About

THE WOODEN SKY IN CONCERT:

Canadian indie darlings The Wooden Sky have been wowing fans and critics with their relaxed, evocative brand of fuzzed-out folk for the better part of the last decade. At their immersive live shows the band’s warm guitar tones and languid harmonies are more inviting than ever, and lead singer Gavin Gardner’s soulful croon draws ticket buyers further into their rich soundscape. The Wooden Sky may be Canadian, but expansive folk masterpieces like “Our Hearts Were Young” and “North Dakota” conjure the vast romantic landscapes of Americana, making every show a truly cinematic experience. With their dynamic blend of distorted guitars and delicate harmonies, The Wooden Sky treats ticket buyers to a powerful and resonant concert experience every time they take the stage

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The Wooden Sky began in Toronto in the mid-‘00s as the school recording project of singer-songwriter Gavin Gardiner. He formed the band after graduating and in 2007 the group made their debut with the album When Lost at Sea. They followed up in 2009 with their sophomore album If I Don’t Come Home You’ll Know I’m Gone, which featured a more ambitious and layered take on the straightforward folk sound of their debut. The group toured extensively in support of the album, performing throughout Europe and North America with bands like Yukon Blonde and The Rural Alberta Advantage. Their third album, 2012’s Every Child a Daughter, Every Moon a Sun, earned them their first appearance on the Canadian charts, and in 2014 they reached the apex of their critical success with the LP Let’s Be Ready. That album landed on numerous year-end lists, leading to another acclaimed tour that further cemented their role as lynchpins of contemporary folk music.
