With four Grammy awards and eight million albums sold worldwide, Yolanda Adams is considered one of the greatest gospel performers of her era, achieving a level of success outside of her genre that few other gospel artists have experienced. After singing in several local Houston choirs as a child, Adams made her debut as a solo artist in 1988 with Just As I Am. The album was initially criticized for its fusion of jazz with traditional gospel, but the unique sound soon became her trademark. She hangs with the best while on tour, making worldwide stops throughout her career and performing to sold-out arenas of thousands of ticket holders. Her style is considered one of the bases for modern gospel, with its fusion of jazz, traditional gospel and rhythm and blues. Some of her live concert performances, such as Live in Washington, have gone on to become Grammy-winning performances. In 2011, she released her 11th studio album, Becoming, to critical acclaim.
Adams initially captured the attention of gospel labels when she debuted as a lead singer with Houston's Southeast Inspirational Choir. After her debut album took off, so, too, did her professional career, culminating with her most famous single, "The Battle is The Lord's". Her album, Mountain High...Valley Low, would earn Adams her first Grammy Award and a Dove Award. Along with several national honors, her career has been so genre-defining that in 2009, Billboard Magazine named her Best Gospel Artist of the Last Decade.

The staff at the Fox was courteous and professional. But this event did not start on time. It appears the sound was not working correctly. So the first artist had to stall. The 2nd artist, Hezekiah Walker has so many memorable songs. But for some reason he chose to sing the one song, "Faithful is our God"for what seemed like forever. Given that time was limited, he could have used that time to cover at least 3 of his more popular hits. John P Kee's sound was up so loud that you could not hear the lead singer. All you heard was base coming out of the speakers. They told Kee that his time was up more than once, and he kept going. Tye Tribett was the reason I bought my ticket. His time was cut short, I'm guessing due to time constraints. He only performed for like 13 minutes. When he said he was done I thought it was a prank. The comedian they hired to emcee had more time on stage than Tye Tribett. This concert was a major disappointment and a waste of money.
Yolanda was amazing! From worship to her awesome voice, she brought the spirit to the Fox! Hezekiah was really good but Pastor John P was a disappointment. We were unable to hear the singers because the music was too loud. Ty's performance was simply too short.
Attended the Fox Theater Gospel Concert with my GodSister/ business partner, Lisa. - Outstanding performances by Yolanda Adams, John P. Kee, Hezekiah Walker, and Tye Tribbett. - Unfortunately, the Sound system glitches were a significant downside. - The repeated interruptions and cut-short performances were extremely disappointing for such a high-profile venue like Fox Theater. Show was horrible. They sang 2 songs and Yolanda preached a sermon which was not needed. This will truly be my last show. I would like a refund.
I feel the artist were really good, however the show was delayed because of the sound system. This is not the first this has happened to me at the Fox. I bought my daughter to see Tye Tribbett and he was only on stage for a short period of time because the other artist used up the time. I feel the sound and the instruments should have been checked and ready by the time the first artist appeared on the stage. This was very disappointing.
She did an awesome job voice was amazing just very long didnât have enough time for the others but overall I loved her
I had been waiting for this concert for months. Yolanda Adams is my favorite female gospel singer. I have always wanted to see her in person. They had technical difficulties before the concert ever began. She did a great job with what she had to work with. The acoustics were terrible. The bass was so loud that you could not hear the singers that came after her. I like all the singers that came after her but it was Yolanda that I truly came to see. It was a hot mess the groups had to rush because of time. I am not sure that I want to return to the Foxx in the future. My husband paid a lot of money so that I would have good seats. It was such a disappointment. I made the best of it.
This was the worst concert Iâve ever been to. Everything about this was horrible. It was rushed and the sound was awful.
I am very dissatisfied with the concert. This was false advertisement. I came by myself and the headline made it seem as though Yolanda Adam's was not the headliner. I left when she left off stage. I was quite biased. I want a REFUND
