WHITESNAKE IN CONCERT:

Legendary hard rock outfit Whitesnake has been inspiring serious headbanging for three decades, and they’re still electrifying audiences in 2015 with a refreshed and reloaded lineup for the Purple Tour. Ticket buyers can expect a thrilling experience when legendary frontman David Coverdale holds out the microphone for them to join in on mega hits like “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love”. Guitarists Joel Hoekstra and Reb Beach back him up with plenty of fire power as they unleash insanely fast licks and pummeling power chords. Meanwhile, drummer Tommy Aldridge and bassist Michael Devin tie it all together with their smooth yet intricate grooves. Fans of classic hard rock showmanship won't want to miss Whitesnake as they continue to let it all hang out on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Whitesnake was formed in Middlesbrough, England in 1978 by David Cloverdale, a British rocker who had previously fronted pioneering hard rock outfit Deep Purple. The band maintained solid record sales in their native England throughout the early ‘80s with hits like “Fool for Your Loving”, but label executive David Geffen suggested they might attract an American audience with a more commercially accessible sound. Whitesnake responded with their self-titled 1987 album, which contained the hits “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love”. Both songs received heavy rotation on radio and MTV, eventually pushing album sales to 8 million copies. Though the band remained successful for the remainder of the decade, Coverdale announced an indefinite hiatus for Whitesnake in 1991. After some one-off shows and brief tours in the ‘90s, the band officially reformed in 2002 and went on to release the albums Good to Be Bad (2008) and Forevermore (2011). Coverdale and Whitesnake returned in 2015 with The Purple Album, which treated fans to a retrospective of his illustrious career with covers of some of his best songs from his Deep Purple days.

    Whitesnake Amazing

by kat7 on 7/19/09Black River Coliseum - Poplar Bluff

The opening local band...was good...the next band was better, but we were having trouble hearing the words to the songs...Speakers to loud or something! But then Whitesnake came on and they were amazing...I was surprised they sounded sooo good! The lead singer is getting on in years and sounds awesome still! Great time! Thanks!

    Whitesnake

by lemansgt on 7/19/09Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena - Sioux City

The concert in Sioux City was good but why can't a band that has so may hits play those hits and not just stand up there and beat the drum or play the guitar - we know you are talented but that is just overkill - we paid money to see you sing. It has not just been WhiteSnake - others have done it also. The other thing is the crowds - why is it a must to throw beer? Its bad enough for the people there trying to enjoy the show but why throw it at the band along with other items? Also, we have never seen a concert where the band stops because a fight breaks out - thought we were in the middle of a bar room.

    Oldie but goodie!

by BrandyWade on 7/18/09Black River Coliseum - Poplar Bluff

I thought Whitesnake was amazing. They are like rock gods!!! The only problem I had was the sound, it wasn't the best. The vocals were way too loud. It was kind of irriating. But I don't believe it was Whitesnakes fault. I know there is a group of people that control the sound and how loud things are, and they should have fixed it. This was a common complaint. Other then that, I'm really glad I went. They put on a great show!

    Whitesnake was fantastic!!

by bennythedog on 7/17/09Orbit Room - Grand Rapids

This show was incredibly fantastic and exceeded all our expectations. They played many of their biggest hits. They have so many though, they obviously couldn't play them all!! The WS choir was in fine form. And, it was nice to see the crowd so receptive and participate as enthusiastically as they did. Uriah and Doug even came out to meet the fans which was a definite highlight to say the least!!

It was my first visit to Black River Coliseum and was very impressed with there set up. It was easy to locate the Coliseum, parking was easy, their staff was helpful and we had great seats! All three bands put on awesome shows. I hope that Black River will continue to try and get more concerts headed their way!

    Ratt opened and was great!!!

by Hornehead on 7/16/09Black River Coliseum - Poplar Bluff

Ratt was the better of the two. Whitesnake lost a lot of the crowd with a very long guitar solo

    Ratt was awesome

by Shelly72422 on 7/16/09Black River Coliseum - Poplar Bluff

I loved the Ratt/Whitesnake concert except for the opening act, it was awful. Ratt was the most awesome show, Whitesnake put on a good show but Ratt just had them beat with singing and show.

Whitesnake and Ratt - Poplar Bluff, MO

by Rockhawg on 7/16/09Black River Coliseum - Poplar Bluff

What a great show. Ratt played every song from Out of the Cellar to celebrate it's 25th anniversary. They will be doing this on the whole tour, so it's really a must see. Some of these songs haven't been played live for 25 years - and probably never will be again. They also played most of their hits from their other albums, including Lay It Down and Way Cool Jr. The addition of Carlos Cavazo from Quiet Riot on guitar really makes the band stronger than it has been on previous tours. I've seen Ratt on tour since the early eighties, and this is the best they have ever sounded live. Very high energy, and Pearcy was really on his game. Whitesnake was solid as ususal, but to me Ratt stole the show. Whitesnake played all their hits, Doug Aldrich was amazing - a solid performance, well worth seeing. I've also seen Whitesnake several times, and while this was good, it wasn't quite up to the level of '87. I also can't say enough about the facility and staff at the Black River Coliseum. I've been to shows all over the country, and have never been treated better. I will definitely attend a show there again.

Well it was great yet a little short I thought it could have been longer I realize they are getting older and they sure didn't seem like they lost any energy out there but overall it was great
