Wet Leg - the Isle of Wight five-piece founded by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers - have announced their eagerly anticipated second album moisturizer will be released on July 11th on Domino.
Alongside the album announcement, the band also share the first taste of moisturizer with its frenetic, alluringly combative lead single "catch these fists." Kicking things off with an untameable, electrified groove from its opening seconds, "catch these fists" is dance-punk par excellence - bass notes ricocheting off a wall of howling synth, thunderous beats catching strays from Teasdale's cruel deadpan.
The video, directed by the band and shot on the Isle of Wight, nods to Ti West, Cameron Crowe and their own "Wet Dream" video and is a suitably off-kilter introduction to moisturizer valley. The band will return to The Tonight Showstage at 30 Rockefeller Center on Wednesday, to give the song its international television debut.
Touring with Ellis Durand (bass), Henry Holmes (drums), and Joshua Mobaraki (guitar, synth), Wet Leg developed into a taut, caustic live operation that made good on their debut's success: #1 chart placements at home and abroad, three GRAMMYs, two BRIT Awards and over half a billion streams. If success presents a fork in the road for any new band - to "go pop" or keep following your muse - Wet Leg emphatically chose the latter path - including working with Dan Carey again as their producer. In March 2024, the band decamped to the remote seaside town of Southwold in Norfolk, England, to write; living together, working all day, watching horror movies all night, they soon locked into a new sense of symbiosis. Subsequently, all five members of Wet Leg have writing credits on moisturizer - "We were just kind of having fun and exploring," says Hester Chambers. "We focused on: Is this going to be fun to play live? It was very natural that we would write the second record together" adds Rhian Teasdale.
As happens a couple of times on moisturizer, the major animus behind "catch these fists" was an interaction with a belligerent man, as chronicled in the song's final verse. This is not to say shitty men are the sole focus of moisturizer -- no matter how much album track "mangetout", with its withering chorus of "get lost forever" may feel like the Nicole Kidman divorce photo in song form. On the contrary, this is largely an album about being, as the band exclaim on "pond song", so "DEEP! IN! LOVE!!!!" moisturizer contains love songs of every stripe: stressed-out, gooey-eyed, gratuitously horny, blissed out, obsessive and mysterious.
Although Teasdale previously felt allergic to writing love songs, moisturizer is defined by its sheer exuberance and Teasdale ended up finding the process empowering. That new sense of ownership extends to moisturizer's album art, an instant-classic freak-fest in which Chambers and Teasdale bare long, ghoulish claws; Teasdale, sporting long, kitschy socks and sans eyebrows, grins fiendishly into the camera. It reflects the album, moisturizer is the band turning the dial up and delivering a record that is unapologetically bolder, stronger and raunchier.

Wet Leg always brings their energy and fun to the audience and puts on a great show that never disappoints. Rhian has a wonderful voice, and so does Hester. Henry brings energy on drums, as well as Joshua playing guitar, keyboard, and synthesizer. Ellis’s bass is spot on and blends in very well.
Wet Leg in concert exceeded all my expectations. They played their catchy, clever songs with power and panache. Rhian Teasdale is a true rock star for our times, ruling the stage with blazing charisma and natural joy. Mary In The Junkyard was a terrific opening band, too. The Brooklyn Paramount is a stellar new venue, with caring and professional staff and great sound and lighting. I will return!
Wet Leg was incredible Wednesday night in Central Park! Their music is so infectious. The crowd was fully engaged from start to finish. Rhian was on fire and the band tore through the set with wild abandon. We loved every second! It was also a perfect night to be outside in Central Park. 10 out of 10!
I love the band, but you couldn’t hear them because the sound was so poor. Also, if you’re in general admission, you really can’t see anything. I watched the show exclusively through the monitor. (It isn’t even a large venue!!) They need to elevate the stage. Yes I could buy VIP seating, but it’s ridiculously overpriced. Very disappointed. Won’t come back to Summerstage unless it’s featuring an unknown artist who doesn’t attract people who bring their children or talk incessantly during the show.
Lots of energy, impeccable sound, a great vibe, and a stage with incredible effects. I loved it and would go again tomorrow.
Great show. Lots of energy. Sound was excellent! They'll be back
Loved Mary on the Junkyard, a really fun, talented opener! The theater and staff were excellent as usual and Wet Leg was an absolute blast from the second they stepped on stage! Thank you!
That show was freaking epic !!! Had a blast , what a great performance!
They sounded tired. Backlit strobes on the stage couldn’t let you see them and the sound wasn’t great…
When you see a live show you want to connect with the band performing. I found it difficult because the lead signer said next nothing all show. The smoke and light show was too much. I was only 20 meters away but couldn't really see the band through all the smoke. Instrument spund was ok, vocals were really washed out.
Wet leg lit it up with a huge show in Toronto. Really impressive sound, stage presence and light show. They had the crowd really going, right from the very first song. They are a newer band (2019) and it feels like they are just starting to break through on this side of the pond, so I found it all doubly impressive. If they keep going like this, they are going to be huge - true super star energy from Rhian Teasdale (lead vocals + guitar), Hester Chambers (lead guitar) and all the newer members who joined in 2024 (Henry Holmes, Josh Mobaraki and Eliis Durand). It was an amazing privilege to see them up close in a general admission venue like History and I'm looking forward to when they are back in Toronto.
Wet Leg killed it on the river at the Shed fairgrounds!
The Salt Shed venue where Wet Leg played has the city as a backdrop so the views of the show were fantastic. Great songs and fun to watch. There is something about Chicago in the fall that is magical and to put a great band in a great city together was an awesome experience.
I am 63 years old and live in New Orleans, but I’ve lived in San Francisco and spent a lot of time in New York and Denver and Chicago actually! I am always happy to travel for great music. I’ve seen a ton of quite a variety of live music in my lifetime and play quite a mean stereo! Wet leg ranks is one of the top concerts I’ve seen in my life! I am so glad that I researched where I could catch them… And that it was at the salt shed in Chicago! No matter what… Do not miss this band! Thank you wet leg! 💜💜💜💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽🎶🎶🎸🥁💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Awesome show, high energy, great vibes from the crowd. Just wish they’d played longer! Salt shed fairgrounds is awesome on a late summer night.
I've been a big fan of Wet Leg and this is the first live show I have seen of theirs. They bring so much energy and musicianship to their show. The crowd was completely into it. And I LOVE Salt Shed. Both the inside and outside spaces are great, but nothing beats being outside on a beautiful Chicago summer night. Hope to see Wet Leg again, and I will be at MANY Salt Shed shows in the future.
I love their music but they sound better recorded than live. I had mistakenly purchased tickets for both Wet Leg and another band that night and was trying to decide if I should stay through Wet Leg's performance or not. I stayed for about 30 minutes and went to the other show. I'll continue to listen to them on Spotify but i won't go out of my way to see them in the future.
Most captivating show I have ever witnessed!! Rhian pulls you into the show and doesn’t let go best female front person that I have ever seen !!!
Incredible show, very good 👍 Great evening, everyone behaved
