From the opening, with spotlights and music announcing the rock star dogs to the final 7 dogs competing in Best on Show, a fantastic experience all around! Entertaining, educational and fun! The breeders, handlers, judges and all who make this show, thank you! We get to experience and meet the finest dogs in the best competition in the world!
Wonderful seat - would definitely recommend getting seats in section 103. Food and drinks were overpriced but that's always true in these venues.
We randomly say if the event bought tickets for the show. The buying process was easy. We got really great last minute seats with a good view. The event was not a typical nyc crowded event and I appreciate that. There were still a lot of people there but it was managed really well and made the entire experience feel very enjoyable, even relaxing (that might have to do with it being about dogs) Thank you for the experience.
The audience at MSG for the first night of Westminster experienced numerous sound problems and some video problems with the judging on the floor not coming up on the monitors in a timely manner. Most of the sound problems were related to the wireless microphones being used to interview guests on the floor but the whole feel of the presentation in the stadium felt slightly off and not as smooth as in previous years. Sometimes it was more than a little annoying.
What an amazing show of all the best dogs in the country from every breed. The show is a premier event!
Love all dogs!! Great venue! It would be nice if agility and obedience were in separate locations From confirmation.
My first time at a dog show. So happy I went to see these joyous creatures in person. Happy to see such unique breeds of animals. A must see for all ages!
I am 65 year old female from MN who travels alone. Been to Manhattan before but only inner city. Wanted to experience whole Westminster process start to finish just once. Breed judging at Pier 94 not on subway line. Leary of taking city bus M50 or walking from E/C line on 50th to the pier. Do not be afraid. Did both bus and walked. It's maybe 3/4 mile. I exercise so 3/4 mile nothing for me. Not alot of people around. Lower end apartment housing and businesses but not delapitated. No homeless. Not trashy. Just regular people living their life. M50 Bus going to the Pier travels down 49th Ave. Bus back goes up 50th Ave. Breed judging at the Pier very crowded but get to see the effort handlers go thru to get dogs ready. Can sit or stand to watch breed judging. Now on to First night of actual show. Went early to benching area to see breed winners getting ready for show. They advertise you can touch the animals but most handlers say no. And it's so crowded very hard to get close enough to touch anyway. But you have to do it just once. For the actual broadcast, first night I sat in section 112. You are a bit farther back behind media but have clear view of everything. Can see what dogs and handlers are doing when not on TV. TV broadcast is shown on the big screens so get the close up view also. Second night sat in section 103. The TV broadcast podium is elevated and blocks the podium where small dogs are placed for judges initial feel touch. A TV camera and crane on that side are moving all over the place sometimes also obstructing the view. If I went again I would avoid the section 103 side like the plaque. General admission second floor would be better to see whole floor. Once is enough but really glad did it.
The general admission tickets were very unclear about seats. It was nice to be able to mingle with the dogs before the show started but even that area was very chaotic. There should have been a more organized way to walk around and check them out. It felt like a sardine just trying to walk past a table.
This was my first time going to the Westminster Dog Show and I was in awe. It's so much different in person as to watching it on television.
The show was good and the grooming of the dogs was wonderful to see. I wished I had known about the previous days of competing. I had hoped there was a playbill, but there wasn't one. The seats were really cramped for leg room. It was still a good experience.
This was our first time to the Westminster Dog Show. Not only did we go the show at Madison Square Garden, but we went to the other events off site as well. My biggest issue with the Garden was the security protocol. We had called ahead to see if we could bring our camera with a zoom lens. We called both the venue and the show organizers. It is a small zoom lens (28-200) and we were told it would be okay...by BOTH parties. So we get to the event and security says that the lens is too big! So they took my lens (which we got back after waiting in a long line after the show). While waiting in line after the show we found out that security took over 300 water bottles from patrons...even when the bottles were empty! A bit ridiculous. Also, the staff member that was there to "help" us find our seats was quite rude. Other than that, the show was fun and the dachshund (Burns) was robbed of his victory!
Watched the top dogs in the US compete for the coveted wins. It was exciting to actually be there
I loved the event and had no problem with general seating. I thought the expo center should have been more organized, perhaps with a maximum number of people who may walk by to view the dogs. The lines should be kept moving in a single file so individuals may see the dogs, rather than just being in a crowd. This would make things less crowded, chaotic, and disorganized. There should also be more food and drink stands on the open seating floors. The garden would have made more money. We wanted to eat and drink but the lines were too long to wait.
Loved every minute, especially enjoyed the preshow benching
Easy in & out of Madison Swuare Garden. Wish we had taken advantage of the piers for a closer look at the contenders
Better than the two nights of group judging at Madison Square Garden is two days of breed judging at the Piers. Pet the pooches; talk to breeders/handlers. See your favorite breed get judged. It's the best experience. And easy to get to.
For a four and a half hour show, I was surprised at how fast the time went by. There was lots of things going on during commercial breaks. Very professionally done. Overall a great show. We will be back.
Loved the show & our seats were great! Same time next year?
