Winnipeg Jets History
The Winnipeg Jets were founded in 1997 as the Thrashers, and began play in the 1999–2000 NHL season, spending 11 seasons in Atlanta and making the playoffs once in 2006-2007. In 2011, the franchise was sold to True North Sports and Entertainment, which relocated the team to Winnipeg and adopted the name of the city's original franchise in the World Hockey Association, the Jets.
Major league hockey dates back to 1972 in Winnipeg, which was home to one of the founding franchises of the WHA and one of four (along with Quebec, Hartford and Edmonton) to join the NHL when the leagues merged in 1979. The original Jets moved to Phoenix in 1996 and became the Phoenix Coyotes (then the Arizona Coyotes, who were in play from 1994 to 2024). In the 14 seasons that the Jets have been in Winnipeg, they’ve made eight playoff appearances, including a run to the Western Conference Finals in 2018.
In 2016, the team established the Winnipeg Jets Hall of Fame, with the "Hot Line" trio of Anders Hedberg, Bobby Hull and Ulf Nilsson as the inaugural inductees. Recent inductees include Teemu Selänne and Teppo Numminen.

Went to see the Jets and Leafs game on January 2nd. The arena was awesome. So glad I went.
Great venue and atmosphere, purchasing tickets was easy. Ample parking.
The smile was from ear to ear and did not leave his face for quite some time after our trip home to Red Lake. He was able to share with his dad and mom all the exciting things he saw and participated in. He was sitting on the edge of his seat the hole game! My grandson is six years old and lives in a small town in northwestern Ontario so making the six hour car ride with his papa and mama was just what he wanted to do as he started his Christmas break from school! I thought of this as a gift for him since last March and was able to purchase the tickets back in September / October and let me tell you it was hard for this mama to keep the secret but I did till the day before we left! The best gift ever and the memories he will have a life time!
Nothing beats an NHL game on home ice, looking forward to the next game.
I was disappointed at how little interaction there was with the kids/fans. For some this is the only Jets event affordable and there was nothing. Half the players stood around talking to eachother instead of fans. Barely any signed gear for kids. It was very disheartening.
Great affordable experience for the entire family.
I had fun and it was every affordable because it was cheap
Great stadium, easy event parking nearby for $15, skywalk straight to arena available without going out in the cold. The game was exciting, ending in sudden death overtime. Even sitting in the high seats on the end of the arena the view was better than expected.
Had a good time, and great place to see a game. Prices are reasonable and lower bowl had fans instead of suits in the stands.
It was the second of the 2 NHL home games I saw in Winnipeg, visiting from Switzerland. I enjoyed the game althought it was one-sided on that evening. Now I have visited all 31 NHL-cities ! Not bad…… :-)
My family and I went to Winnipeg to watch our favorite team play the Jets. The Pittsburgh Penguins won the game. We had a great experience there. The stadium was nice and the Jets fans that were in our section were all awesome also. The love of hockey is great.
Was an exciting playoff game, I Love the Jets 💙 better luck next year boys!
The crowd, the game, the vibe and the win! It was all great!
I had a fantastic time. The staff at the venue were excellent. Everything was perfect. I reccomend visiting Bell MTS Place.
Its a great time. Very chill, and a good deal for the price of tickets. I go every year.
Great start to the new season! Great seats, friendly helpful staff who made the Jets game fun. This Jets fan always loves coming home to watch our team kick butt. True North & the Jets never disappoint!!!
Attended the WhiteOut Party in the Family Friendly Zone. Awesome Expierence. It was a great evening. Only issue was the Water Trucks did not show up, so I couldn't refill my water bottle.
I highly recommend you spend your life savings for these tickets. Great time!
Great fan experience. Building great. Fans welcome visiting fans.
Tickets were easily obtained at the Will Call window, parking at the Library was a breeze. With a Jets WIN, it was a perfect Night!!!
