About

Transcendent and sometimes wistful, the folk-pop of Weyes Blood (a.k.a. LA-based Natalie Mering) explores everything that drives us, divides us, and destroys us. This sounds like heavy stuff, but Mering is an effortless guide. Though burdened by doubt, she is also buoyed by hope -- her music unfurling with stunning nuance and ease.

"Bob Seger meets Enya" is how she once described her work. When you consider Weyes Blood's otherworldly expansiveness and hook-laden melodies, you realize that she isn't exaggerating.

Weyes Blood's breakout album on Sub Pop, Titanic Rising (named one of 2019's best by Pitchfork, NPR, The Guardian), was an observation of doom to come. Its follow up, And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow, finds her in the thick of it, searching for an escape hatch, away from algorithms and ideological chaos. After five albums and years of touring, Mering has a lot on her mind.

Mering grew up singing in gospel and madrigal choirs, before prodigiously picking up guitar at age 8. That -- mingled with her love of jazz, filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky, and scholar Joseph Campbell -- has shaped her music, which tells stories of both ancient and modern myths. Why, you ask? Because, she says, "Shared myths are part of our psychology and survival."

And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow is out November 18th, 2022.

The show was amazing. It was easy getting in and grabbing a drink fast. Nice, easy staff made it pretty great. Super great show all around but a little heavy on the volume.

You ever go to a concert and the way they made the songs sound for it is kinda weird? Or the singer sounds a bit off? Lol well that didn’t happen. Honestly I loved her show. She has a wonderful voice.

Love the Van Buren, think this was my sixth or seventh time going. Staff kind/capable as always, show was smooth running, and Weyes Blood was incredibly talented. Great experience overall.

One of the most amazing concert experiences I’ve ever had. I’ve been a fan of Weyes Blood for a while now and I knew her concert was bound to be magical and life-changing. It was such a spiritual experience for me. I even cried at one point during the show. Thank you for such an awesome night!!!

    Weyes Blood

Great show. Incredible musicians. The sound was a bit muddy and blurred compared to Alvvays. Especially the low end. Lighting was a bit too blue. Never saw the artists which took away from the intimacy of the show. She is a great talent surrounded by great musicians. Opening act was a bit of a yawn. Classical whistling? Not sure...

The High Wyatt - Nashville June 2018

Everything was perfect, and a packed crowd with little room, it still felt very atmospheric. Can't wait until she hits the big stages with Kacey Musgraves!
