WHITESNAKE IN CONCERT:
Legendary hard rock outfit Whitesnake has been inspiring serious headbanging for three decades, and they’re still electrifying audiences in 2015 with a refreshed and reloaded lineup for the Purple Tour. Ticket buyers can expect a thrilling experience when legendary frontman David Coverdale holds out the microphone for them to join in on mega hits like “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love”. Guitarists Joel Hoekstra and Reb Beach back him up with plenty of fire power as they unleash insanely fast licks and pummeling power chords. Meanwhile, drummer Tommy Aldridge and bassist Michael Devin tie it all together with their smooth yet intricate grooves. Fans of classic hard rock showmanship won't want to miss Whitesnake as they continue to let it all hang out on tour.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Whitesnake was formed in Middlesbrough, England in 1978 by David Cloverdale, a British rocker who had previously fronted pioneering hard rock outfit Deep Purple. The band maintained solid record sales in their native England throughout the early ‘80s with hits like “Fool for Your Loving”, but label executive David Geffen suggested they might attract an American audience with a more commercially accessible sound. Whitesnake responded with their self-titled 1987 album, which contained the hits “Here I Go Again” and “Is This Love”. Both songs received heavy rotation on radio and MTV, eventually pushing album sales to 8 million copies. Though the band remained successful for the remainder of the decade, Coverdale announced an indefinite hiatus for Whitesnake in 1991. After some one-off shows and brief tours in the ‘90s, the band officially reformed in 2002 and went on to release the albums Good to Be Bad (2008) and Forevermore (2011). Coverdale and Whitesnake returned in 2015 with The Purple Album, which treated fans to a retrospective of his illustrious career with covers of some of his best songs from his Deep Purple days.
Music was great. Loved the Guitar Battle and Drum Solo.
Whitesnake sounded muffled not mixed well at all and too loud all sounding like one note. Did I hear lead background vocals?
Great show. David Coverdale still has it. The voice, the showmanship, the connection to the crowd... He worked both the crowd and the stage wonderfully. The Black Moods were the opening act for Whitesnake and were equally enjoyable for a band I had never seen or heard before. Very good sound for a three man band....
My dad and I had a great time at this concert! My only downside to it was that it almost seemed like the volume of the microphone wasn’t loud enough and his voice was a little drowned out by how loud the music was. Other then that this concert was definitely one of my favorites that I have been to at The Rose. The ending was one of the best that I have ever seen!
One of the best shows ever, Love What Snake they are still on top of their game.
Although several years have pass the band sounded great. Volume was a little too loud for me, not because I’m too old. I just enjoy more of a pure sound to actually hear the lyrics and musical instruments
I was pleasantly surprised.. I was curious how the years would have affected David Coverdale's voice. He still sounded good and tge band put on a hell of a show. Sounded good and plenty of energy. David was all over the stage, playing to the crowd, not just in one spot at center of stage.
Whitesnake has been around for many years and the only constant has been David Coverdale. This version of WS is another barn burner with no weak link. Reb and Joel are both amazing guitarists. Tommy is still a force on the drums. Some talk has been that Coverdale can’t sing anymore. I did not find that to be the case. Does he sound like 1987 Coverdale? No. But it’s ridiculous to expect that. He has the band and audience help out on some choruses but he’s singing live and still sounded pretty good. The show was a little short but it really rocked and I left very happy. All the new songs played fit right in.
Was an awesome concert it’s a shame it wasn’t sold out more promoting should have been done!
I really like The Rose . Whitesnake was the best they put on a great show. Can't wait to see Brit Floyd. And the new Hilton is a great addition to the area
Excellent show!!!!! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see them. You won't be disappointed. It was an excellent show from beginning to end. The sound was great, and so was the music. They interacted with the crowd, and I think this was one of the best concerts I have been to!!!!
The show was great. Always good to see D.C. and his band. Joel Hoekstra has been a great addition to the band on guitar. I love hearing the classics along with the new songs from Flesh and Blood.
Another outstanding performance! They played at least 3 songs from their new CD and the rest were classic hits....he’ll yeah!
Whitesnake gave it their all with another tremendous performance. David Coverdale has built an incredible team of musicians. Sadly, either the sound guys were sleeping on the job or this venue's really poor acoustics or a bit of both resulted in a very poor overall concert product. Sound was muddy and distorted. I suspect the sound guys were pushing the speakers too hard but the result was definitely not pleasing. On stage was a band with 2 absolute virtuoso guitar players, but you couldn't make out a fourth of the notes they played from my seat. I am attending one more show at this venue later this summer and hope to figure out then if it is the fault of the venue's acoustics and close proximity to the interstate or if was just inexperience/lack of talent at the sound board.
I think our kids were the youngest ones there. Sound was good at Ovens, bass could have been a bit louder but it was still good.
Whitesnake was great! They rocked the house with old and new songs! It was amazing to be able to sing along with songs from my high school days!! The camera work could use a ton of help!! The big screens are great but the camera work was not always where it should be! Like one of the guitar players was doing an amazing riff and the camera was following the lead singer who was just walking around!
Whitesnake did not disappoint! It was a great show. This venue is amazing!! Easy to get in and easy to get out. I will definitely return to this venue!!
Great concert! Love the Rose. Will definitely come back.
Great concert, perfect venue, comfortable space, great sound. The only issue is the guy who smoked cigarettes through the concert. I didn't think smoking was permitted so it would be great if they enforced that more. We all know smoking is terrible for our health so it is really bad when you are unable to avoid breathing in second hand smoke.
We saw Whitesnake with Foreigner in Cincinnati last year. It was good, but not enough Whitesnake. We were very excited to see them headlining a show in Dayton this year. We saw them Monday night 4/29). The show was outstanding. The band was high energy and got the crowd pumped up. Their setlist was great start to finish. Be in your seat when they start - Slide It In is #2, Love Ain't No Stranger is #4, Slow an Easy is #6. It was 90 minutes of great music. Wish they would play another 90 minutes. A shout out to the Dayton crowd - on their feet and loud the whole show. The warm up band Black Moods was good also. Don't miss this show.
