I was completely mesmerized by her (absolutely beautiful AND iced out!). She did most of the Herstory in the Making and a couple songs from Herstory EP. Great show! Great connection with audience and funny! Wonderful show and definitely worth the wait!
