Whitney Cummings on Tour
Whitney Cummings is a Los Angeles-based comedian, actor, writer, producer and director. Best known for creating and starring in the NBC series "Whitney," she also co-created and co-wrote (with Michael Patrick King) the Emmy-nominated CBS comedy series "2 Broke Girls."
In November of this year, Whitney launched her own podcast titled "Good For You." Whitney has a lot of questions for a lot of different kinds of people. She also has opinions. And a robot. "Good For You" is self-produced by Whitney alongside Made By Super and records in Los Angeles. New episodes are released on Wednesdays.
Whitney debuted her 4th stand up special, "Can I Touch It?" on Netflix on July 30th. The special includes Whitney's signature incisive commentary on gender dynamics is more relevant than ever. Filmed at the Sidney Harmon Hall in her hometown, Washington, DC. The special touches Whitney's take on everything including her signature incisive commentary on gender dynamics and why we should give sex robots a chance.
Up next, Whitney will star and executive produce a new half-hour comedy for Amazon, "Good People" which she co-created alongside Lee Daniels. The show revolves around three generations of women working in the ombudsman's office of a college that navigates the current cultural climate, the concept of feminism across different generations, and the struggle to reconcile socially constructed ideas with current ethical views regarding complex issues such as sec, race, class and gender.
In October 2017, Whitney debuted her novel "I'm Fine...And Other Lies," which details her brutal anxiety and codependency disorder, written with her trademark entertaining wit, humor, and honesty. That same year, Whitney made her directorial debut with the feature adaptation of Louann Brizendine's best-seller, "The Female Brain". In addition to co-writing and directing, she stars alongside Sofia Vergara, James Marsden, Lucy Punch, Toby Kebbell, Cecily Strong, Beanie Feldstein, and Blake Griffin. "The Female Brain" comically details the inner workings and complex power of brain chemistry among couples at different stages of their relationships. The film premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival and was distributed by IFC.
On the big screen, Whitney was last seen in "Unforgettable" for Warner Bros. Past feature film credits include "The Wedding Ringer," "Made of Honor," and "The Ridiculous Six." Whitney has appeared in such series as "Undateable," "Workaholics," "Maron" and the Comedy Central Roasts, which have solidified her presence in comedy television.

Her second one-hour stand-up special, "Whitney Cummings: I Love You," debuted on Comedy Central in June 2014. Her third one-hour stand-up special "I'm Your Girlfriend," aired on HBO in 2016.
She had a decent routine but short. Sho w started at 715pm with an opening act and ended at 820. Was surprised.
Between the opening act and Whitney, show was literally a few mins short of an hour. Whitney was funny but would not recommend ticket price, price of parking, drive into the city etc for 1 hour!
The wilbur is always great, but the show had very little new material. There was a bit of the material at the beggining, but she repeated 90% of the stuff from her other specials.
She's a natural; very funny, very quick banter with the audience, very comfortable. Very happy there was no political talk. I've seen her on TV a lot and wasn't sure I'd like her stand-up but was very happily surprised, she's great!
This is the second time that I have seen Whitney do her stand-up act. She is absolutely amazing. I have to admit, it takes a lot to make me laugh. She had me going right from the start. I love that she is so down to earth. You can relate to the stuff she talks about. She even stayed to sign autographs and take pictures. She is just the greatest.
She was really funny with her 40min set. Didn’t realize it was her book tour and she cut her set short to do a meet and greet and signed books.
Event was very funny, but extremely short! Lasted only 45 minutes! Free book was nice and signing after was nice.
I heard people complaining after the show bc her standup was only 30 minutes. It's a book tour, know what type of tickets you are buying. Plus she made up the time by meeting everyone and signing the books, that's why it was so short.
The show was way to short. Her time on stage was only 30 min!
When I see a comic mess with the audience, that lets me know they don’t have material. That was true with tonight’s show. And the little material she had was not funny. Also the variety of topics were severely limited. I think all she talked about was dating and tinder and match.com. Also her set was very short. In the end I was glad though as her act was boring. I hate to say that as I do like her but this show was a wasted evening. Could be why the house was so empty. Maybe people got the word on her ahead of time. Disappointing.
I thought she was breaking for an intermission but really the show was over. One opening act. Overall, it lasted just about an hour. I paid $56. Not impressed with the price in comparison to the length of the show. She was funny but I couldn't have paid far less for another stand up comedy show. It was awesome though that she gave a free copy of her book. I thought the stand up material was going to be about something related to "I'm Fine... and other lies" but it wasn't at all.
What a great evening of laughter, however, the show was super short (15min openingact, 30-40 min of Whitney) Whitney could’ve gone 30-40min longer and the audience would’ve felt like they got their money’s worth. Funny show though
was looking forward to seeing whitney because we have enjoyed her in every thing she has done so far,, understand this was a book show but man it was way to short,,, she was funny but could have brought more
I love Whitney Cummings but her performance was mediocre. It was a combination of old old material, a little new stuff, and filler. Watch her HBO specials, they’re much better.
First of all, the show itself was great. The opening act was funny. Whitney then came on stage holding a stack of paper, which I assumed were notes, but she never referred to them. She was very funny, but the crowd seemed to be mostly existing fans so they would laugh at even her smallest jokes. She abruptly ended the show saying she needed to save time for book signing and pictures. They set up a table on stage, where she signed books (non-personalized) and took pictures using audience members' phones. Afterwards, people could then go to a "photo booth" machine for an additional picture to commemorate the event. However, I didn't like a staff member's passive aggressive attitude. I am not sure if this was a venue staff member or a Whitney staff member. After I met Whitney on stage, I went to the photo booth machine just like other fans and stood in a long line. Almost immediately, this staff person came up to me (and only me) and said something like "You can take a picture at this booth, but you don't have to. It's not required." Um, I think any fan would know that. So I stayed in line. Moments later, this staff came back to me and said something like "Can you move aside? You're in the background of other peoples' pictures". But the other people waiting in line were ALSO in the background of the pictures! This staff member had ONLY me walk out of line to stand on the other side, out of the camera's view. It felt so exclusionary. Nobody should have to feel singled out like this. I can't think of any good reason for that staff to do that. I was wearing jeans and a t-shirt, like many other fans who were there. Feeling singled out, I then just left without getting my photo booth pic. I hope even Whitney agrees that even if a show is otherwise 5 stars, a fan feeling like this should automatically reduce it to zero stars.
I've seen all her specials and YouTube clips. I love watching her and was so excited for the opportunity to see her in person! She did not disappoint!! She was hilarious and relatable. By the time she says goodnight, you'll be happy to have a copy of her book to go home with so the hilarity doesn't have to end. Be warned though, sitting in the front row is only asking to be involved in her show.
Smart funny self-deprecating yet confident can't wait to see her again
Super fun event and would attend again in the future!!
Not your typical book signing! Whitney performed some of her standup act and then got down to the business of signing books and taking pictures with her fans. She stayed until everyone who wanted their book signed or wanted to take a picture with her were taken care of. I highly recommend attending this event!
We attended with friends and had a great time. Whitney Cummings was funny, interacting extensively with the audience. I feel like if we saw her again, it would be a new show. Great, belly laughs!
