About

Synopsis

The "World Famous" LIPIZZANER STALLIONS includes many of the traditional movements and exercises presented at the world-renowned Spanish Riding School of Vienna. While maintaining a classical presentation of the Lipizzaner, also featured is the forefather of the Lipizzaner - the Spanish Andalusian - in a themed routine set to Spanish music.  Other exciting departures from tradition include a rousing number set to the big band music of the swing era.

Many of the horses and riders who appear in this Anniversary edition were hand picked by producer Gary Lashinsky to perform in this family oriented arena attraction.  Over the years, more than twenty-five million people throughout North and South America, The United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Hawaii have seen this internationally acclaimed spectacle.

The graceful dance of the Lipizzaner Stallions is a breathtaking ballet over 400 years in the making.  A highlight of the performance is their spectacular leaps and maneuvers known as the "Airs Above the Ground" which were born in the fury of the battlefield. Now these stunning maneuvers are preserved as an equestrian work of art that you can witness from the safety of your seat!

The Lipizzan is a rare and unique breed; its history and culture is known worldwide.   The Walt Disney movie The Miracle of the White Stallions, depicting General George S. Patton saving them at the end of World War II from certain extinction, created an even greater worldwide interest in the Lipizzaner breed.  Had it not been for Patton, there would be no Lipizzans today.

Harkening back to a time when the horse was a symbol of grace and majesty, the LIPIZZANER STALLIONS are a fun and entertaining family experience. One does not need to be a horse lover to enjoy the skill and beauty of the "The Dancing White Stallions".

    Well....

by Anonymous on 6/25/11Save Mart Center - Fresno

Maybe my expectations were to high on this one. The horses just seemed a little tired or holding back. The bright spot in the show was "Elivis" when he came out and performed it was impressive!!! A real showman!

    Non-horse fanatics need not apply

by Toonuhh on 6/22/11Save Mart Center - Fresno

I went with my girlfriend and she is a horse fanatic. She grew up riding horses. For her it was a good show. She could appreciate the horsemanship and the horses themselves. By far the horse that received the most applause is a Non-Lipizzaner breed. If you are not a horse fanatic the show is somewhat disappointing. Seems like they do the same things in every vignette of the show.

    Lipizzaner Stallions Boring!

by PattyLeeBrown on 6/22/11Save Mart Center - Fresno

The Lippizzaners show was not very interesting the animals appeared tired and bored. They did not seem to want to perform. I do not know if this is from preforming to much or what. The animals were beautiful but for some reason did not seem as graceful as I had thought they would be. The Black Duch horse was everything that I thought the Lippinzaner Stallions should be. He was a joy to watch!

June 18 afternoon show was a letdown

by diablomini on 6/21/11Power Balance Pavilion - Sacramento

Unfortunately, this show was not what I was hoping for. I have seen the Lipizzaner Stallions a few times, and this show was lacking compared to the other shows I have seen.

    Disappointing

by SactownMurray on 6/21/11Power Balance Pavilion - Sacramento

They only brought five Lippizzaner horses and they weren't matched very well in size; two of them had their tails braided and the others didn't; While these are not significant - it only served to magnify the loss of synchronicity in the multi-horse performances. The interior arena was too small requiring the riders to "single file" the turns and that threw off the precision moments. The classical music was fine for the adults and is traditional, but it put the younger audience to sleep. The "Airs" movements were also disappointing. I realize the Capriolet (sp) is incredibly difficult and I appreciated the effort the horse put forth to accomplish this movement, however the other positions were demonstrated just one time. Given how heavily these feats were promoted, myself and those around me were very disappointed. The highlight was the black Fresian "Tiburon". His fast paced performance to big band swing was exciting and entertaining to watch. Overall, not a good value for my money.

    Lipizzaner Stallion Performance Disappointing

by Mermaidoutofh2o on 6/21/11Power Balance Pavilion - Sacramento

I'm a horse rider & lover. My mom has talked about seeing the Lipizzaner Stallions in San Fracisco back in the 70's and said they were amazing! I surprised my mom & took her to the show in Sacramento. We were extremely disaapointed. My mom said it was NOTHING like it was 30+ years ago. The performance was like watching an overpriced dressage show to classical music. My 3 year old who goes ballistic over horses even fell asleep half way through the performance and I wasn't far behind her. I won't be wasting a Saturday afternoon & $75 again. :(

Lipizzaner Stallions Dance the Night Away!

by AuraBlueyes on 6/20/11Power Balance Pavilion - Sacramento

Whether you are a horse fan or not, the Lipizzaner Stallions are a joy to watch. They have style, grace and rhythm. The crowd was surprised with a dressage demonstration by a Freesian Stallion named Tiburon who tore up the floor with his beat to the music from the Big Band era. What a delightful show, a rare treat for Sacramento.

    la-pizza-stall

by budwman on 6/20/11Power Balance Pavilion - Sacramento

Exceedingly poor. To see the real Lipizzaner stallions perform in Vienna is a breathtaking and almost numinous experience. This performance was a miserable attempt at Haute Ecole. The horses were white and probably mostly lipizzan but that is about as close as they came to presenting the unparagoned efficacty that earned the time honored status of an Austrian National Treasure. Any attempt from the mezair to the capriole(which after several pathetic attempts failed miserably.) left you with the feeling that your were watching the loading of a meat truck on the way to the dog food plant.

Lipizzaner Stallions - A Must See for Everyone

by ALGP on 6/20/11Power Balance Pavilion - Sacramento

Excellent performance. A must see for everyone. Talented riders and horses. Informative announcer kept the audience engaged and interested. Delivered great facts about the history of the Lipizzaners and their trainer/riders.

    The Event

by ELDORADOMIKE on 6/20/11Power Balance Pavilion - Sacramento

I am not Horse Crazy. I did like some of the things the horses were trained to do, however I did not think this was spectacular. To be honest, the hype and advertising that preceded the event made me think it was going to be something fantastic! I would say that overall the experience for me was a let down. My wife did enjoy the event, and she Loves horses, so maybe my experience is "just a guy thing"

    A sad little circus

by Leibchen on 6/19/11Power Balance Pavillion - Sacramento

The first Lipizanner Stallion show that I saw many years ago had a huge cast of horses and riders -- part of the magic was watching the flawless execution of moves as these horses performed drills together. So it was with disbelief that the show I watched Sunday in Sacramento had only four Lipizzaner horses and riders! These horses were used throughout the performance and demonstrated not so much excellent training, but reluctance to perform, especially the "airs above the ground" which would have made an authentic Spanish Riding School student cry with shame. This cadre of horses and performers reminded me of the movie "Water for Elephants" -- it is a broke down little circus making the rounds of U.S. arenas. I recommend saving your money -- buy the Disney film "Miracle of the White Stallions" if you want your children to have a "Lipizzaner experience."

    Lipizzaner stallion show in Tri-Cities

by horsemom2 on 6/12/11Toyota Center Kennewick - Kennewick

I thought the length of the show was perfect. I thought the MC was good. He was funny and I liked the things he explained. I thought the outfits of the riders' were nice. The horses were well trained and it was okay if they were "real" and refused sometimes to do things the first time. I was disappointed in the riding skills of the riders. The oldest rider was good and a couple of the girls, but there were two riders that were bouncing all over the place. I had gone thinking these were horses/riders were from the riding school in Vienna, you know like the real ones from the Austria, but I think not now. If you love horses and aren't particular about riding skill, you would think it was awesome.

    Perfect for the Whole Family

by Ldyrnnr on 6/12/11Toyota Center Kennewick - Kennewick

The show was very good and made even more interesting because of the fact that 2 of the riders were from the local area. The horses were beautiful and elegant. The riding seemed effortless because the cues were very subtle. The show was made more interesting by the commentator's comments about the history of the Lipizzaners.

    Georgeous Display of Horseflesh

by MooseMelon on 6/12/11Toyota Center Kennewick - Kennewick

Loved it! A little disappointed in the turnout. Promoters should have stressed the fact that we had some local riders in the show. I was surprised to hear about it when they announced it.
