  • Great show

by Pat on 9/3/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Been a few years between shows, still as great as ever!

  • Amazing musicianship, so fun!

by Wendz on 9/3/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I was a huge X fan in the 80’s. I was so happy to hear they were performing. The show was amazing - I danced through the whole thing. Approx. 75% classics, 25% new stuff - all good. They are such a tight group, each one immensely talented. Really glad to have seen the show. Might have been some sound issues in the beginning and wished the crowd was a little more hyped (we’re old, get used to it, lol) but overall, Loved it!!!! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • Great show horrible parking

by Mer on 8/5/23Rating: 4 out of 5

The show was amazing- great sound and the bands were great. Its a nice venue. Getting into the venue was hard- parking was awful- I paid for reserved parking but the lots were full and all entrances blocked off. It took an hour to find off site parking . We asked traffic control a few times but both time directed to closed lots

  • X Marks the Spot (with Save Ferris & the English Beat)

by Richard Anthony on 8/4/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Got to be honest. I knew of “Save Ferris” but I couldn’t say I knew any of their songs. What fun they were! They have a new fan. I’ve kinda stayed away from “The English Beat” after Ranking Roger split and Dave Wakeling claimed the bands name. But I really enjoyed them. SO many great songs. And finally that brings us to “X”. I’ve seen them well over a dozen times and though a couple shows weren’t the best, this one was a good one. They did play new material, which was OK, and I understand them needing to do that, but I sure would have liked to hear a few of the old standards they had to skip in order to fit the new stuff in. But two thumbs up for all of them!

  • Save Ferris and X Awesome

by Gee on 8/4/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Had the best seats to see my all time fave X . They never disappoint. Always a great show at the OC FAIR. Save Ferris was so amazing. Monique’s energy gets you going and keeps you going. Amazing voice and the band rocked. Go see them anytime you have a chance. They have a show coming up in November .

  • Rock stars

    by X fan on 8/4/23Rating: 5 out of 5

X is a consistent rock band. This night at the OC fair was no exception. They have a unique beat is it punk is it folk? They ended the show with a cover from the Doors how cool is that? On my way out I bought a souvenir T shirt a great night of live music. Rock stars they are.

  • Blast from the Past!

by Jethro Bodine on 8/3/23Rating: 4 out of 5

Had a great time at the show with my 20-yr old daughter. Have got her hooked on late 70s & 80s new wave and punk bands that I loved in my late teens. Remember hearing songs from X's Los Angeles album on Rodney on the Roq back in 1980, especially Johnny Hit and Run Paulene, which they played. Had never seen them live until Sunday. Best song of night was I must not think bad thoughts with DJ's solo on vibraphone & Zoom's sax solo. They played 20+ songs for over 1.5 hours and we enjoyed every minute!

  • X was awesome

by Robert on 8/3/23Rating: 5 out of 5

X still puts on a great show, even at a bigger venue. Great songs to sing along to make it fun even for assigned seating venues. Getting into the parking lot was awful, of course, even in a motorcycle. Multiple merch tables made purchases easy.

  • Great show by X as usual

    by B. A. on 8/2/23Rating: 5 out of 5

The performance by X was great. The venue however had low volume. That is my only complaint. Looking forward to seeing X again near me.

by London on 8/2/23Rating: 5 out of 5

I’ve been waiting years and years to see X live and I was is no way disappointed. I’ve been listening to X since I was a kid and this was FINALLY my first live show. I will definitely see them again! Worth it in every way. Great, amazing show that I will remember forever!

  • Awesome Night!

    by Ed H on 8/2/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Save Ferris and The English Beat rocked as usual. X had the same energy and consistency as the previous 5 times I've seen them. After the first song Exene left the stage unexpectedly that seemed to confuse John but I learned the next morning that her childhood friend, Paul Rubens (aka: Pee Wee Herman), passed away that very evening... A big loss for everyone but a huge loss for Exene.. She kept it together like the professional she is despite her loss. I will keep going back to see X as long as they keep hitting the stage.

  • X the Band

by Renie on 8/2/23Rating: 5 out of 5

Pacific Amphitheater was great. Seats were great! Really really hot!!! I was melting but drinks helped. The show was outstanding and I really love the selection of entertainment being provided!!! Bring them back when it is cooler!!!

  • Great performance

by MR on 8/2/23Rating: 5 out of 5

X put on a great show! I’ve been a fan for about two decades. This was my first time seeing them. I wasn’t sure what to expect since they’ve been around for a long time. I was blown away! We had good seats right behind the sound board at Pacific Amphitheater at the OC Fair.

  • Issue

by Steve on 8/2/23Rating: 1 out of 5

Lead singer was so high she couldn't stand still let alone sing. Left stage on multiple occasions and came back on more f'd up then when she left.

  • This venue blows

    by 1982 on 8/2/23Rating: 2 out of 5

Volume seemed turned down. Not loud. And 4.0 Modelo type beer only. NO IPA. Weak venue experience!! X was great, as usual.

  • Not their best

by Long time X fan on 8/2/23Rating: 1 out of 5

The show was okay. No, it wasn't. X was okay, having their usual sound problems during their opening. The overall mix was poor; Bill's guitar sound had the edge off soggy cardboard. The English Beat were fun in a rote kind of way, with almost zero charisma. We missed Save Ferris because we had to park many, many blocks away, as the parking lots were full. Once we were in the amphitheater, the three people in front of us stood taking selfies the entire time. I'm fine with folks dancing and enjoying themselves, but they were clearly there for the Orange County "see where I am!"brainlessness too many concert seats are filled with. I doubt they even knew who was performing. Any one of these complaints can be excused, but all at once they remind me that some shows aren't worth going to anymore.

  • Amazing

by Jesse on 8/2/23Rating: 5 out of 5

X was amazing, finally a chance to see them and would see them again in a heartbeat

  • Great bands, poor sound & X vocals

by Good music on 8/2/23Rating: 3 out of 5

Venue was fine. Save Ferris had great energy, performed well, and got the audience engaged dancing in/on their seats! Dave Wakeling and English Beat were not up to their heyday standards, but good energy and audience engagement. A longtime favorite, X, did not fare so well. Musically, X was fantastic (though I think some were put off with Billy Zoom sitting, due to a medical condition)! However, during their entire set, the sound was muddy with uneven microphone levels/tones. But, the worst part was the vocals of John and Exene. They were off from each other and from the music. This was very odd because I’ve never heard them so out of tune - even recently. It is perplexing, to say the least. I suspect that they (both?) were suffering some sort of sickness and didn’t want to cancel. I look forward to reviews of later shows to see if this anomaly remains

  • Always Awesome

by Mouse on 8/2/23Rating: 5 out of 5

X never disappoints!! I see them several times a year from small venues to amphitheaters. They have amazing energy and they sound great!!
