Y&T rocked the Fillmore for 2 1/2 hours non-stop! Great show as always. Dave's voice is just awesome! The guys were playing hard-having fun! Y&T ROCKS!
Y & T was very solid in their show, It was great to see them post Monsters of Rock Cruise, where I got to hang out with them and see them two times in a week.. It was cool to see Don Dokken open the show acoustically, the fillmore is a great place to see a show.. It was also great to see Joey Alves and Leonard Haze show up and do two songs with Y & T. Joey looked like he never left the band, Leonard seemed to hold his own, but was not a everyday drummer, but did a very respectable job. Y & T and Dave Meniketti never disappoints, one of the greatest bands ever and probably outside of Montrose, the best hard rock act to come out of the Bay Area
This night was beyond amazing. I had attended quite a few Y&T concerts back in the '80s, but it had now been almost 30 years since I'd last seen one of my favorite bands live. I couldn't pass up this opportunity, because Y&T had been down to one original member for over five years now, and this show promised to be special with the return of the two other surviving members of the original, high-powered foursome to sit in on a couple songs. The show lived up to my expectations, and then some. The thunderous set lasted well over two hours and featured all the hits and some great deep cuts. The most recent additions to the band--guitarist John Nymann, bassist Brad Lang, and drummer Mike Vanderhule--were up to the task of upholding the legacy of this great band. But when founding member/drummer Leonard Haze and original rhythm guitarist Joey Alves took the stage with original (and current) lead singer/guitarist Dave Meniketti, it was magic. They played "25 Hours A Day" off their very first album, along with "Rhythm Or Not" off the album Contagious (which Haze chose even though he had left the band prior to that album), and the energy and fire was palpable. Alves returned for the final encore, "Forever," and then all the past and present members took a bow at center stage. All in all, an incredible experience.
You are five songs into this set before they slow it down for a minute to allow the audience to catch their breath. The band blasts thru ‘Hurricane’ from the first Y&T album into ‘Black Tiger’ with it pulsating rhythms, then flawlessly moves into the more AOR friendly ‘L.A. Rocks’, now the raunchy ‘Lipstick & Leather’ gets the crowd moving before finally getting everyone singing to ‘Don’t Stop Runnin’. This is the first five songs of 20 songs that will be played during the 2+ hours of the show. If you want to talk value, for a $20 ticket (in advance) you get 2+ hours and 20 songs performed with power and grace. Not a bad deal in todays market to pay a $1 a song. Y&T shows are never stale, they are never ordinary and most of all they are never boring. As a fan of this band for over 33 years, we haven’t missed a performance over the last 12+ years that they have been playing the NY area regularly and they were a major reason my brother and I went on the Monsters of Rock cruise twice. Y&T may fly under the radar by most rock and roll fans standards, because they were never Bon Jovi or Def Leppard or Van Halen, they never sold multi-platinum or sold out football stadiums but they know how to do one thing well, they know how to give 100%. I applaud them and their endurance and thank them for another amazing set with many memorable moments.
I didn't know many of their songs but they were still very enjoyable.
This was an awesome concert! Dave Meniketti is a great front man. I saw them the night before and this venue was better. I liked the fake snow during "I believe you".
Y & T is one of the best rock bands ever! They always put on an awesome show. Great music, great vocals...they never disappoint! They give it 110% for the whole 2 hour set.
It was a great show in a sweet small venue! Up close and personal with the band!! Just awesome!!
Yes, Dave Meniketti is the last man standing of the original line up. For many bands that marks a major divergence from the original sound. Masterfully, DM has cultivated a group of musicians who are truly happy playing Y&T music. This show more than any other I've seen with this lineup (say 8-10 times) showed the pure fun these 4 guys were having. And boy did they play their asses off. Please give the world another studio album. Would love to see and hear John, Brad, and Mike's contribution to the Meniketti led rock machine known to me and my friends as Yesterday and Today. I banged my head plenty in the Keystone in Berkeley when these guys were coming up.
I highly recommend this venue. Great concert experience! Y & T put on a great show.!!!
Saw Y&T at the Canyon Sunday March 8, 2015. They Blew The Roof Off The Place! Sound was killer. Song selection fantastic. Great Venue. Cold Beer & Good People. Bottom Line Y&T Delivers. Go see them anywhere they play. Seen them many many times. 1st time was Y&T opening for Dio on his Holy Diver Tour in 83 in Chicago at The Aragon Ball Room (Brawl Room) . Y&T just released Mean Streak. Been a long time fan ever since.
This was an incredible show. Dave and the boys still have the chops and rocked the house. They played a good mix of songs you know with a few that are less popular. 2 hours of solid rocking! Great venue for a show of this sort - loud and up close!
Amazing night at The Canyon Club, Y&T did 2 hours of all their top and most popular songs from the past 40 years. The song so great still and still look fantastic.
One of my favorite shows of all time! Brought back many memories, Dave and the boys still can rock the house!
Y&T are a hard rock band from Oakland, CA that formed in 1974. They are currently on their 40th anniversary tour. This band still rocks. They sounded great and made a point to say that everything we heard was live. Nothing was pre-recorded and backtracks are never used. The audience was engaged and rocked out the entire show. Rock & roll audiences are the best. They are there for the enjoyment of the music. Sometimes they look a bit hard, but are generally the most polite and least annoying of music genre audiences. Admittedly I’m not a huge fan of Y&T, but I am familiar with several songs that were released in the 80s. You don’t need to know every song to enjoy yourself at a concert. Good music is good music. When it is combined with a powerful live performance it is even better. Ron Keel is a heavy metal singer and guitarist. This set was predominately Ron and his guitar. He worked the stage well and told stories about the songs before he performed them. Ron heavily pushed his new album, “Metal Cowboy”, talking about all the people that he worked with during its production. Frank Hannon from Tesla and Aaron Leigh from Frank Hannon Band came on stage to perform a few songs with Ron. Even though his set was a bit heavy on the self-promotion, Ron Keel did rock.
These guys rock! Incredibly talented musicians. Tireless and enthusiastic. Great sound. 2.5 hours of great Y&T hits. They are tight! Very tight! These guys can sing and sound great. I am sold. I will follow these guys all over. Can't wait to see them again!!!
Simply amazing as usual. Y&T never put on a bad show! True Bay Area and Rock & Roll legends!!!
Sat nite's show opened with an explosive, super high energy rendition of Black Tiger. And they killed it from there all the way to the end of the show. Dave Meniketti has been holding this band together for so long, it's amazing. God bless Brad, John, and Mike for working so hard on stage to keep the classics alive. I hope the new release next year tops Facemelter....but how long can these guys can keep it up...not sure.
I haven't seen this band since their Black Tiger tour. Wow, thirty years later, they still rocks. The most underrated rock band.
Great to see them live, they put on a good show. Singer still rocks which is awesome because I think he's the only original member left. Halfway through 'Midnight in Tokyo' the bassist from Dokken came out and sang with Y&T, which was totally random but cool.
