YELLE IN CONCERT:
French electropop sensation Yelle is an ingenue for a new generation, blending the innocence of '60s chanson with the production savvy of contemporary dance music. As stylish as she is talented, the bubbly singer takes the stage at her live shows in cutting-edge stagewear, dancing energetically while charming audiences with her thickly accented banter. Whether she's jumping around to early favorites like "A Cause des Garcons" or treating fans to cuts from her highly anticipated third album, Yelle always brings the dance party on her fun-loving tours.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Yelle was formed in 2005 by singer Yelle, a.k.a. Julie Budet, and drummer/producer GrandMarnier, a.k.a. Jean-Francois Perrier. The duo's first track "Je Veux Te Voir" became a MySpace sensation in 2005, generating significant buzz and landing them a deal with Source Records. After adding producer Tepr to their lineup, Yelle released their debut LP Pop Up in 2007 to glowing reviews and a No. 8 position on the US Dance chart. The album landed two Top 20 hits on the French charts and earned the group legions of fans around the world, resulting in three years of touring in support of the album. Yelle released their sophomore LP Safari Disco Club in 2011, once again reaching the Top 10 on the US Dance chart before embarking on a critically acclaimed world tour. With their highly anticipated third album hitting shelves in 2014, Yelle once again has fans eager to catch them in concert.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Yelle was amazing! Every song was amazing and I would definitely go again. She looked and acted genuinely happy to be there, and the energy of the crowd was infectious."
"Unforgettable experience. I've rarely seen artists as generous as Yelle. They give everything they have on stage. The crowd was dancing and singing to their songs, it was crazy!"
"Yelle was so hot and fun. The band was amazing live and had so much energy."
What an awesome show! Fun, dancey, arty, and joyful! Love the main floor, great to dance on.
Yelle has a fantastic presence on stage and gets the room energized dancing on their beats. Her voice is amazing and as good live than on the recordings. You can feel she has fun and that the band wants to establish a real connection with their fans. I will definitely come back for their next concert. Can't wait!
Great music, lots of fun. Only complaint was that she was very late coming on stage, but what can you do
Yelle was very entertaining! Great atmosphere - fun to dance to - great crowd interaction during the concert. Also very friendly and accommodating hanging around after the show to sign autographs and letting people take photos. Great experience overall!
Great venue, great show....really energetic. Giant dance party. Lots of glitter, animal masks, neon colors and hipster kids. Yelle puts on a fantastic performance...in a leopard print onesie no less. This was my second time seeing her and I would totally go again.
One of the best concerts I've ever been to. The venue was great, the audience a lot of fun, and the artist was phenomenal. It's great to see someone having so much fun doing what they do. She stayed after to meet and greet, and was super fun to hang out with. I had a truly great time.
concert was very short, but awesome. Very friendly atmosphere and good show!
This show was crazy fun. My only complaint was that it was too short. I could have danced for another hour.
I have a great time and danced all night, the beats were fresh and catchy. I had to buy a CD afterwards. Even if you don't speak French, you'll love the music. The fact Yelle is adorable shamelessly also helps in my opinion. Give this super cool band a chance!
While I expected to dance, I could not have predicted raging to this extent. French Horn Rebellion got the crowd writing like so few openers do nowadays and then Yelle took that energy and pumped it up with her leopard hoody jumpsuit. And yes, it's as good as it sounds. FHR was infectious and hilarious. Yelle gave us no choice but to dance and we were happy to oblige.
Fantastic concert !! Yelle is marvelous :) The whole place was quite literally jumping. If you haven't heard her music, you need to !
The event was amazing, and Yelle exceeded what I wanted! Long waits though and some rude people. But overall, 5 stars.
French Horn Rebellion really knows how to get a crowd involved. The sibling rivalry between the two brothers is brought out in their music, and it is very easy to tell that they are there to have fun with the audience. Yelle was also amazing. Yelle, who was drop dead gorgeous, had a lot of fun while she danced on the stage and shouted to the crowd. The venue itself, the Blue Bird Theater, was also very nice.
From start to finish, this show was great! French Horn Rebellion completely energized the crowd with their unique off-beat style. And once Yelle came out, every single person in the place was dancing. She had beautiful vocals and was so much fun to watch! This was the first concert I've been to where the crowd was shouting "Thank you's" back to the artist. After the concert, she was kind enough to take a picture and sign autographs for everyone who asked.
Wow! Yelle is an extremely fun and charismatic performer. All of her music was upbeat and the drummers were awesome. She also had very interesting outfits throughout the whole show! Great stuff to dance and chant to :) She is quite a foxy lady!
Yelle etait absolument fantastique! And for those that don't parle francais, it was a great show. There was a lot of energy, both on stage and in the crowd. The venue was small enough that I felt Julie was actually looking straight at me for a few moments. The set list was great, and right after the show Julie went over to where they were selling shirts and was signing things for people. Overall the venue was really nice and the show itself was magnificent. *Note on the setlist I posted...I can't remember all the songs they did, but it was a good portion of their 2 albums.
Yelle was amazing! The band are great performers, engaging the audience and making us dance!
I went to see this show without having listened to the music or being prepared in any way and the band were true entertainers! It didn't matter I didn't know them or what they were saying - I had a blast!
Yelle puts out an Ah-Mazing show! Do not miss the opportunity to check them live!
Hadn't really heard of Yelle until 2 days before the concert when I was asked if I wanted to go. I said yes and started looking into it more and bought my tickets. I didn't get there till 10 minutes into Yelle going on, but I was instantly excited to hear how good it was! I've only been going to dubstep and electro dances at Middle East, and this was the greatest change I could imagine: the music and sound was superb, and the Royale venue is beautiful. Lot's of room compared to other places and a much more pleasant and cleaner atmosphere. Yelle kept the energy up the whole time, although I wish it was longer! Only an hour set and a little more for encore. Very worth it though!
