About

Widespread Panic are an American jam band formed in Athens, Georgia in 1986. Composed of frontman John Bell, Dave Schools (bass/vocals), Domingo S. Ortiz (percussion), John Hermann (keyboards/vocals), Jimmy Herring (guitar), and Duane Trucks (drums), the band is known for never playing the same show twice and holds the record for the most sold-out shows at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre as of June 2022. Since forming, Widespread Panic have released 12 studio albums — several of which have climbed the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart — and 11 live albums, as well as a plethora of archival releases including vintage concert performances and their ongoing Porch Songs series of two-track soundboard recordings. Though they reduced their extensive touring schedule at the end of 2016, the band continues to make festival appearances and multi-night engagements at venues across North America.

Widespread and Pretty Lights rocked my socks

by Abach on 7/14/09Belvedere - Louisville

Best Widespread Panic show I've ever seen! Pretty Lights was AWESOME as usual, but we were kicked off the boat way too early. I know Pretty Lights is always up for an encore but everyone was kicked off exactly at 3.

    Great Regional Festival

    by MT14 on 7/14/09Belvedere - Louisville

This was a great weekend trip. If you live within a short drive, as Nashville, then it is a good fit. It was easy to find and there are plenty of hotels near. There was a good number of acts such as Widespread Panic, Black Crowes, Black Keys and Avett Brothers. Also, the sound was great as well. Will definitely check it out again if the acts are solid.

    Widespread Panic has multigenerational appeal

by Nomoteen on 7/14/09Belvedere - Louisville

The Panic on the Belvedere was the best show I've attended in over 40 years of concerts. My friends and I have been long time fans of southern rock and jam bands, but only recently started listening to Widespread Panic with Jasckassolantern being our favorite CD. This was our first Panic concert and were blown away. The group has an amazing following and their fans are great. Part of the show was watching the fans sing every word to every song. For 3 hrs I felt 19 again Thanks Widespread Panic.

Show was absolutely unreal. The boys were all giddy and ready to go after having a 3 month layoff. Can't wait for Mile High.

    widespread panic was a yawner

by wiseape on 7/13/09Belvedere - Louisville

Well, the contact buzz was nice I guess. Lot's of stoners...I guess I shoulda expected that. Dead head clothing as far as the eye could see. Dead Confederate was kind of weak sound-wise. Seems like their amps weren't set up as well as the others. Blacks crows were cool...pretty much what you'd expect. Enjoyed that. But Widespread Panic just droned on and on till my crew got bored and left. But hey, it looked like there were tons of folks having a great time...it just wasn't for me. All in all, between the ticket price, the expensive beers, food, etc...I'd have to mark it down as overpriced myself.

    GREAT EVENT!

    by wsp50 on 7/13/09Belvedere - Louisville

This was the first time I have gone to the forecastle festival; it was an overall great even. The music was awesome, all the vendors were good, and the entire crowd seemed to have a great time.

    Nice atmosphere, great show!

by stillgrateful on 7/13/09Belvedere - Louisville

Loved the focus on sustainable living and all the organic foods available! The music was great, sound was great, Yonder and Widespread were both great. Staff were present, but not overly so and friendly. The venue was clean, restrooms were kept up well. The vendors were a nice mix. Only complaint is the stupid buy tickets to buy food system. Had to wait through two lines to get a bottle of water!!!

    Another average Panic show

by Rsquared on 7/13/09Belvedere - Louisville

Forecastle festival '09 was average at best, stage locations were too close, could have gone without the techno beats. Yonder Mountian String Band was by far the highlight of the weekend.

    Panic rocked

    by mhc123 on 7/13/09Belvedere - Louisville

One of the best panic shows I have been to. Herring is starting to really gel with Panic, fits like a glove now. Papa's Home>Protein Drink>Sewing Machine>Papa's Home>Rock to close the first set was perfect. Hadn't heard Papa' Home in years.

Black Crowes Hot, Warm for Widespread

by IndyAlan on 7/12/09Belvedere - Louisville

Since the day that Jerry Garcia died, the Deadhead nation has been looking for a successor. A number of the Deadheads have become Spreadheads and WSP gave a great performance Saturday night. But the primary reason I traveled from Indy was to see the Black Crowes. Unfortunately, the Crowes only played for 1:15 but they rocked hard and admirably warmed the crowd for Widespread. The Crowes set list was solid, their mix was incredible and they are truly a band in their prime. Chris Robinson is a charismatic front man in all of his hippie glory, their rhythm section just smokes and the guitar work shared by Rich and Luther recalls the Allmans in their prime. Can they get the three hour set next year?
