My husband and I were looking to shake up our Saturday night with something different than eating out or watching movies. We enjoyed the sport of Roller Derby, the spectators and the venue. All in all we had a wonderful evening.
Of course, I had visions of the banked rink roller-derby I grew up watching and loving in the 60s. You couldn't beat that mix of rough and tumble and speed. Flash forward, and you get a cheap flat track, fluorescent lights that are never dimmed, half-cocked skaters, little action, horrible public address, and on. Stay home. Rent the Raquel Welch movie, Kansas City Bomber. Save your money.
For the first time seeing a roller derby, it was awesome! We were right by the track which was cool.
This was my first time at a Roller Derby event and I enjoyed it though it was smaller than I imagined. I purchased the General Admission (GA) tickets; this is the way to go. The track side seats are folding chairs about 10 feet in front of the GA seats. To me, that wouldn't have been worth the extra money. Overall, fun sporting event; I would go again.

Great time---great seats--fishnets! I highly recommend heading to a windy city rollers game!
It was a lot of fun-I had never been to a roller derby before and it was entertaining....loved the half time show!
This was my first time attending a roller derby event, and it was a great time! I must admit that at first I really didn't totally understand the scoring and the penalties, but even as a first-timer, by the end of the evening I had mostly caught on to what was happening on the track. The derby games themselves were great. The action was fast paced and exciting throughout both games. All the teams had some great plays, and moments where their star players shined, both offensively and defensively. I will definitely return to another event. It was a lot of fun, and I will be back.
This is a fun night out for everyone. They have fast action and a cast of characters that you will not see on T.V. Parking is close to the venue and economical.
I was very impressed with the whole atmosphere at the Roller Derby match..It was such a good time.I would recommend it to any one any age.Our group had a range of 11-72 years old boys,men,girls,women, and we all had a blast.If you ever though about going,do it, you wont be dissapointed..It was our first time ever and we will be back for sure.

I don't have any family or friends on the team and had never been to a roller derby bout. The venue is convenient. Parking is $13 directly accross the street and there is plenty, no hassles there. The box office was just as hassle free, we bought tickets when we got there and walked right in. They have a good selection of beer and snacks. It is clean and roomy. You can see perfectly even from the less expensive seats. The WCR girls really deliver they had us on the edge of our seats cheering the whole time. The staff members were really helpful and even explained the rules of the bout to a couple members of our group. Very nice selection of merchandise and I went home with a really nice t shirt and even some trading cards. We will definitely be back for more WCR! :)
It was my first time watching the roller derby and I am psyched I went. So fun! Will definitely go again.
It was so very exciting sitting track level, up close , taking photos of all the action. The women in this sport are so very talented. Will do it soon again!!!!
Well done! The t shirt passer outers didn't know how to do out properly... Kept handing out out to the people in the front row.
One of the best sporting events I've every been to. It took a little while to get the gist of the scoring and strategies. It was exciting, dramatic and tension built up right to the end. No fighting with referees or with opponents like so many other sports. The women's athleticism was amazing. And they were all different sizes and shapes and all seemed to get along well and enjoy their sport. I highly recommend Women's Roller Derby to anyone.
Derby was a blast! Had never gone before and totally did not disappoint! Was in charge of a way last minute bachelorette party so I decided to take everyone to the derby to help fill time before the bar hopping commenced. Everyone had such a great time that it was the hot topic for the rest of the night. Can't wait to go back for the next one!
Fun for a group. Kinda slow to start, but all in all entertainment. Might be priced a bit high at $25 per ticket. Maybe $20 is fair or offer "Family Packs"?
The windy city rollers are amazing! New fans, don't worry. They will explain the rules to you. We had a great time!
Sit closer to get more into the action. Moved closer for second half and was more enjoyable.
